Dog friendly indoors! If you like to bring your fur baby on your travels you bring them in to the Barrel. They don't serve food, only drinks, so you're allowed to bring your pups in. There are normally several food trucks that surround the Barrel which gives you a lot of food choices. Inside reminds me of the old town bars with wooden tables and a floor that is covered with saw dust. You can bring your food inside and then imbibe on great selection of adult beverages they have to enjoy your food with. Dog water bowls are provided throughout the establishment if your pups thirsty add well. Fun place to stop and fill your tank! read more

Extremely frustrated by the lack of consistency here. Our family has visited The Barrel for the last three spring breaks and it has always been a staple of our trip. Our kids (14 & 12) are experienced pool players; we typically play together as a family or let them play a game on their own while we enjoy a few rounds. We've been in 4 times this week alone and were welcomed every time. Today, we were abruptly told they couldn't play due to a 16+ rule by a young bartender who has always allowed us to play. He mentioned that the owner doesn't like kids playing and there is a sign. While there is a sign posted behind the wall and not clearly marked, it has been completely ignored by staff and other families for the years we've been coming here, and certainly wasn't mentioned during our other visits this week. Even today, it seemed to be selectively enforced. If a family is respectful, knows how to use the equipment properly, and has been welcomed all week, there should be some common sense and hospitality applied--especially for repeat customers. To allow it for days and then suddenly change the rules on our 5th visit is just poor hospitality and frankly feels slightly discriminatory. read more

Went for a wedding welcome party, and it was great! The vibes were perfect with the indoor and outdoor seating, there were so many great drink options, the service was very attentive, and the bbq food truck was really good! We got the brisket and really enjoyed it. The only thing is that you may have to wait a little for your food, but while you're in line, they have some pretty flowers in barrels and have a nice view. I also tried some of their canned hard kumbucha and I really enjoyed trying something different. We'd definitely return to have drinks with friends. read more

Fun experience with a fun bar and outdoor area but the bar tender at the outside bar was not fun. He was not very friendly and was not accepting to people making flights. He was stern to every person at the bar which did not create a good environment. read more

I really enjoyed my time here! So many drink options and I liked my cider. Staff was friendly and helped me quickly. There seems to be food trucks here but no food served. Just hosted our son's wedding rehearsal luncheon at The Barrel over Memorial Day weekend and would highly recommend using them for your next event in Estes Park! We had indoor reservation for 60 people in a separated area inside, where we had food and tables, but it also had overflow areas inside & outside to utilize and mingle. Ingrid was the event coordinator, and Nate was the lead bartender; both did an amazing job making our event and people feel special. Food truck(s) and local restaurants are nearby for catering options. read more

WARNING: Ingrid Bush, the owner of the Barrel, makes it clear--this place is NOT for events. Avoid at all costs. Ingrid's incompetence knows no bounds. She showed up two hours late to set up for our event, then had the nerve to scream at us when we expressed our frustration. Her utter lack of professionalism and respect for our contract turned what should've been a joyous occasion into a nightmare. Don't make the same mistake we did. Stay far away from the Barrel and its despicable owner, Ingrid. read more

So truth is things started out pretty well. My advice is to stop after my first paragraph. So they do a "build your own flight" and each taster is a different price so be sure to look at that. Second, there's nothing to carry the drinks in and they aren't labeled so good luck. Next up, the food truck. They had average pulled pork sandwiches and macaroni and slaw. They did close by 7 so I did see many families with kids get turned away. The manager said this is a typical closing time on food. I thought how interesting. So, things started to get crazy. Again, this is 7pm on the weekend so people were out. First we start out with Halloween music that then turned into to rave music by 7:30. People were commenting on how weird the music was getting. Next, we tried to get a second drink of one we had as a taster. When we asked for guava, he gave us another one so we asked to have the other guava we previously had. He told us to then pay for both drinks and "only some drinks can be refunded". How interesting I thought again. By the end of this hour we were confused. We highly recommend trying the place next door with food, a consistent genre of food and clearly explained drinks or improving this place. read more

Loved this gem! Lots of outdoor seating during covid and a food truck to order food. The selection of beer is incredible and they let you try a "splash" first if you're choosy (like me) or get a tasting flight if you have commitment issues (also me). Thats hey given how amazing their beer selection is - def need to come back to try more! The female bartender I had was super nice and friendly on the Saturday evening I went so no issues with service at all like other reviews noted. She was quite patient with me. The outdoor seating was super cute in a rustic way with string lights overhead. I had a pink flamingo beer on nitro which was so unique, smooth, and fruity. Super easy to down after a long day of hiking! Excited to go back post-Rocky Mountain NP again! read more

