Service (4/5): McElroy's wasn't too busy when we arrived, but service was solid. We had a beer, closed out, and we were on our way. Food (N/A): We were on a liquid diet, but I did notice that they have free hot dogs during Astros games. That's a pretty awesome perk. Drinks (4/5): As you would expect, heavy on beer though they have a full bar. When I'm at an Irish pub, I'm going to go with an Irish or British beer. They have a good number of those options too. The location at Kirkwood Rd and Westheimer Rd is over 20 years. It goes to show that when Houston "updates" a business, they spare no expense. The place was getting a bit seedy -- but now the floor plan is opened up and MORE LARGE SCREEN TV's THAN A BUFFALO WINGS store. And even with the rehab the owners have kept prices in "reason". And surprisingly enough, the sausage was my favorite. It was JUICY. When you bite into it, the juices literally burst out. Well, we finally decided to stop in before grabbing dinner next door, and I'm so glad we did! It was about 5 p.m. midweek, so the crowd was light. We sat at the bar and I ordered the Irish Cider that was on tap. It was cold and crisp and refreshing. Not too sweet. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was adorable.
