    The selection

So I stopped by Metric Coffee to try out the new Brite donuts and pastries. I was surprised by the selection, they had quite a few options. I went with the Earl Grey Sticky Bun, the Carrot Cake Donut, and the pineapple, canadian bacon croissant. The croissant was delicious! Very flavorful. The sticky bun was alright. Not enough cinnamon filling between the layers and on the edge of dry. The carrot cake donut was the biggest let down though. I didn't get carrot cake at all. They had orange gummies on top with a little flavor but the rest just tasted kind of like a greasy fried donut. I think if I went back I would stick with the croissant or try a more traditional donut.

I got these donuts from this new place that opened up during COVID and they were so amazing and great that I wrote some feedback to hello@enjoybrite.com "I just wanted to send some feedback that I really loved the donuts I got this past weekend. I loved the matcha puffed grains, but the lemon black lime was especially a hit! The filling was delicious and all the textures of the yeast donuts were so delightful. Was also a fan of the Earl Grey morning bun the Earl grey flavor was delicious :) thank you so much!!" Always give love and feedback and positive encouragement to everyone if they're doing amazing!!! These donuts... SLAPPED. The lemon black lime was amazing. Didn't try any of the cake donuts since I'm not a huge fan of those so can't speak to those but their yeasty light and fluffy donuts were amazing. When you bite into them it's like a cloud. Very reminiscent of a lot of desserts I ate in Japan so that was great. The puffed grains were so texturally fun. The filling in the lemon black lime apparently is black lime????? It tasted very floral so I wouldn't have expected it to be a lime I'd say it's something more like rose or grapefruit tasting to me. Not sure how blackening lime makes this happen but I'm happy it happened. So delicious. Don't have a picture of the box outside but it's super cute!! And there's a cute sticker with a wolf on it to seal it all up :) love the branding of this place and the curbside pickup service was great too. The guy was giving a box of donuts to someone and was already on the way grabbing my donuts by the time I stopped to call. Super fast. The pick up area is in an unassuming place. If you are in an industrial looking street with no signs and you're confused that's good. I need more of these donuts... Now.

I ordered a variety of 6 donuts for my family in order to sample a lot at once. We ordered for pick up online through Tock: https://www.exploretock.com/enjoybrite/ The donuts we received were: Horchata, London Fog, Lavender Cold Brew, Chocolate Sprinkle, Champurrado Crueller, Chocolate Thin Mint The family favorites were the Chocolate Thin Mint and the Champurrado Crueller. I also liked the London Fog. The Horchata had a filling that isn't usually something I love, but it was really good (though I would have loved it if the filling was a smaller amount, but I figure I'm in the minority on that). Presentation for each of them was great! Picking up the order was strange as I was to call upon arrival and the donuts would be brought down. I called the number twice and it wasn't picked up, which worried me. But shortly someone called my number back and they handed off the donuts right away!

To pickup directly from Brite you need to order at least 24 hrs in advance, so we got a 6 pack from Metric Coffee instead. Fun fact - they offer a 15% discount when you buy 6 donuts! We got there Sunday around 11am and there were a few people in line and donuts were almost sold out. All the flavors are great and not overly sweet. The flavor of the blood orange fritter was a little milder than I expected but still delicious and I wish there was more icing on the berry French Toast but I can overlook it because they're all very well made donuts! I've got my eye on their savory pies to order next.

Cold brew cream donut with blueberry glaze was amazing. I'm blown away, and I'm not usually a donut person.

Both were delish! The glazed donut was fluffy, sweet and my fave. My husband loved his old fashioned donut! He said it was crunchy yet moist. We also both got the Hot N' Spicy chicken sandwich which was so good!! Flavorful and spicy, with toppings that helped add some freshness to it. Pair it with a soft brioche bun, and this sandwich was heavenly! Def check this spot out for breakfast! One of the best places we tried while in Chicago!

Pulled up just before 6:30 AM on a weekday and there were just a few folks ahead of us in line, but service is quick. Cake donuts were actually pretty solid here; the Blueberry Cake Donut was the best item, super soft and moist with a good amount of berries throughout. The Pistachio Cake Donut for some reason was texturally firmer and drier than the other. Unfortunately, the fried donuts were all misses. The dough was just really dense and none of the toppings really hit. The Glazed Donut just made me sad that the dough was bad and the bacon on the Maple Bacon Donut wasn't crispy, so you got a cold, chewy, greasy bite that wasn't super pleasant. The chopped dough pieces in the Apple Fritter were also oddly firm instead of soft. For a place with rave reviews, I was pretty bummed by the donuts, but maybe the fried chicken sandwich is where it's at.

Tbh I remember being disappointed because of the hype. Today I entered with tempered expectations. I tried the Old Fashioned doughnut and it was somewhere between solid and above average. I'll definitely stick with Do-Rite especially because they're a few blocks away and significantly better. If the job catered Voodoo I'd indulge, but considering I prefer a few other donut shops I won't make a special trip. Great service plus a respectable donut equals 3.51 stars.

It also doesn't hurt that they are open from 6am to Midnight - perfect for those sudden doughnut cravings! One thing that can be improved is how they handle big orders. I recently ordered over 5 dozen doughnuts and it came in 6 boxes and a small bag. First problem: they don't deliver. Second and bigger problem is that they don't pack big orders so you can carry them out. How the heck am I going to carry 6 boxes and a bag of donuts??? Maybe they want to keep their business "small". A simple brown bag or even something to tie the boxes together would have been very helpful.

It's pretty small inside, with maybe no more than 10 tables. When I came there was a large party taking up majority of the dining room, leaving about 4 tables left. We didn't have reservations, but I believe they take them. Luckily we were seated right away without any issues. They are known for their Asian cuisine. Think Taiwanese fried chicken sandwiches, Japanese mochi donuts, ube, vietnamese coffee, etc. What I tried: - Mochi donuts (1 strawberry, 1 chocolate) ; so fresh! 10/10 - Strawberry/peach lemonade boba; Extremely sweet, but good! Staff was super kind from start to finish. The only downside (which is big) - it is pretty dirty around the restaurant. With all the white, you can unfortunately spot things quicker. A deep clean would do the trick!

However, it wasn't the cleanest but we were still willing to give it a try. When we arrived, the hostess/waitress asked if we had a reservation and I told her no but there were literally only 2 tables being occupied at the time, so she had us wait until she cleared another table. The menu gave a hibachi vibe, they had teriyaki bowls, unwich sushi rolls, soup, and specialty drinks but no fountain or canned drinks. I wanted the salmon and everyone else was getting chicken but that didn't happen because they were out of salmon. Really wasn't feeling the other options, so we canceled our order and left. I would definitely give the place another try but maybe earlier in the day and a different location.