This review has specifically to do with our experience planning our wedding Welcome Party at The Barrel. We received the following email ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY DAYS after our private event contract was signed by both parties (and JUST 17 DAYS before our expected event): -------------- It has finally come to our attention that a major error was made by our previous event manager. It is with a heavy heart that I must relay some very unfortunate news. Due to the previous event manager's error, we are going to have to cancel your event. Please let us know the exact date payment for the reservation was made so that we can refund you the full amount. We greatly apologize and ask for your understanding. Have a great day! -------------- We initially received zero explanation as to why they were cancelling. Upon asking for an explanation, they claimed that they double-booked and the other party wanted the ENTIRE SPACE & apparently signed their contract in January of 2023 (our contract was signed in March of 2023). This is after our wedding planner spoke with their CURRENT event planner on to confirm ALL OF THE DETAILS a week ago. The Owners, Ingrid & Lou Bush, have not even had the courtesy or integrity to reach out to us and apologize. Instead, they are hiding behind their staff and blaming it on a "previous event manager" (assuming this is even the real reason and they didn't just get a bigger event with more potential revenue). Ingrid & Lou - when you hire a new person, the first thing you would do is go over all of the existing contracts that you have in place. As the Owners, THIS IS ON YOU. Hiding behind this type of excuse shows exactly what type of people you are, and all we can say is "good luck" running your business in the long term when you treat people like this. It sounds like from reading other reviews that much of the general public has already figured you out. So here we are, with our event in 17 days, scrambling to find a place that will host 45+ people. DO NOT TRUST THESE OWNERS WITH YOUR EVENT. read more

Update: Our bank refunded our deposit. When we told them what happened they considered it fraud and immediately refunded us without any questions. Today, July 26th, my sister went up to visit The Barrel, as my fiancé and I are currently out of town for work, to truly see how the renovations were coming along. Attached are the photos of what the indoors looks like. No wonder Ingrid has not gotten a temporary certificate of occupancy yet. It is still a construction zone and in this state I am baffled and so angry that she told me she could still guarantee that it would be ready to host my dress rehearsal dinn7 days. read more

A lovely tap house in a great location near lots of parking! We enjoyed a couple of local beers that the bar tenders recommended at they were tasty! We also purchased dinner from the food truck which was so delicious and convenient. They have a rotation of different food trucks so you'll likely have a different truck for each visit! 0 Stars - WARNING Hold your event here at your own peril. They don't honor their own contract you need to sign! This is a warning to all future party planners, wedding planners, brides, grooms etc. I am from out of state and I had signed an 11 page contract with them in March 2023. 19 days before our event they dropped our wedding planner an email saying with a heavy heart they were cancelling. No reason was initially given. Came to find out they multiple booked and "supposedly" someone rented the entire venue two months before us. Took them FIVE MONTHS to figure that out. Our wedding planner even confirmed details of our event two weeks ago. By the way - never a personal call from the owners, they hid behind Event Team signatures and email and blame it on an ex employee. The contract you sign isn't with their employees!!! . They refund your deposit, say they are sorry and we are left to scramble and find another venue within two weeks and notify ALL of our guests that they cancelled Mistake? Incompetence? Missing owners? Breach contracts? Fraud? Who knows but be warned! read more

Loved sitting outside to enjoy the food trucks! The beer selection is better than the food (at least for the truck that was there when I was). Came with a big group in the early evening and enjoyed every moment. This just seems like the perfect spot for some many needs: early dinner with kids and adults - The Barrel - they can play you can hang; unwind after hitting the mountain - The Barrel - plenty of places to sit and quick food; late night with a group - The Barrel - fun games and indoor/outdoor means you won't freeze even with a crew. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Ingrid B.

Saying Ingrid and Lou Bush have a passion for craft beer is quite the understatement. Over the last several years, they have spent a great deal of time honing their tasting skills, expanding their palates and learning about craft beer at various beer festivals and events around Colorado. This passion grew into a dream — a dream that brought them to Estes Park, Colorado, where in 2015 they opened The Barrel, a Bavarian-Style Beer Garden and Hall. We ordered apps next. I don't know why they think goat cheese is a good addition to potato leek soup. I figured I'd try it because why not. Not good. And the focaccia? Two small slices for $4? I would hope that the waiter would've told us what we were getting because yikes. Why is there more butter than bread? We would've paid extra for two more slices but the transparency made us feel jipped. Now let's talk food. Took about 45 minutes. It's busy, I understand. But honestly I thought it might've been out earlier because our food came out lukewarm. Borderline cold. And talk about salt!!! It was like eating the sea. My mom and I both ordered the filet and were horrified to see it was cut. A filet. It dries it out! But yeah, there was no balance. It was salt on salt on salt. Gross. The waiter was very nice and so was the manager. They asked to take it back. But honestly it was just bad so we were ready to leave. They brought out two free glasses of wine which again was nice. But we again, just wanted to be done and go home. We didn't get dessert even though it was offered. Everything fell so short that honestly I didn't even want to try dessert. Again-- the food is bad. All extremely salty. If you like that, there you go. But the fact that it was basically cold? Yeah that's unacceptable. And as I said, grateful to the staff. But starting off not having been sat for 30 minutes after making a reservation weeks in advance? This was pitiful to say the least. Don't go here unless you want drinks and a beautiful view.
