Sometimes you find a place that is such a gem that as you're walking out the door you're already looking forward to your next visit. That place is Bistro K. We decided to try Bistro K as we were in the area and the reviews, pictures and the menu looked good, plus we were in the mood for a good Italian meal. We were greeted at the door by Brittany, who sat us promptly and was actually our waiter. Brittany set the tone for the evening and carried it through to the end. Simply fabulous service and personality. She made us feel not just welcome, but a part of the family. But it wasn't just the service that was so special. We decided to start with a glass of wine. I ordered the Prisoner Red while my wife ordered the Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay. And then the first hint of the forthcoming special culinary experience came. Their Focaccia bread. This bread, with a little cheese on top was supreme. Light, flavorful and the perfect start. We remarked that we could just drink wine and eat focaccia all evening! Next we split a Ceasar salad to start. It was fresh, crisp, with shavings of parmasean and a spot on Ceasar dressing. Next came our main course. I chose the Alaskan Halibut off their specials menu, however, rather than piccata sauce, I chose Brittany's recommendation to have it Alla Checca, with fresh tomatoes and basil. My wife chose the Chicken Piccata, because piccata sauce is a true test of any Italian restaurant. The halibut was perfectly prepared and a generous filet. Maybe the best halibut dish I've ever eaten. The tomato's and basil gave a nice acidic complement to the fish and the juice from the tomato's made the fish tender, flakey and moist. Served with perfectly prepared green beans and potato's. The chicken piccata was simply excellent, with just the right amount of lemon and perfect consistency. The chicken was perfectly pounded out and cooked. Also served with green beans and potato's. At this point, we thought we'd reached the peak, when Brittany brought out a giant slice of coconut cake and two decaf cappuccinos. OMG. This coconut cake should be illegal. To say it was great is an understatement. Light, full of flavor and coconut shavings. Simply phenomenal. Tina, the pastry chef, has it nailed on this cake. If you like coconut, you must try it. A++! If we could give a 6 stars on Yelp, we would. We feel it is under rated at 4.3. We are already planning our next visit to Bistro K, and can hardly wait. read more

Kudos to a great staff and chefs. Upon entering the restaurant, you are impressed at what seems to be your grandma's kitchen dining area. It's like being in someone's home, on the wall are family portraits. The menu is full of deliciousness. Staff couldn't have been more gracious and accommodating. The Bistro K catered a family event that I had and the service and food was awesome, a 10 out of 10. We had a charcuterie board and stuffed shrimp appetizer followed by their legendary boneless short ribs, chicken marsala, scalloped potatoes, asparagus, and their homemade dessert buffet. Katia the owner also organized live music for us and everyone had a wonderful time. Guys I need everyone to bffr. This place was weird, overpriced and the food was not even good. We went for lunch and paid 19 bucks for eggplant parm that tasted like it was nuked in the microwave. Paid another 21 bucks for room temp/cold lasagna. The proportions were sad and the prices are high. Some waiter man hung up his coat on one of the chairs at an empty table. Then he sat people there. They asked about the coat. He said it was his and then he just left it there???? Such a weird vibe here. I get crispier eggplant at Olive Garden. Also the bread came with no butter or oil. What an unexpected fabulous find within a small shopping center! I love the intimate atmosphere, the classy-&-comfortable furnishings, and the friendly-&-attentive service by the entire staff. I've dined here for a quiet-&-peaceful breakfast as well as during a couple of energetic and lively Friday night dinners -- with live entertainment. When we'd requested to share a salad, we were impressed how attractively they'd divided each of our plates. To date, of the entrees which (for the most part) we enjoyed, I least liked their Bistro K Sole (however, I should've known better since I don't particularly care for breaded meats. My hubby surprisingly ordered their Coconut cake for dessert (he's not a coconut-loving type of guy); we loved it: so light, extremely moist, and wonderful flavors and textures -- that we ordered it, again, on a return trip! We were looking for a spot to eat for my wife's birthday and coincidentally found this hidden gem of an Italian restaurant. It was last minute and they were able to take our reservation which was really nice. The other plus was that they had live music, which my wife loves. So it worked out perfect we came here for her birthday. I ended up ordering a special they had for that day which was the Osso Bucco. I will say that it was so delicious and tender. They hit it right on the spot. And the portion was huge. I almost couldn't finish it. All the food we ordered for my wife and kids was delicious. Their service was also on point. We love heading over to our favorite little spot bistro K... The food is always so delicious and the service is amazing . It seems like I always get the delicious fresh meatballs in marinara sauce with tons of fresh Parmesan cheese . They carry one of my favorite wines, Austin, Hope Cabernet. My girlfriend had the lobster ravioli and she said it was delicious . We wanted to sit outside, however it was a little bit chilly . so we got a very cozy booth, listening to all the great music. A well kept neighborhood secret. From the minute you enter and you are greeted you know you have made a great decision for Dinner. Very warm and friendly and the aroma of good food. They are busy but we are still greeted and seated in minutes. Our server (Female blonde) was very polite, professional and friendly. Shared the menu with us and offered recommendations based on our inquiries. My wife I had a wonderful meals linguine/clams and I had chicken Parmesan. Bucatini Della Nonna was one of the best pasta dishes I have had in a very long time. Shared with my sister so we went with the gluten free pasta which was quite good. I came into Bistro K this afternoon because of a social media question inquiring who had the best coconut cake in the area?! This place was voted on over 'n over on that particular post so I why wouldn't I stop in to try a piece? Ha! Prior to today, I'd never been inside Bistro K, but it looks very comfortable with overstuffed chairs, dim lighting, and cozy ambience. The young woman behind the counter (Alicia?) was friendly and very helpful. When asked, said told me a whole cake would be cost around $60.00 (one slice is $11.85) The cake is light and fluffy with almost a vanilla mousse consistency for the filling and it's not overly sweet like some frostings tend to be. It's a very nice piece of cake. I would not drive to the end of the earth to get it, but it's nice to know that they're in the neighborhood in case we want another piece. read more

After a co-worker recommended Bistro K, I finally found the best coffee in Orange County. I go to a new (Orange County) coffee shop every weekend. I'm always on the hunt for a good lattee, a seasonal beverage, taste, quality, and/or an experience/themed coffee shop. I'm an at-home-aero-press-fellow-fresh-ground-goose-neck coffee drinker who has roaster her own beans. Bistro K has been in business for 24+/- years. And, they're not in a spot with cheap rent or a great location to a wife population - yet, this one is worth the trip down Crown Valley Parkway - I'm sure! I get my latte 50% vanilla and 50% hazelnut. I recommend this combination and their lattes greatly. They have a cozy atmosphere with a touch of sophistication and charm, but not a lot of seats inside. I like to enjoy my coffee out on their patio in the early mornings. We had a number of different people come to our table, unfortunately no one returned & we were left without refills, water.
