Let me tell you, ownership of an old LR is not for the faint of heart. Things seem to happen with this car when I'm far from home. (See last year's deer incident in a non-cell service area in Maine.) This time it was catastrophic engine failure on I-95 in the middle of nowhere Virginia. I had her delivered straight to Carlos and Danny at British Auto Works, who had a new motor in my baby in less time than it took me to figure out how to get my car from VA back to NYC. While she was there they also replaced the ball joints and now she's driving/riding like a dream. I imagine every non-warranty LR owner knows the value of a good mechanic/shop. British Auto Works - 06 Land Rover LR3 - Auto Repair Near Me - Bronx, New York

TLDR; Shop seems to have good people working here, but they appear to be overworked, and do not respond to communications by phone, or attention to detail in service items. Might be fine for mechanical work on a +2000 Land Rover, but couldn't advise someone taking a classic to them. Took my 1991 D90 to them in late July / early August with a detailed list of minor items; clutch adjustment, door locks, inaccurate fuel gauge, fluid replacements, and some issues with the turn signals. Car was with them for a workweek before they were able to service it, but the initial response was good - clutch was adjusted, told parts were ordered to address the other items, and was given some good advice on not upgrading the rear seating (as above; these seem to be good people). Was told to anticipate a return trip in the near future for remaining items, including fluids. Began to follow-up after a few weeks, by phone and email - initially told that the part to address flashers still wasn't in. Followed up several weeks later, by phone and email again - took perhaps 6 emails, and a similar number of phone calls to get someone's attention. Part finally arrived, and service was scheduled for early October (2 months after the initial visit). Service was done same day, but was sorely lacking; replacement locks were inoperable for 2/3; oil was overfilled (other fluids simply not done); replacement flasher unit, which caused 2 month delay, has not corrected the signal issue, and from their invoicing, appears to readily available on Amazon. They also billed for the parts/labor to correct my fuel gauge, despite explaining in person that they had ordered the wrong part, so the work could not be done (unfortunately, they also ordered several other parts erroneously - as above; these seem to be good people, but the attention simply isn't there). Followed up with them on these issues, requesting credits for the work either not performed, or clearly deficient, and never heard back. read more

Fantastic. These guys know everything about Range Rovers, EVERYTHING. Ive taken the car to the range rover dealership in the city for maintenance (you know these cars are a pain in the butt to take car of) And gotten a ridiculous bill for minor issues. A friend of a friend recommended this place and WOW! great service at a quarter of the price. Sure there are no free muffins but who cares when your saving all that money! read more

After working a 12 hr shift, tired and ready to go home, I walked to a parking lot to get in to my car and I noticed a flat tire. Not knowing what to do, who to call or where to go I started panicking. Someone from that parking lot mentioned that there is a local auto shop couple of blocks away and they might be able to help. I am so glad that I was given that tip. The guys from this auto shop not only stayed after hours to help me, but they fixed my tire and I was home safe in no time. I was referred by my brother to take my car to this shop. i had a bad engine and needed to replace the engine I was pretty hesitate to take my car to this shop but I did. The two guys I dealt with was very nice guys which I felt comfortable letting them replace the engine. They had my car for 1 month before looking at the problem. Finally they told me they couldn't salvage the engine and needed a new one. i went on to purchase a used engine where they stated the don't like taking outside engine and they had a local dealer. Long story short they couldn't figure out how to get the car started I referred them to talk to my Mechinic(Troubleshoot guru) which he gave them ideas to troubleshoot to get the engine to start. This took them another 2 months And still had issue with the engine. I finally got fed up and took my car to another authorize dealer where they couldn't believe how badly the engine was installed and could of been the shop that could of shot the engine. I believe this shop can handle small jobs but when it comes to big jobs I wouldn't recommend them. That just my opinion. read more
