What an amazing experience! The food was great, i got the country fried steak with baked beans and a baked potato. Came out a lot quicker than we expected! 1 Star has been taken off because the condom machine does not work and took my quarters. There is an awesome arcade and market place all in one building! The last time I was here, I left a scathing review with a one star rating because of the breakfast and dinner buffet. This time around, I decided to try something new and order the 1/2 pound hamburger with French fires straight off of the menu and thank God, I did! My burger was humongous. It was cooked medium well, like I asked for and had fresh cheese, onions, pickles and tomatoes. It did not come with any dressing like mayonnaise, ketchup or mustard but I could have added those myself. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. My bun was slightly toasted and warm and my fries (even though straight from a bag) were delicious and piping hot as well. We also decided to try a few pieces of their pie and went with apple and the Hershey chocolate cream. Both were outstanding even though I'm pretty sure they were not "home" made. So I've bumped my review up to a four and my advice is.....don't get the breakfast, lunch or dinner buffets and order straight off the menu. I recommend the 1/2 pound Brintle burger. read more

I stayed at the next door hotel as a midway stop on my recent trip. This was a very pleasant selection and find. I enjoyed it so much that I planned my return trip so that I could stay here again. First of all, the people are really nice! They have a varied menu with some interesting choices. They have a buffet and I guess for continuity I should talk about that one first. They do their buffet a wee bit different. Instead of having plates up there for you to grab, you order the buffet and then your server brings you a few plates. 2 dinner plates, a salad plate, a soup cup and a dessert dish. Doesn't look like it will be enough but I've never had to ask for more plates. The buffet is pretty cheap, too, I think $10.99 for dinner. That's pretty comparable, if not cheaper, than some places. The salad bar has your usual salad offerings. They usually offer 3 kinds of soup. Not 2 like most places, not 4 (not exactly sure why on that) but 3. This time I tried the chicken and dumpling soup because it sounded tempting as a comfort food. However, I think they labelled the soup wrong. Chicken and dumplings? More like dumplings and chicken. The iceberg the Titanic hit was smaller than the dumplings in this soup. Their hot side of the buffet had various vegetables including a rather curious squash/zucchini casserole that people seemed to be too scared to try. It was alright but I didn't have seconds. They had meatloaf but either they made it wrong or it had been sitting awhile but when I tried to scoop (yes, I said scoop. not cut, not pick-up-with-tongs, not poke-with-fork, scoop) some meatloaf onto my plate it turned into meatmush. Dude, where's my loaf? They also had bbq pork and any respectable North Carolina establishment should have bbq done right. They did have fried chicken, and you already know how I feel about fried chicken on a buffet but at least they offered main courses OTHER than fried chicken. Thank you, Brintle's! :) I tried the restaurant again the next day for lunch before I headed out. Not doing the buffet again, I tried a burger off the menu. The Mayberry Burger. (They love Andy Griffith out here.) It's an angus beef burger with yellow mustard, coleslaw and chili. Yes, all between the two buns. To cut down on the messiness (foresight!) I asked for the chili on the side. Something just told me, Liz, chili and coleslaw on a burger is going to get messy fast and there's a 1/3 chance it will either land on your chest, your jeans, or on the plate. How lucky are you feeling today? As it turns out, it was a good choice. Coleslaw on a burger is...different. I love it on a hotdog. Love it! Love it! Love it! On a burger, not so sure. The chili was very fine textured and it could have very well slid out while eating. It tasted like your basic regular restaurant-grade chili. Overall the burger wasn't that bad, it was unique, it was different. I'm inclined to try a few other things on the menu first before I return to it, but if it comes down to it, yeah I'd order it again. This, like many of their burgers and sandwiches, comes with home made chips. They do taste (by the way some are cooked better than others) like someone took half of a potato and a slicer and just sliced these right into the fryer. No seasoning or anything and I felt weird dipping these in ketchup so I refrained. Some were crisp, some were softer but overall, not bad. A nice change of pace from french fries. They also have a dessert menu with a few items I'd love to try next time. read more

We were traveling North and decided to stop for a quick breakfast. (My grandmother had a close friend who worked at a truck stop in Pennsylvania. We went there for lunch many times and I remember how good it was.) I told my husband we should give it a try. WOW! What a surprise! Our eggs were perfect, home fries just right, and toast was not burnt. Chemaine, our server, was so friendly and efficient. Not only was our food Homestyle, so was our experience! Sometimes the best packages are wrapped in the simplest paper. This took place on December 28, 2019. I thought I had lost the receipt and could not remember the town where we stopped to eat. THE RESTAURANT - Best hamburger plate ever!! Excellent customer service. Clean! Great family sit-down restaurant. THE BAR - Buffet has moved into gas station for quick food to buy. Great cornbread! They have trouble keeping food warm, but ask and they will pull from the bottom. I do not like the biscuits the bar serves during the morning. Excellent beef slices and turkey. read more

