Great food, great service, great smiles. Great old downtown atmosphere. Great price. And they cater!

Walking into this place immediately gives you the feeling of an old-school neighborhood BBQ joint. The building itself is older and pretty small, with just a handful of booths and several small tables packed into the dining area. The decor is very minimal, but one wall completely covered in customer signatures honestly adds a nice personal vibe to the place. Ordering happens at the register tucked into the back corner, so when there's a line it cuts right past some of the tables. Definitely close quarters while people are eating, but it somehow still fits the character of the place. The gentleman taking orders was friendly, just not overly talkative. The lady who brought our food out was very polite and welcoming though, which I appreciated. Overall, the service was okay. Our food took about 10-15 minutes to come out, which felt a little long considering it didn't appear very busy other than one larger party already seated when we arrived. To be fair, we couldn't see what was happening in the kitchen. The only real frustrating part was waiting close to another 10 minutes for a to-go container after asking a few times. As for the food, I'd say it landed somewhere in the average range for Texas BBQ. Nothing was outright bad, but nothing really blew me away either. I ordered the loaded baked potato topped with brisket, link, two pork ribs, all the traditional baked potato toppings, and their spicy BBQ sauce. First off, the potato itself was fantastic. Huge, perfectly tender, and honestly exactly what a baked potato should be. The toppings were fresh and plentiful -- butter, cheese, sour cream, bacon pieces -- and it could have stood on its own as a solid meal even before adding the meats. The brisket was over chopped, which personally isn't my favorite style at a BBQ joint. I usually feel like finely chopped brisket loses some of the texture and full smoke flavor you get from sliced or a coarse chopped brisket cut to order. It stayed moist, but I really didn't pick up much smoke flavor from it. The link was unfortunately overcooked and dried out. The casing had tightened around the meat, and even sliced up it just didn't have much juice left in it. The ribs were probably the weakest part for me. They were on the smaller side, dry, and pretty tough with the meat cooked down close to the bone. Now with all of that said, the seasoning on the meats was excellent. Bold flavor across everything, and the spicy BBQ sauce was absolutely on point. I just wish the meats themselves had a little more life and moisture to match how good the seasoning tasted. Overall, everything felt pretty average to slightly below average for me, especially by Texas BBQ standards. On the positive side, the prices were actually very reasonable considering how expensive meat has become these days. I'd still come back again because I'd like to try some of the meats individually and let them stand on their own without being loaded onto a baked potato. There's definitely flavor here -- I just think the execution was a little inconsistent during this visit. read more

As usual I met my two great brothers for lunch at Waxahchie at a place I have never heard before. We pick places at random. Albeit, we went to a small, but well established BBQ, restaurant called Fingers 2 Tha Bone. We were warmly greeted by two awesome people working there, Ms. Sheila, and Mr. K.T. They were both very welcoming, friendly attitude and warm smiles. A draw back, the mostly serve pork and only chicken wings and no bbq chicken awwn. The BBQ joint/restaurant is very small, but quite quaint very clean in appearance and well organized. Staff were very efficient and offered good advise. My brother's got the 1lb brisket, with onion rings and two glasses of tea. I opted for the chicken wings, fries and Dr. Pepper. Three fountain drinks, $12.75, 1 full pound of sliced brisket $28.99, regular onion rings $7.99, 1 regular potato salad $5.00, the wings w/fries $13.99. The grand total of $81.61 which included a $5.00 tip. Now, on to the food where do I start without sounding snooty? First, the onion rings were piping hot, crispy and probably one the tastiest onion rings I have ever tasted. My brother's said that the potato salad was very good as well. I was surprised that they didn't offer any bread like most bbq joints/restaurant. The brisket was sliced in good lengths the bbq sauces were served on the side and the sweet and spicy were very tasty. Which saddens because the the brisket was really lacking. We found the brisket to be dry, lacking taste and not moist and juicy like most briskets in bbq joints. What shocked me most were the size and portion of wings. The wings looked like they were taken of a Pterodactyl. They were pretty good size crispy, piping hot and very tasty, but the price, I thought more wings would have come with, sadly only three (3), count them 3 wings. At that price I was expecting 6 of them. The fries were very delicious, well seasoned and hot. I felt this place really didn't deliver like most bbq joints/restaurant. Even though the employees are very awesome and hard working, I don't believe we will visit here again any time soon. They're doing something right, because it didn't lack any customers. The customer service is great total small business and locally owned feel which is amazing and there isn't enough of this in the world today! Food was very solid! I loved the nachos because they used Doritos as the chips so the texture remained crispy throughout and Doritos are a great vessel for the brisket and cheese! Ordered the baked potato. The one for $22. The flavor profile is nice. Nothing special about it. Unfortunately, It tasted like the potato was recooked. It was very soft and gritty, like