It runs a lot of cover bands, but also mixes and matches intimate performances from a variety of artists. This year we saw Pokey LaFarge and Madeleine Peyroux. The audience is always going to be mixed, although there is a lot more grey in recent years! The venue has definitely shifted into more of a dinner and a show venue with lots of picnic style tables. The food is overpriced, but not terrible. The baked potatoes are amazing so always order that! Drinks are standard and nothing to write home about, but they do their job. Service is quick and un-fancy. Every seat in the house is a good seat. And the music and acoustics are excellent. Overall, this is a fun spot to stop in at reasonably priced live music and great baked potatoes with acceptable dinner fare and fine drinks. It is a classic and I hope it stays open forever!

We decided to try Bistro K as we were in the area and the reviews, pictures and the menu looked good, plus we were in the mood for a good Italian meal. We were greeted at the door by Brittany, who sat us promptly and was actually our waiter. Brittany set the tone for the evening and carried it through to the end. Simply fabulous service and personality. She made us feel not just welcome, but a part of the family. But it wasn't just the service that was so special. We decided to start with a glass of wine. I ordered the Prisoner Red while my wife ordered the Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay. And then the first hint of the forthcoming special culinary experience came. Their Focaccia bread. This bread, with a little cheese on top was supreme. Light, flavorful and the perfect start. We remarked that we could just drink wine and eat focaccia all evening! Next we split a Ceasar salad to start. It was fresh, crisp, with shavings of parmasean and a spot on Ceasar dressing. Next came our main course. I chose the Alaskan Halibut off their specials menu, however, rather than piccata sauce, I chose Brittany's recommendation to have it Alla Checca, with fresh tomatoes and basil. My wife chose the Chicken Piccata, because piccata sauce is a true test of any Italian restaurant. The halibut was perfectly prepared and a generous filet. Maybe the best halibut dish I've ever eaten. The tomato's and basil gave a nice acidic complement to the fish and the juice from the tomato's made the fish tender, flakey and moist. Served with perfectly prepared green beans and potato's. The chicken piccata was simply excellent, with just the right amount of lemon and perfect consistency. The chicken was perfectly pounded out and cooked. Also served with green beans and potato's. At this point, we thought we'd reached the peak, when Brittany brought out a giant slice of coconut cake and two decaf cappuccinos. OMG. This coconut cake should be illegal. To say it was great is an understatement. Light, full of flavor and coconut shavings. Simply phenomenal. Tina, the pastry chef, has it nailed on this cake. If you like coconut, you must try it. A++! If we could give a 6 stars on Yelp, we would. We feel it is under rated at 4.3. We are already planning our next visit to Bistro K, and can hardly wait.

In my experience this has been one of the most inconsistent restaurants in Laguna Niguel over the past 10 years I've live here (particularly when it comes to the food). What's frustrating is that I've actually had good meals here twice, which tells me that the kitchen is capable of producing good food when the right people are behind it. Management, listen to your patrons. Guests seem to repeatedly describe the same issue, and whatever you've been doing to address it clearly isn't working. It may be time to take a different approach, Invest in your kitchen, hire a strong chef and a consistent culinary team, and FIX THE FOOD. The restaurant has the atmosphere and potential to be so much better, but beautiful surroundings can't make up for consistently disappointing food.

