Had a reservation at another place but I decided and give this Bakery a try it would be my second time here in 25 years. Man I tell you [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambience makes you feel at home like the traditional days im talking New York Friends Coffee Shop scenes minus the couch and stage but those are extras right.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This Bakery keeps it simple yet exquisite, Not so Hidden gem in South Pasadena.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This corner bakery literally Union Bakery cause I feel like it brings the crossroads together in one of the greatest Tree Cities in America. Their customer service is very patience, friendly, and attentive. A plus overall would be back frfr if I'm in the area shot I might even bring a first date here hahahaha. PS Food is amazing and orgasmic the taste buds don't lie, I want their recipes lol

The $14 dollar veggie sandwich #trash

Don't buy a veggie sandwich from here if you don't want it to ruin your day. The veggie sandwich comes with literally lettuce, tomato, and cheese (and some mustard) for a whopping $14!!! This is just pure wrong.

Driven by this bakery a few times and decided I would give a try last week. I bought the larger lemon blueberry muffin and a brownie. It was actually like a chocolate lava cake of some sorts. The muffin was delicious it had such a good burst of flavor. Loved it. The chocolate was good too, but the lemon blueberry was better and I preferred more. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was very cute, small and rustic kind of feel to it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the biggest surprise of all. When I went to pay it was $22 for 2 pastries!! I was thinking holy moly wow. I couldn't believe it. It was my mistake that I didn't ask for pricing, but I went ahead and got the pastries this time. Not sure if I'd go back again with the outrageous pricing. I understand inflation, but that's just ridiculous. In the end pastries were good, but pricing was a dealbreaker. Very disappointed that this bakery succumbed to the over inflated prices.

Pumpkin pie and XL blueberry muffin. Delicious but $21 :/

Would be a regular customer if it was priced a little more reasonably. Delicious pastries. But more expensive than Urth Cafe

I would not have discovered this hidden gem of a bakery if not for the amazing review penned by my good friend Nikki B. So thank you Nikki for introducing me to this adorable neighborhood bakery! Union Bakery is small but they have an array of pastries and breads on display. I ordered a few different baked goods and was happy with my choices overall. Like my friend Nikki mentioned, the scones here are exceptional. The scone was filled with fresh cranberries and dusted with sugar on top. It had the perfect consistency, and wasn't too dry or heavy. As good as it was though, my favorite item was the strawberry cream cheese pastry, which was absolutely scrumptious warmed up. The cookie was pretty good too, and I enjoyed the raspberry compote filling. I wasn't much of a fan of their bread pudding though, as I felt it was too eggy and soggy. Overall, I enjoyed most of the treats I purchased that day. The baked goods here are a little pricey, understandably, due to the natural and high quality ingredients they use. So I will go back, no question, but only when I'm ready to splurge since I'm incapable of walking away with just one or two pastries. Haha.

Union Bakery is a small family-owned café that was established in 2002. Wally (husband) takes care of the day-to-day operations, and Joon (wife) does all the baking. (She's a certified pastry chef.) I've had their lemon bars and cookies before at a friend's house a few years ago. I remember they were very tasty, so I decided to stop by and pick up a treat for my hairdresser on my way to my appointment. When I walked in I was greeted by the delicious smell of fresh baked goods. It was delightful. Wally was having a friendly conversation with some regulars, and Joon was bringing warm croissants straight out of the oven into the display case. I selected a Blueberry Muffin ($4) for Stephanie and a cranberry scone ($4) for myself. Stephanie loved the muffin. It was packed with fresh Blueberries. She said it was, "So good!" The scone was exceptionally good. It had the consistency of a biscuit and contained fresh cranberries and a light sugar coating on top that provided a hint of sweetness. It was delicious warmed up with some butter. I loved it! The place is small with limited seating. Everything is baked with natural ingredients, so the prices are slightly higher. Cold & hot drinks are available in addition to quiches and sandwiches, which are served on housemade bread. *Small parking area in the back or street parking.