mashed potatoes. The brisket was like chopped shredded beef. I try to support local but this is a reoccurring issue when business is slow. Things didn't start off great when Yelp led us to a sketchy, broken-down storefront. But hey, we called the number and got the "new" (read: correct) address, which thankfully was nearby. Spoiler alert: they might want to update their signage game because the only sign was on the bottom right of the building instead of, you know, where you can actually see it. Now, let's talk about ordering. They have a fancy kiosk--brand new, apparently--but it's missing a bunch of drink options. So, after a few menu missteps, we ended up ordering the "Truth" baked potato. Figured it'd be quick since they weren't exactly packed. But nope, people were waiting... and waiting. We joined the line of waiters for about 15 minutes until our lukewarm potato arrived, drowning in sauce. This thing was a meat lover's dream with ribs, sausage, and brisket, but it was hard to tell if the brisket or sausage were any good under all that sauce. Also, BBQ is messy, right? Well, apparently, they missed that memo. No extra napkins or paper towels--just those plastic utensil packets with a lone napkin inside, plus a knife, fork, salt, and pepper we definitely didn't need. All in all, some easy fixes could make this place better, but it seems they only bring out the A-game for locals they know. For the rest of us? We ordered two sliced brisket sandwiches to the amount of $23.79. I have mot been this disappointed in a long time. The brisket was tough, chewy, and salty. It had no smoked smell or flavor. It looked like it had been warmed over several times as the meat was gray. Mr Tendernism need to come to Waxahachie to give them lessons. My wife and I stopped in after a baseball tournament after one of the baseball dads recommended it. Upon walking in, you just feel at home and know this is a one of a kind, kind of place. The staff/service was down to earth and very friendly. Lots of regulars stopped in, one was there for the 2nd time that day. The cashier recommended the fried chicken wings, which were cooked to order and absolutely amazing! By far the best fried chicken I've ever had. I drove from Dallas after church to visit this place that was highly recommended. I'm glad to know that other people had such a great experience because I did not. It's been a while and I really didn't want to go here but they really could have done better and I expect more from BOB. My friend is out that way and I couldn't even recommend this place because of my experience, so I ended up taking barbecue from a place in Dallas that was waaay better and the food was fresh and plentiful and the service was unmatched. The younger lady at the counter was polite, she took my order. A 3meat combo the lady who brought it out seemed like I was an inconvenience. When I looked in the bag and saw that there was no bread with that 3meat platter, I offered to pay for bread. She said that's okay. Took them 10 minutes to bring back 1 piece of bread cut in half. There was a kids baseball team there and the owners were dancing around refilling drinks, very hospitable. For a carry out I got non of that. On top of that my plate was extremely dry and it looks as if I got the sad end of the ribs for that day. The place was nice and clean. The best thing that I had was the dessert. It was nostalgic for my wife and I as it reminded us of the BBQ joints from our childhood. We both had the Truth Bake Potato. It was bussin! This place claims to have the best barbecue in Waxahachie....and well, I have to agree!!! Great customer service and they aren't stingy with the portions!! We ordered The Truth potato, it's HUGE!! Definitely shareable, it comes with 3 meats (chopped beef, sausage and ribs) and all the normal baked potato fixins. We also got a chopped beef baked potato (which is half the size of the The Truth, still a good size) and also a side of ribs. The one thing I like about this place is that they aren't stingy with the portions. I grew up in Southern Dallas (Oak Cliff) and one thing I like most about BBQ spots is how "messy" the baked potatoes are, messy to me is tons of fixings and sauce!! They aren't stingy with the portions at all and I ain't mad (I love food ‍). We spent a little over $40, which isn't what I expect to spend for 2 potato's and and a side of ribs, but we were satisfied with the meal so it was a win. One thing I notice about small restaurants in Waxahachie is that if you don't have cash, they charge a small convenience tax (3.8% tax I believe) to use a credit card (FYI). The phone number in Yelp has 214-463-5631,but the signage on the place has. 469-399-1203 for call-ins and 469-614-4900 for catering. They have outdoor seating in the front . Parking is very limited in the front, but you can always park on the curb-street. Called in our order with the 214 Yelp number. Inside was nice and spacious and had seatings also. I got the Truth Nachos and honey got the 3- meat plate with baked beans and potato salad sides.($41.70). Nachos come with chopped beef, sliced links and all the fixings.Deeee-lish! Doritos chips underneath all that smoky and flavorful goodness! The ribs and brisket were smoky and tender and moist. Best potato salad I have tasted in a while! Had some texture to it and was not like a mashed potato salad . The baked beans were full of flavor and had meat in it. Real friendly and down home folks inside. We were driving from Dallas to Georgetown and craving BBQ. We stopped in here and we're not disappointed. The minute we got out of the car we could smell the smoked meat. I had the Sunday special with meatloaf and it was amazing. My husband had the Truth Potato and it was HUGE and sooo tasty. We were all excited for the Kool Aid too! We'll definitely be back.
