Brittany Crêpes chefs plying their craft at my party
    Jonathan L.

This is a review of Brittany Crepes Catering. (I was a fan of their Berkeley restaurant, but it is no longer in business.) We hired the Brittany Crêpes for a party that took place yesterday at my house. Every aspect of their service was excellent. Scheduling and menu selection via email with Mathilde was a breeze. The two chefs were super easy to work with - they arrived on time, set up promptly with minimal guidance from us, and were ready to go when our 40 guests arrived. No one had to wait long for an order with four crêpe grills as we had requested, and everyone was talking about how tasty the savory and dessert crêpes were. Even the three pre-teen and teenage boys, who can be picky eaters, enjoyed their crêpes. The chefs wrapped up, cleaned up, and left just as planned. On top of that were little touches - like moving their van half a block away after unloading to open up parking for our guests (their idea, not ours) - that showed how genuinely committed Brittany Crêpes is to making the experience as nice as possible. This quality of catering service is rare, even with much larger companies. So 5 stars for sure!

Smoked salmon, sour cream, green onion, fresh dill buckwheat crepe (delicious!)

My club, Spoon University at Berkeley hosted Brittany Crepes at our recent food festival. After a long day setting up and working the event, I decided to have a crepe for lunch! Smoked Salmon Crepe ($12.50): The crepe was so fresh! They make it on the spot right in front of you! It's made with a buckwheat batter which gives it a more savory taste. The texture is not as smooth as your normal crepe, but goes very well with the savory crepe options (you can choose if you want buckwheat or normal batter). The salmon inside was flavorful and the dill added a nice, earthy undertone! They also drizzled sour cream inside, but a little too much. I'd definitely try their other crepes-definitely a sweet one!

These guys are everywhere. I think there's like, 5 of these trucks? Anyway, they're always at the Treasure Island Flea and the Livermore Farmer's market, and they're pretty yummy. They have a dairy free buckwheat crepe option for Allergy Boy, meat and cheese and fish and stuff if I want a meal, and sweet fruity stuff for Blondie. Bonus!! After chatting up the guys at the Farmer's Market, Small Dragon talked her way into a four-hour "internship" the following Thursday evening! She got to cut stuff up for them, and probably learn other crepe-making trade secrets. And had lots of fun. I deeply appreciated them for giving S.D. the chance to try something fun like this, just days after her arrival in California. Thank you!

Brittany Crepes catered a big event for us and did a wonderful job. All the crepe-makers were friendly, quick, and professional, and the crepes were delicious! I was dead-set on going savoury, until my friend next to me ordered a Nutella crepe....GAME OVER. We both ended up getting one of each. Best choice. I had a ham, egg and cheese crepe along with a banana Nutella crepe (I held off on the strawberries). I got them both on buckwheat, and they were heavenly. I grew up eating crepes, so I have high standards for them. Brittany Crepes passed the test! I'm a bit bummed they're all the way out in Berkeley, but if I ever find myself out there, I'll certainly pop by.

What an awesome experience Laurent and Alberto arrived early for our breakfast event, they were set up and prepared before our start time. Everyone had a wonderful time and most importantly the crepes were delicious

Laurent and his chef working their crepe magic

Brittany Crepes and Galettes catered my event this past weekend, and I am still dreaming about their heavenly crepes. Hiring Laurent and his team was as easy as sending an email, confirming availability, and choosing a menu. Laurent was very prompt and cordial throughout the entire process, answering all my questions quickly. He was extremely professional and punctual, and always gave me the impression that he truly valued my business. And above it all, he's a master crepe chef who can churn out delicate disks of fresh crepes filled with delicious combinations of ingredients - savory and sweet. Each chef was very accomodating and made my guests very happy. Everyone was so excited when they saw the fresh hot crepe station and many people were inquiring to hire Brittany Crepes and Galettes for their own events. I can't thank you enough, Laurent - for your delightful personality, your professionalism, your impressive skills, and just your overall approach to your clients. I was beyond happy having you, and will definitely recommend and hire you time and time again. LOVE!