I can't get enough of thiss place! Voted one of the best wine selections and bar in Dana Point and I can't agree more. The ambiance is superb, the moment you walk in you are greeted by a beautiful hostess and not to mention the entire staff, and thats a big thing for me, I don't like going into a restaurant and feeling left out and only attended by my waitor/ress I want to feel at ease and relaxed I'm not stopping by for myself I'm stopping by to enjoy everyone, everything, and every bite, or else I'd call in my order for pick up but I always dine in at Brio. I tend to sit at the bar and enjoy my dinner, but when I go in with my girlfriend we like to sit out on the patio, when you think patio in Dana Point especially during the winter time you would think ice cold wind, but it is completely enclosed, heated, and quiet, very romantic but the whole restaurant is romantic. When I sit at the bar I have the option of happy hour on drinks but thats only if I get off work on time, but even if I miss happy hour, the prices are exactly worthy for what you are getting. Their house wine is a popular choice, and not because it is the least expensive but most places when you think house wine you think '2 buck chuck' not here, it glides down your palette and texture and taste that is fruity yet subtle, and I pair it with one of their famous pastas, my favorite is the Risotto Scampi, large prawns, talk about juicy and a mouthful not some small little shrimp you find in the crevice of the harbor, fresh tomatoes, red and harvested at their prime, with fresh asparagus that are cooked steamed and seared to give alittle crunch. BRIO! I only have good things to say, from the moment you walk in to the moment you drive away you're just dying to pull back in and be seated once again. This was my first time here, so I went in with not the highest expectations not to be let down and let me tell you all my standards for fine dining were met ! The general manager Pepe was my server for the evening. A very humble man, greeted me and my wife with open arms and a big smile. Very tentative throughout the evening. Brought us our waters and bread within seconds which already showed that he would pay specific attention to us, not like we needed it. The resturant was packed and yet looking around I could tell every customer was satisfied with whomever their server was which is a good sign to come back. He showed us the wine list, and when asking for preferrences he did not hold back, he also mentioned some new additions to the bar that have a unique flavor. I ordered the filet medallions and my wife ordered the Con Brio Salad and Pasta Donnatella. The food was cooked to a perfection, really hot too which meant that it was fresh and not just sitting around for 15 mins in the back. The sauce on the donnatella was rich and creamy but also melted in your mouth with a smooth slurp affect. The prices are also top knotch for the quality and portions which is what I loved. Disappointing Experience at Brio Tuscany Grill We had high hopes for Brio Tuscany Grill on Saturday, July 19th, but our experience was a disaster. We drove from Aliso Viejo, excited to enjoy some great Italian food, but left feeling frustrated and disappointed. The problems started when I asked to taste two wines and was told they don't offer "tasters." I ordered a glass of wine listed at $11 on the menu, but it was billed at $12. We ordered garlic bread, eggplant, and a salad to share, and when the bill came, every item except the garlic bread was priced higher than the menu--by $1-$2 each. Adding insult to injury, we were charged a $6 split fee on a $9 salad and an $8 split fee on the $23 eggplant (which was also incorrectly billed at $24). The initial bill was nearly $90 before we complained and had the split fees removed. When we brought up the incorrect pricing, the manager shrugged it off and blamed the server. The only bright spot was our server, who was sweet, attentive, and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Unfortunately, the misrepresentation of pricing, excessive split fees, and lack of accountability from management have ensured we won't be back. Brio Tuscany Grill, how hard is it to reprint menus with accurate pricing? And as a manager, own up to your mistakes instead of passing the blame. read more

I'm usually busy through out the week so I hardly find time to cook a home cooked meal after work for dinner, luckily for me Brio is just down the street. Yes they are Italian but you aren't limited to just pasta dishes you have an assortment. Last Night I placed an order to go, I ordered their Cavatelli Primavera pasta with gluten free pasta not that the homemade pasta their isn't delicious I'm just trying to stick with my new year regime :p the pasta is filled with seasonal fresh greens such as zucchini, broccoli, carrots, Roma tomatoes, in a extra virgin olive oil sauce mm lip smacking! Then I also got their Calamari Fritti, okay for starters their appetizer portions are enough for 2 or 3, the calamari you get ringlets and the tentacles which are my favorite they aren't overly breaded or greasy just the perfect batch. Sweet Devon a hostess/occasional server took my order she was polite and upbeat when she answered the phone and was honest about the time. That's another thing I love about Brio, the service is always honest always smiling always tending to you their is never a problem and when it comes to hunger my time is precious and knowing how long it'll take and calling me a few minutes before to let me know it's ready helps no one wants a cold meal and mine are always pipping hot I LOVE IT read more