First off the staff is very kind and generous. The food is delicious especially for a truck stop. I seen another review on here how they don't offer anything for vegetarians but seriously it's a truck stop? There portion sizes are good. Prices are great and they always offer specials. They have a breakfast buffet from 6 to 10 I think. They're homemade ranch is to die for. I would pick this place over Waffle House 9 out of 10 times. They even have wifi. Lol read more

I have eaten here several times, while in the area for business. The service was absolutely outstanding! The food was typical roadside diner fare, but quite good. The grits I had for breakfast tasted a bit off, but eggs and omelets were very good. I would certainly eat here again. read more

Only giving two stars because of the waitress staff otherwise I would give them a Zero. The waitresses were super friendly, courteous and professional. The food was horrible. I got the breakfast buffet and the eggs tasted like manufactured processed cardboard, the meats were all over cooked and bland. Dinner was pretty good here. First of all the staff is very friendly. I had the chicken & dumplins which was a very good southern dish. Dumplins were huge & lots of chicken. Hubby had the lemon pepper chicken, he said was tender and juicy. Very clean place although it was saturday nite dinner crowd, it was busy but well served. read more

The food was decent, omelet was actually quite good but it took half an hour for one omelet and one breakfast sandwich to make it to our table and we were the only customers in the building. Waitresses were inattentive and fighting amongst themselves while eating their own breakfasts (from Hardee's). Cheap and clean, but not worth it. read more

Just finished eating breakfast here. The food from the menu may be ok, but the breakfast bar was not that good. Food was very bland and dried out. We ate at around 7:30 am so it's not like the breakfast food should have been out there all that long. Breakfast bar was $44 for 2 adults, 13 year old and 10 year old. My husband and i ate here for th first time. And the services was very slow to get our orders in. My husband gotten the buffet and I've gotten the spaghetti dinner. It took 2 minutes for my food to come out which is kinda odd. The spaghetti was over cooked and the sauce tasted disgusting, no flavor. I use to stop here after work multiple times a month, since it's after 11pm at night, and this place never disappoints. No it's not fancy or super sophisticated but you definitely get your moneys worth. My usual meal is the Bacon Cheese Fries. I know it sounds insane, but sometimes it's the best cheese fries in town, they don't skip with the cheese and they don't get greedy with the bacon, it's steak fries so you know it's going to be a lot in the box. And the homemade ranch.. the homemade ranch is the cherry on top. Their chicken strips are awesome, burgers are tasty, fish is actually pretty good and they have a killer breakfast. So if you're ever in the area from traveling or just want something good to eat at 2 or 3 in the morning, this is definitely the place to go! read more

Had the pot roast sandwich on bread, and the tuna melt wrap. Both surprisingly pretty good for road-stop fare, and for under $13 for both, not a bad deal at all. You're not going to find 5-star cuisine, but you could definitely do worse. Would definitely come back. read more

This place never disappoints. I've never had the buffet. I'm not a buffet consumer. Breakfast off the menu is good. Western omelette is tasty with grits. Fried chicken with potato salad is hard to beat. You get a choice of bread. They yeast rolls are awesome. The sandwiches are ok & not their strengths but the Burger is a home run. It's a half pounder on a fancy tasty bun. Chicken livers are excellent. I want to try the meatloaf sandwich but I get distracted by my other favorites every time. The waitresses are very nice. They'll call you hun or sweetie. The place is old school & a vegetarian nightmare. It's a truck stop. I've been stopping here 3-4 times a year & I always get a decent meal served up with some good old NC hospitality! I've been here over 20 times. My meals have always rated between 3-5 stars. Can I give it a no star rating? First of all, there are no options for vegetarians at all. The waitress pushed me into the buffet, at almost 11.00, as my only option. The soups all had meat in them, and the vegetables - save for the cabbage - was/were inedible. After being seated, it took us 20 minutes to get our drinks, and we were never offered a refill. Then, since they do not put the plates on the buffet, we had to wait - again - for plates. We asked to speak to the manager and guess what?? It was our own incompetent server! We ended up paying for the buffet that I was not even able to eat! We will not only never return, but we will let all of our commercial driver friends know about our poor experiences here, and the nasty food. You should be ashamed of yourselves for the offering of what you call food, especially to those of us who work hard and look forward to the chance to take a meal break. read more

the service was the worst..... the food was trash i ate 10 percent of my food, basically tried it still was charged full price... the young girl named carmon have the worst memory she gave me my food nothing to eat with... i sat and waited for her for about 5 to 10 min no lie ....also asked her for the price of some grapes never got that price.... dont come to this place they are robbing people of a decent meal!!! read more
