Came to Bristol for a sweet treat since my friend told me they had a wide selection of yummy pastries. I got the carrot cake slice and the original chocolate chip cookie. The carrot cake was delicious! Super moist and wasn't too sweet either. The frosting could use a bit more of a cream cheesy flavor but otherwise it was yummy. The original chocolate chip cookie was hot, fresh, and filled with lots of chocolate chips too. There were nuts inside the cookies and the cookie had a good texture. Service was excellent! I purchased a cake from Bristol Farms, and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. The cake tasted stale and had a noticeable refrigerator taste and odor, as if it had been sitting in storage for too long. This was especially embarrassing because it was purchased for a special anniversary celebration and served to family and guests. I ordered a chocolate cake for my sister's birthday, and unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The frosting tasted very similar to canned Duncan Hines frosting. I wasn't expecting the best chocolate cake I've ever had, but for the premium price, I expected much better quality and flavor. The biggest letdown was the cake itself--it was extremely dry. I love this store overall. They have a lot of ingredients I can't get at most grocery stores. I also love the gift shop at this location. You can always find really unique gifts. The staff here are very helpful and I'm so glad that this store is near us. I only knocked off one star because a red velvet cake we got recently was not as good as we expected, I'm not sure why. It's been a long time since I've been to Bristol Farms to shop. This most recent trip was to come in and get their cookies. It wasn't very too hard to find once I walked through the door as it was on the left-hand side in the bakery section and they had all the cakes there in display and they have a promotion of to buy six get one free and that's it what I got. The price is very quick and easy and then I took it to the front registers and shortly after I was able to check out. It's beautiful market in here and there's lots of great selection in here I should try to park further in the back just because the front is where people tend to park and it gets a little bit hectic at times. My shopping trips here are usually pretty short. I visit Bristol Farms for specific items and I usually know exactly what I want. I like the quality of the products and the cleanliness of the store. Some of my favorites are their cookies and their soup bar. It was really nice when they had a restaurant in here. It's too bad they no longer have it. I used to come here only when I had to because they had so many solicitors outside. Thankfully, they've fixed this. SERVICE I've had good experiences ordering at the cold salad bar and at check out. BF often has special deals. Sometimes these deals are really popular and they will sell out. I like how BF will stick to their offer and either offer a substitute or a rain check. Bristol Farms has really good cooked Teriyaki Chicken, and Orange Chicken. I really appreciate their prepared foods section. They charge $11.99 by the pound. I am not a fan of their Chicken Curry Salad. It was kind of an abomination. The Chicken Salad is a hit or miss depending on what chicken they use: shredded or fresh. The Bristol Farms in hidden hills is way superior in cleanliness and Chicken Salad Taste. In terms of their cooked ribs, it was also very mid. I'll stick to the prepared foods. This location is the closest in the area and sell an assortment of high quality items. I like the cheeses and the spreads they have. The chips are on sale as well. There was once a time when Bristol had a seating area where the bakery is now. That was enjoyable to eat and drink. Now they have something similar in the back. I would like to suggest adding the salad bar/hot foods bar back there along with tables. Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and Newport has these quick and convenient food bars. I would love to have one here too. One thing negative about this location is the "newer" seafood guy. He is Hispanic and is of bigger build. He is always unfriendly and condescending. This was my first time at Bristol Farms and I was horribly mistreated. As I was in the milk aisle an employee, who was rolling a huge cart of produce almost bumped into me. Now of course I saw this as mistake but my hands were completely full with glass bottles of milk and I couldn't move anywhere (mind you the WHOLE aisle was empty) but he just had to go through the little space I had. I kindly called him out for bumping into me and his replies were rude, he was racist and never said sorry. Then made sure he got by me and bumped into me purposely. This review is for the poke bowl only. I was in search of a place nearby my that had poke similar to Hawaii and the style of their poke bar reminded me of the poke back home. The two poke options were the aloha tuna poke or the spicy tuna poke. Both were shoyu based. First you would choose your rice (white or brown), your poke of choice and any additional sides. The options were kimchi, seaweed salad, seafood louie (creamy mayo-based crab/shrimp) and cucumbers. One thing I was disappointed by was the amount of poke. I only come to Bristol Farms for one thing and one thing only. The Cookie. Is this a thing? Is this old news? I feel like everyone I take never knew thing was a thing. The cookie is like a modest Levain cookie. The walnut chocolate chip cookie warmed is the best mess you will ever make! Very disappointing service for a "high-end" store. I called ahead to ask whether this location had a specific item in stock (a dill sauce). The employee who answered the phone had extreme difficulty understanding me, even after I carefully spelled the item using the NATO phonetic alphabet (e.g., "D as in Delta, I as in India"). After multiple attempts, he still didn't understand and kept asking if I meant "salt," even though I clearly said it was a condiment. When I politely asked to speak with someone else, he hung up on me. I called back and was told it was a mistake, but the same issue continued. Eventually I gave up. My husband then called and had the same experience with a different employee--no real effort to help. We went into the store in person because the sauce we had previously purchased was expired (the reason I was trying to confirm availability). A manager told me they didn't have it but said I could return it and continue shopping, which I did. At checkout, the return and purchase were handled separately. I paid for my items with a credit card. When I later reviewed the return receipt, it showed a cash refund, even though I had not received cash and had used my credit card. I went back to the cashier and pointed this out, telling him the receipt showed no credit card information and no credit. He looked me in the eye and told me I would see the credit on my card within 24 hours. Something felt wrong. When I got to the car and showed my husband the receipt, he went back inside to question it. Another cashier immediately handed him the cash--confirming the refund had not been processed properly and that the money had not been returned at all. I later called and spoke with management to explain what happened and received very little concern. This is Bristol Farms. Prices reflect a premium experience. What I encountered instead was poor communication, careless service, and a serious issue with honesty. Completely unacceptable for a store of this caliber. read more

