We had a great time at The Barrel! It's a pet-friendly spot with a relaxed atmosphere and a huge selection of drinks. We sampled a beer flight with four beers and also ordered a margarita. One of the bartenders was fantastic. She took the time to ask what flavors I liked, recommended a different liquor for my margarita, and customized it to better match my taste. It turned out great, and I really appreciated the extra effort. The male bartender was friendly, but I was a little disappointed when I asked if they could make an espresso martini. He said they didn't have the ingredients, even though they had another coffee-based cocktail on the menu. It would have been nice if he had suggested a creative alternative using the cold brew or whatever they had available. Not a big deal, just a missed opportunity. They don't appear to serve food themselves, but there was a food truck parked outside when we visited, which was a nice bonus. Overall, we had a great experience. The atmosphere was fun, the drinks were good, it's dog-friendly, and we'd definitely stop by again the next time we're in Estes Park. read more

Dog friendly indoors! If you like to bring your fur baby on your travels you bring them in to the Barrel. They don't serve food, only drinks, so you're allowed to bring your pups in. There are normally several food trucks that surround the Barrel which gives you a lot of food choices. Inside reminds me of the old town bars with wooden tables and a floor that is covered with saw dust. You can bring your food inside and then imbibe on great selection of adult beverages they have to enjoy your food with. I loved this place - a little hole in the wall beer garden that we stopped at post hike. They have a rotating food truck - we got Westtex on Sunday April 13 and it was unreal. Extremely frustrated by the lack of consistency here. Our family has visited The Barrel for the last three spring breaks and it has always been a staple of our trip. Our kids (14 & 12) are experienced pool players; we typically play together as a family or let them play a game on their own while we enjoy a few rounds. We've been in 4 times this week alone and were welcomed every time. Today, we were abruptly told they couldn't play due to a 16+ rule by a young bartender who has always allowed us to play. He mentioned that the owner doesn't like kids playing and there is a sign. While there is a sign posted behind the wall and not clearly marked, it has been completely ignored by staff and other families for the years we've been coming here, and certainly wasn't mentioned during our other visits this week. Even today, it seemed to be selectively enforced. If a family is respectful, knows how to use the equipment properly, and has been welcomed all week, there should be some common sense and hospitality applied--especially for repeat customers. To allow it for days and then suddenly change the rules on our 5th visit is just poor hospitality and frankly feels slightly discriminatory. read more

Went for a wedding welcome party, and it was great! The vibes were perfect with the indoor and outdoor seating, there were so many great drink options, the service was very attentive, and the bbq food truck was really good! We got the brisket and really enjoyed it. The only thing is that you may have to wait a little for your food, but while you're in line, they have some pretty flowers in barrels and have a nice view. This place is always crowded at night so I stayed away from it for a while, but I finally got the chance to go during the day and it is worth the hype! What I ordered: they have sooo many beers on tap, it was hard to choose. For my first beer I got the Berry beer (the first in the menú under fruity (pictured)). It was so yummy! For my second drink I got the berry cheesecake beer and it was my absolute favorite! They also have food trucks that come during the day in case you're hungry! We had indoor reservation for 60 people in a separated area inside, where we had food and tables, but it also had overflow areas inside & outside to utilize and mingle. Ingrid was the event coordinator, and Nate was the lead bartender; both did an amazing job making our event and people feel special. So truth is things started out pretty well. My advice is to stop after my first paragraph. So they do a "build your own flight" and each taster is a different price so be sure to look at that. Second, there's nothing to carry the drinks in and they aren't labeled so good luck. Next up, the food truck. They had average pulled pork sandwiches and macaroni and slaw. They did close by 7 so I did see many families with kids get turned away. The manager said this is a typical closing time on food. I thought how interesting. So, things started to get crazy. Again, this is 7pm on the weekend so people were out. First we start out with Halloween music that then turned into to rave music by 7:30. People were commenting on how weird the music was getting. Next, we tried to get a second drink of one we had as a taster. When we asked for guava, he gave us another one so we asked to have the other guava we previously had. He told us to then pay for both drinks and "only some drinks can be refunded". How interesting I thought again. By the end of this hour we were confused. We highly recommend trying the place next door with food, a consistent genre of food and clearly explained drinks or improving this place. read more

This review has specifically to do with our experience planning our wedding Welcome Party at The Barrel. We received the following email ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY DAYS after our private event contract was signed by both parties (and JUST 17 DAYS before our expected event): -------------- It has finally come to our attention that a major error was made by our previous event manager. It is with a heavy heart that I must relay some very unfortunate news. Due to the previous event manager's error, we are going to have to cancel your event. Please let us know the exact date payment for the reservation was made so that we can refund you the full amount. We greatly apologize and ask for your understanding. Have a great day! -------------- We initially received zero explanation as to why they were cancelling. Upon asking for an explanation, they claimed that they double-booked and the other party wanted the ENTIRE SPACE & apparently signed their contract in January of 2023 (our contract was signed in March of 2023). This is after our wedding planner spoke with their CURRENT event planner on to confirm ALL OF THE DETAILS a week ago. The Owners, Ingrid & Lou Bush, have not even had the courtesy or integrity to reach out to us and apologize. Instead, they are hiding behind their staff and blaming it on a "previous event manager" (assuming this is even the real reason and they didn't just get a bigger event with more potential revenue). Ingrid & Lou - when you hire a new person, the first thing you would do is go over all of the existing contracts that you have in place. As the Owners, THIS IS ON YOU. Hiding behind this type of excuse shows exactly what type of people you are, and all we can say is "good luck" running your business in the long term when you treat people like this. It sounds like from reading other reviews that much of the general public has already figured you out. So here we are, with our event in 17 days, scrambling to find a place that will host 45+ people. This is a warning to all future party planners, wedding planners, brides, grooms etc. I am from out of state and I had signed an 11 page contract with them in March 2023. 19 days before our event they dropped our wedding planner an email saying with a heavy heart they were cancelling. No reason was initially given. Came to find out they multiple booked and "supposedly" someone rented the entire venue two months before us. Took them FIVE MONTHS to figure that out. Our wedding planner even confirmed details of our event two weeks ago. By the way - never a personal call from the owners, they hid behind Event Team signatures and email and blame it on an ex employee. The contract you sign isn't with their employees!!! . They refund your deposit, say they are sorry and we are left to scramble and find another venue within two weeks and notify ALL of our guests that they cancelled Mistake? Incompetence?
