Best food I've had in a long time. Came here for a small vacation and decided to try out this smokehouse. Best devision we made, food was amazing and the server was great. Give Justin a raise! Overall 6/10 for takeout I got wings with fries and Mac and cheese and a buffalo chicken wrap. Wings were a quite a bit undercooked and didn't have much sauce on the them (personal preference). Wings were a very good size for the price though. Fries were soft but great flavor. Mac and cheese was pretty mid decent portion, very cheesy but flavor was meh. We were seated promptly and our waitress Taylor was super friendly. I had the smoked wing dinner which was DELISH! The hubby had the smoked chicken thigh sandwich ('outstanding') and our friend, the pulled pork with the Cleveland topping. The price was very reasonable and value for what we had. I love the atmosphere, it has a beautiful view to the Ashtabula Harbor. In my opinion I feel ever since COVID, they have cut their menu down and it is lacking big time. This used to be my favorite restaurant in the harbor, now I am disappointed when I see their menu... I end up buying a beer, then leaving. They need to bring back the pretzels and cheese, and the Perch sandwich! Just going to say that this is the best bbq for the price that i have had in northeast ohio. I ordered the meat tray that came with all there meats and 2 sides, my wife got the 7 layer chilli that came with there house corn bread. The meat was very very good! The ribs were cooked to perfection, nice bite with a little resistance and didnt just fall off the bone which is a competition bite. The glaze had a touch to much honey flavor that over powered the nice smoke flavor. The smoked corned beef was well seasoned with peppered (akao pastrami) very tender and juicy my second favorite to my own. Brisket was also well smoked but not alot of other seasoning came though, meat was tender and juicy on the plus side. Pulled pork and pulled chicken had the same flavor profile and both were border line dry but had great smoke flavor. Last is the smoked turkey which had very nice flavor, great smoke but unfortunately it was the driest of all and least favorite. As far as the sides go we had cornbread which was amazing. The mac and cheese was good but not great, lacking in the gooey cheese and smoke department but the addition of pork in it was good. The coleslaw was not good at all it is vinegar based but has no flavor at all and not enough vinegar, i ordered it hoping the tang and freshness would cut the fat from the other meat and sides( let down needs work). Service and drinks are tops, very attentive never had a empty glass. The beer wine and liquor selection is on point and the long island i got was very well made. We found Briquettes by chance while looking for somewhere for lunch while staying in Geneva. I went to the Sea Glass Festival last year and didn't even know this hidden gem was there! The building and aatmosphere is so cool. It is true smoked food. You can see the smokers outside as you walk up. It was amazing! I had the pulled pork sandwich, pub chips, and mac n' cheese. The pork had the perfect amount of smoke for me. My husband had the smoked wings, brisket sandwich, and mac n' cheese. The cook recommended the maple mustard sauce with the pork. It was divine! Everything was outstanding. Meat was tender and we enjoyed their different sauces. Added an IPA to drink and sat outside on the patio. It made for a great summer evening and delicious dinner. Ventured out east to an area that remains a quaint, gem, Ashtabula Harbor District and a great BBQ spot! Between us we ordered one smoked turkey reuben, two orders of ribs, and the two meat dish with pork and brisket. First off, the drinks. Two mojitos that were thirst quenching and the ladies loved them. I and Steve had Stoli Vanilla on the rocks! Not only did they hit the spot, but at $4.50 a real bargain (yes we had more than one!!!) Now the meals. Steve was sandwich searching and asked our server about the turkey reuben and it was highly recommended. Steve said it was beyond a doubt the best he has ever eaten and would recommend this to anyone in the mood just for a sandwich. Linda and Carol ordered the 1/2 slab of ribs, dry rubbed. They helped themselves to a variety of sauces at the center of the serving area and started right in. All I can say, was the ladies were VERY quiet during dinner!! Both said the ribs were the bomb, although Carol likes ribs that fall off the bone. Other than that they both said the meat was perfect and with the different sauces, a great meal. Linda did leave one bone and instead of taking it home in a mini-doggie bag, I graciously tested the rib! Without any sauce, it was fantastic! Smoked just right, and I could have eaten three more, had there been three more! I choose the two meat dish with pulled pork and substituted the brisket for the chicken for a $1 more (well worth it IMO). Serving was huge, hot and with the table side sauce heaped on the plate, this was one of the, if not the best BBQ dish I've tasted in many a year. Each meat serving was ample in size and found absolutely no excess fat in the meats. That is something that stood out IMO! The sides of cornbread were warm and with a little butter, complimented the dishes very nicely. I had the Mac-n-cheese and coleslaw, while Linda had the apples and the broccoli side and Carol got the Mac-n-cheese and beans. No complaints about the sides but anyone except Steve who did not get two sides with his sammich!! All in all, a VERY pleasant surprise and a MUST try spot, even if you have no idea where Ashtabula Harbor is! Do yourself a favor, drop the address in your google maps or waze and get your butts out there before the summer is over. You will not be disappointed! NOTE: There is a great outdoor eating area but we choose indoors since it looked like it might rain and wouldn't you know it, soon as we got out plates, the sun came back out. Our friends have taken their friends, and on our last visit we brought our daughter and her boyfriend, who is from Oklahoma, and knows his BBQ. He was thoroughly impressed with his Meat Sampler, and he just went crazy for their Cornbread. He said that the stuff here is excellent! So there you have it, a testimonial from Oklahoma! The BBQ is your typical BBQ that you see down south. They polish it off by adding that unique touch to their coleslaw, bean salad and cornbread. It's all good and the employees are also very nice so tip them well. It would be nice for the food to be a few degrees warmer. Years ago I also recall getting a salad served in a bowl made of wood. I didn't care for that and never ordered a salad since. The mosquitoes can get pretty aggressive sometimes on the patio. However, the atmosphere and food are great and will keep coming back.