Wow! I was totally blown away with this place! My wife purchased a coupon for Brio for our anaversary. I was looking forward to another Italian restaurant that we have gone to in the past but hey....who am I to say anything to my wife? Well, I was pleasantly suprised with this new favorite place. As a retired executive chef with over 35 years in the food and beverage business I can tell you that Brio has all the bases covered. From the start, as you enter the place we were greeted by Devon the more then gracious hostess, who opens up the place and welcomed us in to dine. Followed by Peppe who was our server. This guy is smooth and knowledgable of the menu, the area and the customers needs. It was like having our own personal consierge. The food was dinamic and full of flavor. I had the Dover Sole with the citrus butter sauce. The fish was tender, full of flavor, flakey and crispy! My wife had the filet mignion which was tender and perfectly paired with a demiglace and Fontina cheese! I loved my time at this place and I can't wait for the next chance to go back with friends and family. I purchased a Travelzoo voucher for four. You won't find a better deal in Orange County. This was our fourth time to dine at Brio. What more needs be said! The special voucher menu has wonderful choices. We began with a bottle of Cabernet that is priced especially for the voucher dinner. It was superb! Then came the warm bread, flavored butter and a bountiful antipasto plate. All of us had the lobster crab bisque, by choice! Our entrees were Shrimp Scampi, Veal Marsala, and two orders of Filet Sirloin Steak. Everything came to the table piping hot,. We asked for medium rare, and that's what we got. The portions are extremely generous. We finished with the gelato of the day. Even better than the meal (if that's possible) was our waiter, Claudio. He was the highlight of the meal. Food - We decide to finally try brio and it was amazing. My daughter and I shared the Paul's spaghetti and the salmon. The salmone was perfection. My husband is still talking about how good the New York steak was a couple of days ago and the had some special locally caught blue fin tuna sashimi appetizer that we had to order two of. Service - the manager greated us with a smile and made us fell like regulars right away. Our server Dwight was excellent, he was from Texas and showed us true southern hospitality, he was welcoming, attentive, and I wish my kids had that good of manners. We love this place. Food is great!!! Pepe the waiter makes you feel like home every time you go. Unfortunately there is a man that sits at the bar every day/night and leaves his dog baking (and barking) in the car while he bellys up to the bar. We've asked him to take his dog home. Other patrons have done the same. The police have even gotten involved. However the ADMIRAL feels he's above the law. He has physically pushed my husband when confronted. So unfortunately we will not be going back to Brio until the owner does what he said he would do and not let this man drink in his establishment. Let's all hope he does the right thing, but for now, if you care about animals, consider another restaurant. read more

A wonderful evening. The food and ambiance were excellent. The service even better. No, it was not Claudio (having seen the other reviews, although we're sure he's a fine waiter). No, the woman that served us, Dianna, was as helpful and personable a waiter as we have ever come across. It is always a pleasure when the waitstaff interact as warm human beings and not programmed robots. To the contrary, Dianna became a friend for the evening. Her advice was right on target regarding the menu, but more than that, she helped us out with regard to other issues we had as visitors to the area. I brought my wife down from the bay area to celebrate her birthday back on 9/20/15. I brought her here for her birthday. I don't usually write reviews, but I feel Brio deserves one. My husband and I were at Brio Sunday night for dinner (not our first time there) and had another exceptional dinner experience. I had the Carolus Pasta Special and my husband had the Penne Donatella. We were both in the mood for pasta and these did not disappoint. The sauces on both were sooooo flavorful and the pasta exceptional. Topped off by Claudio, one of the best waiters we have ever encountered, put Brio at the top of our regular dinner spots list. Perfect for a business dinner meeting. Held a meeting here with some employees from our of state, we came around 6:30 sat in the patio for a table for 12 started off with appetiers and drinks, the food and service was great, we were seated instantaneously greeted with a sile the entire evening. We all got our entrees around the same time snd finished intime for the live entertainment, it was Wednesday so their DJ Peter spiced up with dance floor with his latin tunes. Came here on a night there was live music, which although great was too loud and I couldn't have a conversation with other people in my party. The food and bread that was brought out was delicious, however I will say that the pizza is not authentic at all and has way too much cheese. Service was horrible and waited at the hostess station for about 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Pasta was great, and that was the definite highlight of the night. 4 stars for the food, barely one star for the service. read more