I'm spotted Union Bakery when I was driving my wife to work. I went in to check out what they baked. The place is quaint with two showcases. One was filled with all their baked goodies. As always, when I see a croissant, I have to try it. The croissant costed $4.00. Not bad. It's on the small size. I like my croissant crunchy on the outside, chewy with lots of layers on the inside and just the right amount of buttery taste. Union Bakery falls short of that. Not crunchy, not a lot of layers on the inside. It was chewy with a hint of the buttery taste. That's not to judge them on the other baked goods. They may be very good. Therefore, I'm going to be generous and give them the following: DJ's rating; 3.50/5.00 Would I come back? Yes, to try other baked goods. PS. My favorite place for croissant is Pastry Delight in Pasadena. I've tasted croissants from Vancouver, NYC, SF, San Diego, Las Vegas and Boston.

My husband was raving about this bakery, I personally thought it was little pricy. $4.50 for a tiny cookie. He convinced me so we treat ourselves on weekends. Today, we were in hurry, just picked up one cookie came home and super disappointed what we saw in the bag . They gave us all messed up cookie. As you can see bottom of the cookie is missing. I don't know what happened because 50% of this cookie is missing and I just taste bitter baking soda. It's pretty upsetting that they over charge and can't even give out decent cookies.

We should have allowed that to be our indiscretion for the day. But nooooo. Mr. B can smell sinfully yummy calories, even with a bag over his head, a mile away. Their specialty... chocolate croissants. Thus, we let Artisanal Goods lure us in. No parking, way too busy, way too full to seat us, a line bursting out the door, the tiny bakery cafe still seduced us. That is, Mr B circled the block in the car but pushed me out to get in line. It was the idea of a flaky, buttery, chocolate croissant crumbling all over his shirt that made him do it. And I had no intention of saying no. The line went quickly. The last Kouign Amann had just escaped my clutches to the guy in front of me, darn it. But there were still trays upon trays of freshly baked, massive chocolate croissants displayed in their custom, wood display case right next to the register. Sorry about no pictures, but you know how things get out of hand sometimes. However if you want to experience an orgasm in pastry form, I suggest you high tail it here.

Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt like I was inconveniencing them just by ordering. A friendly attitude goes a long way, and that was completely missing. The coffee was even more disappointing. It had almost no flavor and tasted watered down, especially for the price. I expected a quality drink, but it was bland and absolutely not worth what I paid. To make matters worse, we were told to leave the patio an hour before the shop was even closing. If the patio has different hours, that should be clearly communicated instead of asking paying customers to leave early. Overall, this was a frustrating experience. Between the unfriendly service, flavorless coffee, and being asked to leave well before closing, I won't be coming back. There are plenty of other cafés in Pasadena that offer much better coffee and treat their customers with respect.

There is a smallish macaron counter with popular flavors and can be boxed up to bring home. With about 15 tables (a couple of tables for larger groups), there's a steady stream of people here and it would be a matter of time when lines will form out the door. Service is super attentive. Came here for the souffle pancakes and they didn't disappoint!…read more My party of 3 stopped by Saturday afternoon 2:30 pm and it wasn't crowded. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose outdoor since it was such a nice day out. They have all of their desserts on display in the case, so you can peruse the options and see what looks good. So many of the desserts looked good, like the matcha yuzu chiffon crepe cake or the rose and lychee crepe cake. We ordered via the kiosk and got the mango sunshine souffle pancake ($16.50) and well as a couple drinks. My drink was the white peach lemon jasmine bliss ($6.25), with 50% sweetness and less ice. Even though there are signs everywhere saying that it takes 15-20 minutes for the souffle pancakes to be cooked, ours came out super quickly, in 5 minutes or so. We got it with the sauce on the side, but I regret doing that as I saw others getting it with the sauce on top and it was beautiful. The pancake was super fluffy and a bit eggy as well. We all really enjoyed it with the mango sauce. I made the mistake of eating the pancake first before trying a sip of my tea. The pancake was pretty sweet, so I could barely taste my drink, but I think it was good? I could taste a bit of the lemon but definitely not the white peach, which is a lighter flavor. I got a slice of their Hokkaido cheese cake roll for $7 to go and had it the next day. It was okay but definitely a bit pricy for what you get. I'd love to come back to try their other desserts and pancakes!
