I was actually headed to Paper Source because for the last times I tried to enter this store, they were closed. It often left me confused because the lights would be on and products scattered everywhere, but why were the doors always locked and nobody was there? Well, lucky for me Daisy was there today! I really needed a break from Paper Source because you see, words are my primary love language and I like to gift cards as much as I can. I wish that their hours were more consistent because I always feel like I'm settling when I give my business to Paper Source. Although, I have nothing horrible to say about Paper Source, it's always been a good experience for me upstairs but sometimes you just need to spice up your greeting card horizon and that selection makes me happy. Daisy was incredibly friendly and we chatted a lot. I had to wrap it up because my food I picked up was getting cold but she was really helpful and so was the owner which I forgot her name (sorry owner), that I encountered in the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. I have always had a much better experience with customer service in this store than Paper Source but really hope they improve with their hours. Paper Source keeps getting my business this year but thankful Bring Something To The Party is still around! read more

NOTE: Although the address for the building is correct (on 7th), the storefront is located on the Main Street side of the building. West side of Main just north of 7th Street. The owner of BSTTP saved my bacon about 2 months ago. I had gotten helium balloons in advance of an event. 90 minutes before the event, I return to find the balloons falling flat. I Yelped to see if there was anyplace nearer than the party-supply area over in the Downtown Industrial district, and was surprised to find BSTTP a block away. I called the owner; she went out of her way to pull together new bunches of balloons for me, and I was out the door, balloons in hand, about 30 minutes after I'd originally called. The store also had a nice selection of cute gifts and cards, and they also do custom wedding/party invitations. (P.S. You'll see references to Santa Monica in earlier reviews - the owner told me that she moved out of SM due to rising rents and came Downtown.) BSTTP -- MY BACON THANKS YOU!! read more

The store looked amazing from the outside so we decided to stop in and take a look. A look. We didn't promise we were going to buy anything. The lady inside was totally uncomfortable and acting like she was hiding something. She wouldn't talk to us and she was visibly shaken. Completely preoccupied gift wrapping and fiddling with things. We were looking to buy but the moment we found something she looked up and asked us rudely "are you going to buy something? Because if not I have paid orders I need to deal with". We weren't okay with that. So we made up an excuse to leave. We won't be bringing that kind of energy with us anywhere let alone a party in the middle of a pandemic. read more

Annette is an incredibly sweet woman and a miracle worker! She worked HARD to fill a last-minute hail mary of a balloon request. Not only was she able to find exactly what I needed, but she had it beautifully arranged and ready for me to pick up as soon as I pulled up to her shop thirty minutes later. This type of rush job is NOT advised, and I promise never to stress her out that way again. But I will surely use her services for every event from now on--with plenty of advance notice! read more

The other day I wanted to buy some balloons for my son. I googled the thought for Santa Monica and noticed this place, tucked into that little enclave of hipness along Ocean Park Blvd. between 17th and 20th. What a pleasant shop, filled with a very high quality selection of gift wraps, ribbons, cards, stationary, etc. Event planning stuff. I was in a bind trying to plan a last-minute work event in LA remotely from San Francisco and she saved the day. I found her on Yelp, gave her a call, gave her very little direction/inspiration and she handled the rest. Went here to discuss wedding invites. Tried to walk in one day because they also sell cute gifts and I needed something for a friends birthday but they were closed at noon on a weekday. Turns out they're not even open during their posted business hours. Next time I called ahead and she told me I couldn't come (on a Friday) because she's not there so I'd have to come Monday. I showed up early and the doors were locked again. Don't plan on just strolling by this store during the day. Always call ahead. During my appointment she couldn't get her things straight. She kept digging through unorganized bins. Her invites are beautiful but there are not a lot of options. They also don't do address printing (even though she first told me they did). They just refer you to a calligrapher. Finally I picked one I liked and she couldn't give me pricing right then and there so she asked for my email. Took her 5 minutes to find a pen. She said she would email me that day with a quote. It's now several weeks later and no email. This place is extremely unprofessional. You're better off going to paper source or something like that. read more

My friend needed a gift and I suggested she visit this store because they have cute stuff. She went at 11:15 am on a Friday (store hours posted online state they open at 11) and they were closed. We went back together in the afternoon, when we walked in the lady at the desk was on the phone and didn't greet us. Then we were looking around and we were taking a picture of an item, and she has her back towards us but turns her head and says outloud "Could you at least tag me in it?" and rolls her eyes. Her tone was absolutely awful, like we bothered her by walking in! We immediately left the store without making our purchase. We work in the building and will never return , and will make sure our 300+ coworkers know about our experience and don't shop there either. read more