What a wonderful experience. It was our first time at Brio, so we had no idea what to expect. We received a warm and very welcoming greeting at the door from claudio who ended up being our server. What a great personality. He was so friendly and so funny. He really made our experince above and beyond anything we expected. Celebrated my Birthday Party 2 days ago. The owner helped to organize event for 18 people at the last moment. Thank you Enzo! The setting was perfect. Food was very good, service great, music nice and not very overwhelming: guests could enjoy dancing as well as communicating with each other. Their facial expressions, body language, and overall manner toward us felt dismissive and condescending, especially compared with how warmly they had treated the white couple before us. There were still several empty tables near the windows at that time, which made the situation even more difficult to understand. My wife and I were extremely uncomfortable and honestly considered leaving. We had been enjoying our stay at the resort for several days, but this experience completely changed our mood. We ultimately stayed because we were exhausted after spending the entire day at the beach and did not want to leave the resort to find another restaurant. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy the meal because of how we were treated. Despite everything, we still left a 20% tip. The next day, we happened to see one of the hostesses and one of the servers from our dinner. When they saw us, they gave us a very strange look, which made the whole experience even more uncomfortable. I am not claiming to know exactly why we were treated differently. However, the contrast in treatment was difficult to ignore. You know when you're starving after being out all day and almost anything sounds good? This wasn't one of those situations where the food just tasted good because we were hungry. Everything that came to the table was legitimately impressive. We started with the chips and salsa, and immediately knew we were in for a good meal. The chips were fresh and crispy, and the different salsas each had their own flavor instead of just tasting like different levels of heat. The creamy green one was especially good. We kept going back to it. The Birria Quesadilla was ridiculous. The tortilla had that perfect golden crisp on the outside, plenty of melted cheese, and the birria inside was tender, juicy, and actually flavorful. Dip it into the consommé and it takes it to another level. Add a little guacamole and pico and you get the perfect combination of crispy, cheesy, rich, fresh, and savory all in one bite. We also had the Carne Asada and this is where I really have a hard time describing how good the food was. The texture, preparation, and flavor of the meat were all on point. It had a beautiful char on the outside while still being tender and juicy inside. Nothing tasted overly seasoned or covered up. You could actually taste the quality and preparation of the meat. Even the rice, beans, pico, guacamole, and bacon wrapped jalapeño on the plate felt like they belonged there instead of being random sides thrown on to fill the plate. The portions were generous too. This is the kind of Mexican food where you can tell someone actually cares about how each component is prepared. There are different textures throughout the meal, crispy tortillas, tender meat, creamy guacamole, fresh pico, rich beans, and everything works together. The restaurant itself has a great San Clemente feel. It's lively and casual, but still nice enough that you could come here for more than just a quick meal. We came in after a soccer tournament and felt completely comfortable, but I could just as easily see coming back for brunch, dinner, or drinks. And after looking through the menu, there are already several things I want to come back and try. The menu goes way beyond the typical tacos, burritos, and enchiladas. Filet mignon tacos, short rib, blackened shrimp, seafood, birria noodles, bowls, burgers, brunch, there is A LOT happening here. What impressed me most was how well the food was actually executed. Sometimes restaurants with huge menus do a little bit of everything but nothing particularly well. That wasn't our experience at Asada. We came in tired and hungry after a soccer tournament and left talking about the food. Asada Cantina + Kitchen is absolutely going on our San Clemente list. The texture, preparation, and taste of the food are honestly hard to put into words. You just need to try it.