I love Bristol Farms. I have been coming here for a long time, Thai beef salad used to be the south west beef salad. The service has improved exponentially and I love coming here to pick up goodies like sweets and salad. I love the big chocolate chip cookies and their hot bar has roasted turkey all year round. I bought a half pecan pie and a half pumpkin pie this year for thanksgiving and they were delightful. I love Ms Jun, she is always helpful. Two thumbs up. read more

Review based on a recent visit and mainly for the cookies: I used to live down the block from here, but only came in a few times. That was well over a decade ago so I completely forgot what the store looked like. Recently, I heard about their amazing cookies so I had to try them. The bakery is right by the entrance to the left, you can't miss it. The cookies are proudly displayed behind a glass partition. They currently have 3 kinds: Milj chocolate, dark chocolate with walnuts and peanut butter. They're big, warm, chewy and as good as what people say. The peanut butter cookie is thicker than the other two, is about the size of a small burger and my favorite out of the 3. The milk chocolate is also really good but a bit too sweet for my taste. Still, very good in limited amounts. The staff there are all very friendly but ironically, the gal at the bakery that helped us didn't look like she was having a good day. I bought 8 cookies and asked how long they would keep. She just gave me a blank stare and said 'I don't know.' Oh well, her attitude didn't change the taste of the cookies so I'll be back for more. read more

Super nice grocery store in South Pasadena, with the freshest and most appealing looking set of produce (especially the fruit) that I've seen , even superior to Whole Foods. There is free parking, but that many spots and it was pretty full even on a Wednesday afternoon. Right next door with a separate entrance, is the Bristol Farms Cafe, but inside it didn't seem to be operating (instead being used as a staging area for the pre-prepared foods part of the Bristol business and floor space for kitchen tools). In the grocery store itself, we realized how nice of a place it was to shop. They have a nice bakery area, and we stopped to get two of the famous 'the cookie' original style, which is belgian chocolate, cocoa with toasted walnuts and sea salt ($3.75 for each giant cookie). We noticed a small poke bar (salmon and tuna), which didn't seem to be very popular. They have a decent selection of craft beers in bottles as well. We also ended up buying just one ataulfo mango and will see if we can grow a plant out of it from the seed. Per Martha Stewart online, it is possible. read more

