I love coming for happy hour on sundays. The food is amazing and the service is always friendly and accommodating. I like to get the meatballs and the French onion soup. The pea and goat cheese salad is also one of my favorites and if you're getting a cocktail, the Serrano lemon drop is a must. It's a fun piano bar with dark lighting and very cozy. We were very entertained by the piano bar the entire time we were dining The dish of the night was the baked cavatelli Bolognese Wow! Everyone wanted to bite... Of course they have some of the best martinis that you could ever ask for however, I was really feeling the Austin Hope Cabernet that night. Free parking in the back they also have street parking. We were able to travel down to Luxe Restaurant to do a tasting in person and collaborate on a menu that would not only suit a variety of tastes but allergy needs (which was a big priority for us). I cannot comment on anything but service, but that should be in the negative. While out with out grandkids on Sunday evening we were waiting for the trolley at the stop by Luxe. I took the opportunity to look at the menu and discuss with my better half about trying it out. So I then approached the host and asked if they took reservations, and when assured they did I made one for Monday at 5p. I noticed the book seemed empty, but I thought that was because Mondays must be light. Upon arrival Monday we found out it was because they are closed on Monday. This restaurant is a perfect romantic date night spot, we came in to celebrate our anniversary. The live piano on Saturday night was a wonderful touch. This was my first time at Luxe and I was a party of four at 8:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve. our table was ready and waiting for us, we had arrived early thinking we would get a drink at the bar but we were sat right away. I had posted a prior thread about the restaurant on Nextdoor and the owner remembered my name from that post, gave me a hug up on arrival and was very warm and friendly. we had amazing service, very attentive even though it was a busy New Year's Eve night. we got the short rib egg rolls and I got short rib mashed potatoes and broccolini for my dinner and everything was just really fantastic they provided a champagne toast at 9:00 p.m. doing a East Coast celebration. there was a live piano who accepted song requests. I did a very specific song request and she did not know my song but asked for a few moments looked up my song and proceeded to play it and it was fantastic. there's a few seats around the bar so if you want to go for a quick drink I think it would be nice to just sit around the bar area. it was lively dark cool spot in Dana Point and we will definitely be back. I feel like for the amount of food received and the price it was well worth it and just for the warm welcoming environment. My husband & I drove up from San Diego to meet friends at Luxe in Dana Point. Well worth the drive!! The "hostess" greeted us with such hospitality, I felt like I'd entered a friend's home- come to find out she was one of the owners, that explains it...Great customer service. Vert disappointed. It was extremely hot in the restaurant even though it was a cool evening. For being a place that specializes in martinis, they were nothing special and felt uninspired. The food is was terrible. To charge $30+ for bland food that I could have cooked better at home was a joke. I asked for parmesan and they gave us a jar you would see sitting at a pizza place. On top of that they charge $10 for garlic bread for the table and the portion was tiny and not enough for 6 people to get a piece. The waiter was kind, but did not check up on us often. The place was maybe half full. I will never come back or reccomended. Go spend your money elsewhere. I wish I could get my evening back and spend it somewhere else. read more

This place has a ton of potential and I'm being generous with the rating because I am rooting for them and like them. My one gripe is their choice of live piano music (no doubt it's nice to have) can sometimes make it sleepy and this place is screaming for ENERGY! Their food is also Italian so you have to be in the mood for that type of cuisine. I've been once before for dinner and most recently came back for happy hour during the day and really enjoyed myself at the bar and loved interacting with Jeremy the bartender - super sweet kid. I say kid because he's the youngest guy there as this place leans towards the 50+ local crowd. The dark moody aesthetics though are everything and I am missing places like this as I am bored sick of light, bright and white for an evening mood. I'm going to keep coming to this place but hope one day the owner LIVENS IT UP! read more

An elegant, but warm restaurant and bar. Live music with guitarist Dan Forster with John on grand piano playing variety of music. The food was delicious-had all three selections of generously sized flatbreads, calamari (my personal test of quality food), unbelievable Caprese burrata salad. Good wine selection at fair prices and friends appreciated the excellent cocktails. Planned a small birthday gathering of a dozen guests for my husband's milestone birthday. Manager Cindy was prompt and efficient in preordering and suggestions. Even responded on her day off. Once there, our waitperson Olivia took excellent care of our large group, running things so smoothly that everyone felt like the guest of honor, even providing the birthday candles for the cake! My husband and I came across this restaurant while walking around during the Dana Point annual car show. We immediately loved the elegant, relaxing vibe. The waiter was very nice and sat us right away. The staff overall was friendly and attentive. We ordered some appetizers and cocktails. The fried calamari was great and the artichoke with herbs, drawn butter, and a lemon beurre sauce was flavorful and delicious. We also tried a side of the mushroom risotto, which hit the spot, creamy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. They do not have hard seltzer, only High Noon, and I ordered the Watermelon Lemon Drop Martini, which was excellent. I came to Luxe for the first time this week on a Wednesday evening. I was surprised how few people were there during happy hour. No reservation and we got sat right away. Our server was great, and so was the food. They had a live musician and while it was a little loud, it created a great ambiance. They have a great outdoor patio (perfect for brunch). They have lots of parking near the restaurant, as well as a parking garage right behind it too. I really hope this place sticks around because I think it's really underrated. One thing to note, I wouldn't call the caprese salad a salad - it had no greens. Felt more like an appetizer. read more

Went during the off peak hours. Service was very good, server was friendly and on top of things. Fiancé ordered the short rib, i got the frutti di mare, both were very excellent. The Frutti di mare was one of the better ones that I have had over the years. Caprese was also very tasty. Prices were slightly on the higher side but that seems to be everywhere these days.
