As one would expect, I was preoccupied with saving the world from its various problems such as curing cancer and other no-big-deal matters that are par for the course for yours truly. With formalities out of the way, I make my second coming on Yelp by way of reviewing Brisket City Craft BBQ and you're welcome. Our society has long accepted that I am nothing short of Barbecue Jesus with standards higher than Mt. Everest. When I drive past the likes of Dickey's, their staff tremble at my mere presence within a few hundreds yard of their establishment. I have shut down subpar BBQ joints with just a glance. I have ruled DFW BBQ reviews with an iron fist that shows no mercy to any heathen who dares to dishonor the culinary masterpiece that is Texas BBQ. Nonetheless, I decided to take a few of my friends (very important dignitaries, Victoria's Secret super models and others who can't get enough of me) to Brisket City...and found this place to be an ABSOLUTE GEM. Their brisket is a solid 11/10... cooked perfectly, moist, proper smoke ring, the right bark and immaculate flavor--a rarity around here. Finding such BBQ in DFW let alone Ellis County is rare. I have decreed that this places makes my top two along with Hutchins in Frisco. I shared some gentle recommendations with their staff on considering non apple cider vinegar based sauce as an alternative, albeit inexpensive addition that would appeal to wider palettes but we all know that real men don't put sauce on their meat anyway so no points deducted there but felt it was important for me to advocate for the trans community and others who must have their sauces. We went on a Friday evening and there was no wait. The menu was decent, but needed more vegetable side options. I was pleasantly surprised about the apple kale slaw, especially since I don't eat Cole slaw. My sister was disappointed since they were out of chicken, which is interesting since it was the weekend, so we would expect them to have all the options available. Really nice feature that they had a prayer board! Loved the customer service, the brisket and ribs were seasoned really well and very tender. The turkey was also tender. The fries needed to be cooked longer so they are crispy vs. being soft. I wasn't a fan of the macaroni and cheese. My cousin really enjoyed the baked beans. Nice that they also offered free desserts if you dined in, so we tried the banana pudding which I wasn't a fan of and the bread pudding, which my sister said was decent except that raisins were in it. I stopped by on the way home from an appointment and picked up a sliced brisket sandwich and jalapeno potato salad to go. I asked for lots of bark and received exactly what I wanted, a bark-covered fatty slice and a perfectly-crusted slice of lean. There was no sauce on the sammie and if you need sauce for this 'que, you probably put ketchup on your well-done ribeye. Leave this place to the carnivores who appreciate how meat is to be prepared. The jalapeno potato salad was good, a slightly runny, chunky kind with a mayo base. I prefer a smooth mustard version, but this one was above average. I didn't get an overwhelming jalapeno taste, which I wouldn't mind, but a slight hint of jalapeno. Overall it's worth the trip in my opinion. The order process was efficient and seamless. And the food was served promptly. I had a two-meat plate with sliced brisket and ribs. These were both fantastic. Brisket was a nice mix of some dry pieces with some moist and flavorful pieces. The flavor was great. Similarly, the ribs were excellent. Two sauce options - original and spicy. I tried them both and loved both. I love spicy stuff - the spicier the better, so I thoroughly enjoyed the "kick" that the spicy sauce had. I tried the fried okra - again, fantastic.