We try to have a tradition to go to a Bristol F any time we were in the Los Angeles area. One the last night before we came back to Norcal, I saw one in Pasadena off the freeway exit by Fair Oaks. I made it a point to grab breakfast items and road trip snacks for the trip home. I went fairly early around 6:45 am and they already had Breakfast bar items set up. French toast mash up, Breakfast Burritos, and some Sandwiches, as well. I grabbed a few times and definitely grabbed some cookies from the bakery. The bakery staff were no where to be found. I waited good 10 mins to get someone's attention. I wanted to get chicken from the meat department and again no one acknowledged me for a while. The service here seemed unfriendly but again it was my first time here which doesn't matter cause good customer service skills should be practiced every day. Bristol Farms always has some special sauces, pastas, oils, etc.... The salad dressings I like the most they have it here. The Lemonette brand. So delicious. I had to get a few bottles. If you're looking for fresh turkey, to cook for Thanksgiving or Christmas, Bristol Farms is the place to go. For 19 of the past 21 years, I've cooked turkey for family or friends for Thanksgiving and Christmas. That's a total of 38 turkey dinners I've prepared, so you could consider me a proficient turkey chef. I've cooked turkeys purchased from Walmart, Target, Costco, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Erewhon. There is no discernable difference between a Butterball brand turkey, at 97 cents per pound, and a $5.99 per pound turkey from Erewhon. In fact, I'd half jokingly say they're both processed at the same turkey plant. The only turkey I did not have a good experience with was when I bought the Trader Joe's kosher turkey in 2019 (TJ markets it as "All Natural Glatt Kosher Young Turkey"). I thought I screwed up on the first one on Thanksgiving, because it was salty, bought it again for Christmas, added no salt, and realized it is a salty bird by default. People say the kosher turkey is "juicy," but that's the salt water brine smh! The other TJ turkeys I tried in prior years, as well as the more "premium" brands from Costco, and Whole Foods, are fine, but Butterball is best, tastes and looks exact same as frozen turkey from Erewhon, but cheaper (and also includes giblets for more [richer] homemade gravy that some brands don't include). However, I will say Bristol Farms stands slightly above the rest when it comes to their *pre-brined* fresh turkey. But, it all comes down to how you thaw the turkey (assuming it's frozen), how the turkey is brined, whether you cook the turkey with its skin covered in butter or olive oil--with various herbs--on both sides, what type of fruits, vegetables, and herbs are stuffed inside the turkey (and below the turkey) as you cook it, how carefully you cook the turkey to the proper temperature (food thermometer is key), as well as how carefully you prepare the turkey stuffing. There are advantages to frozen turkeys. With frozen turkeys, you know they are likely preserved at the proper temperature after processing. Also, you can decide what ingredients to brine it with (and whether it's a wet or dry brine). Overall, so long as you properly thaw frozen turkeys, I think frozen turkeys--particularly, the Butterball brands--are best. BUT, if you are looking for the best fresh turkey, and you are willing to pay a bit more, Bristol Farms is the place to go. I bought turkeys from Bristol Farms last Thanksgiving and Christmas of 2024. This year, I'm debating whether my turkeys will again be from here. Is $5.49 per pound worth a very slightly more juicy and very slightly more quality meat texture? (Downside is the pre-brined turkeys from here only go up to about 15 lbs.--whereas you can buy Butterball turkeys up to about 25 lbs.) read more

We looked all over town for a restaurant to cater a Christmas meal for an elderly relative. All local favorites were not doing take-away meals. I tried South Pas Bristol Farms and was directed to a concierge at the entrance to the store who patiently took my order. On Christmas Eve we picked up the food. The process was efficient, quick and flawless. The prime rib was described as incredibly delicious, as were the sides. This saved us so much time and energy that I think we must repeat the process next year! read more
