I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to DIY repairs but each time I have gone into Brisbane Hardware, the customer service has been outstanding. The team is not only knowledgeable, but they are kind, friendly and explain in a way that does not make you feel inferior in the least - even when I go in using measurements like "I think it's the length of my finger" because I didn't have time to measure properly during the busy school day. I am a science teacher and I have gone there to get materials for my STEM elective class. I have explained what I am trying to do and have gotten great advice and guidance that has worked out each time. Even if they suggest a solution that is not within my budget, they will think of an alternative that will be "good enough" for what I'm attempting to do based on my constraints. They have even given me a teacher discount to help keep the costs down, without me even asking. I encourage people to come here to support a great local business and good people. The selection sometimes is not as vast as we would like, but I have found I can order online and pick up in the store avoiding driving to the big box stores. Really solid hardware spot in the small community of Brisbane. Don't expect a Lowe's or a Home Depot but they are well stocked with most day to day hardware needs and they have many friendly faces who will take the time to talk to you about what you're there for. Prices are also standard. I wish they would keep some plants/seeds in stock but otherwise really great place! read more

I had searched high and low to find a place that would re-key my old old locks. Home depot has a guy who comes in during the hours of 6am-11am, who the hell has those kind of hours? Like the rest of the population doesn't have to work. shesh. Called up Lowes, they only re-key locks that you buy from them. Yeah, you have to buy the locks from them, if i wanted to buy new f*@!!ing locks, I wouldn't have to jump thru hoops to find a place that would re-key them now would I? Thanks to my more than bright bf, he suggested I google hardware. And guess, just guess who's the first to pop up? Yup kiddies, that's right, ACE Hardware. I called up the location closest to me and the guy who picked up the phone at Brisbane Hardware was the nicest thing ever. He said, yeah, we re-key anything for $10. Dude, music to my ears. I gathered all my locks and drove the 5 minutes from my house to Brisbane (i never knew there was this quaint little town so close to my house, love it). Walked in and there were 3 guys waiting to help me, now that my friends is SERVICE. An hour later, with 4 rekeyed locks and 2 new keys I walked out of there a happy happy woman. Brisbane Hardware has a good selection of everything you need for the home. Some of their prices are high, but hey, this is a small business that has been there for years. I have never been turned away because they didn't have a fitting, fastener or type of tape that I needed. Hey SF, Next time you have to drive over to the dump, this hardware store is nearby and pretty good. Yes, I know there are good hardware stores in SF, BUT they can't carry some 'not friendly to the environment' products that I want......SF's got laws to protect us from chemicals. South City has no such laws, and Brisbane Hardware will order things for you if they don't have them in stock. Yay! My nasty rust stained toilet and I thank you even if the environment won't. And man am I glad I dont have to replace my expensive environmentally friendly toilet after all. read more

What a great store. A true gem in Brisbane, and I try to give them as much as my business as possible, in spite of the new Lowe's within easy driving distance. Casual, friendly and knowledgeable. I am surprised almost every time I go here, how they have whatever quirky/oddball thing I need. Yesterday I brought in a lamp that I'd broken and wanted to buy a new gizmo to screw the lightbulb into. Ends up it was a custom-designed part for that particular lamp -- however not to despair. Bill promptly pulled out his needle-nosed pliers and screwdriver, disassembled the whole thing, and came up with a creative way to attach a standard gizmo! I mean really... that he would spend 15min with me, actually FIXING my lamp, instead of just selling me a part and letting me figure it out? $4.34 including tax. I tell ya... I love these guys. This is a great hardware store! Our school cabinet was broken due to the handle falling off. I took the handle in to see if I could find comparable tiny screws to reattach the handle. Within minutes they helped me find the exact screws and our cabinet was fixed that afternoon. They are a very friendly and helpful! I would highly recommend this hardware store. read more

I was on the way to the airport (from SF) and had a few minutes, so stopped in here to get a snake for my clogged drain. The guy who helped me (young guy - I didn't get his name) really went the extra mile. He told me I'd probably need to take the sink pipes apart to really clean it out, and he even showed me how to do it. I was going to pour draino down the sink if the snake didn't do the trick, but instead I did as he instructed and cleared out the entire drain and pipes w/o using chemicals! It works great now. Thanks for taking the extra time to empower me to fix the thing on my own - my sink and I appreciated it! I'd definitely come back here. read more

Billy and crew have totally continued excellent service and public relations that has been Brisbane Hardware since I can remember. This store has been in Brisbane since the early 40's and well used by residents, plus out of town folks! Billy and staff are so helpful when you need to solve a problem with ants, what sandpaper to use or a stopped toilet! Their "green" cleaning supplies are great. I love the floor cleaner and use it often. You don't get this kind of service and smile when going to one of the "big boys." read more

Horrible!! Manager/Owner is very rude. We brought a window screen in for re-screening. Three weeks later we do not have it. We had to bring it back three time due to wrong size. We asked the Manager to call us but he never did - when we finally got him on the phone he was very rude did not care we were dissatisfied and hung up on me. I went in to pick up the new screen to have the Manager hand me my old screen and money. Instead of dealing with the issue he chose to coward out and refund us. Will not recommend and will never go back here. read more