If the crepes are anything like what I had at Brittany Crepes & Galettes stand, I think I need to pack my bags and find myself a cute chateau in Brittany, France! My friend and I happened upon these crepes at the Treasure Island Flea Market and we couldn't decide between savory or sweet so we did what any smart person would do and ordered BOTH! I got the brie cheese, pesto, and tomato crepe with the organic buckwheat flour and my friend got the nutella, banana, and strawberry crepe! They're big and STUFFED! Ohhh yeahh! Mine was DELICIOUS and the pesto complimented the cheese and tomatoes perfectly! I actually liked the buckwheat flour crepe. It added a bit of a nutty taste! My only complaint is that the cheese wasn't fully melted and it was still kind of chunky, but then again, the new guy(?) made my crepe, so maybe he's still learning...? Mr. Laurent Le Barbier himself was giving the guy tips and advice, so I'm sure the next time I get the same crepe it'll be cheesy, pesto-y, tomato goodness! This stand needs to come to San Francisco! Please and thank you :)

Love the Sunday Farmer's Market in San Rafael. Gorgeous weather, fresh and high quality products, and my favorite guilty pleasure-- crepes!! I've had crepes from Brittany Crepes at several different locations actually-- Civic Center, Larkspur and down in Oakland by the lake. Specifically, a couple Sundays ago at the San Rafael market, Brandon whipped me up a strawberry Nutella crepe. Perfection! He's actually made a crepe for my grandmother once maybe even a year ago at the Larkspur Landing location too, and it was yummy! Grandma tore it up lol I appreciated Brandon's skill, professionalism and friendly personality. Highly, highly recommend Brittany Crepes as both a farmer's market Sunday treat, and for a private party experience to keep your guests happy and full.

I recently had the pleasure of using Brittany crepes for my daughter's birthday. Not only did they provide quality service but Laurent was accomadating and helpful throughout the whole process. He was always quick to respond to any/all of my questions. The set up looked beautiful. Chefs were on time, friendly, professional and held a conversation while preparing the crepes. The crepes were delicious. I had my guest in complete amazement. The crepes left a lasting impression. Everything was perfect! If you want nothing less than the best than I would choose them for all your crepe needs. They provide top notch quality services with excellent customer service.

Our wedding venue has a list of about a dozen approved caterers, and we went with Sage because it fit our budget--they came in at about half the price of other caterers on the list. So imagine our surprise when we arrived at our tasting a couple of months before the wedding and every dish blew us away with the quality of the ingredients and craft of preparation. Meredith and the Sage team are so thoughtful about producing a menu that takes advantage of the best in-season produce and other high-quality ingredients, and even when cooking for over 180 people everything is prepared to perfection. We really feel like we struck gold working with Sage--many of our foodie-est friends were telling us that it was the best wedding food they'd ever had. We also appreciated that Sage was very accommodating for our vegan and gluten free guests, and that their family style options include many dishes that are already vegan/gluten free, ensuring that nobody was short of options for delicious food. Sage also helped us realize our vision for our bar menu, helping provide fresh lime and lemon juice for our signature cocktails and providing skillful bartenders to keep all our guests satisfied. Our day-of catering manager also did a fantastic job making sure we were fed and happy, bringing us appetizers while we were signing our marriage license, checking in with us during dinner to make sure we had everything we needed, and even preparing to-go boxes for us in case we were hungry at the end of the night. We're confident Sage is offering better food and service than many caterers that are twice the price. We're so happy we chose them for our wedding!

We knew we wanted to work with Sage from the start, so I didn't realize until later that most places let you do a tasting before booking. Sage doesn't, and we actually couldn't do our tasting until just a few months before our date. Based on the creativity of their menu and so many great reviews I didn't worry though - and am happy to add another to the list of people saying the same thing! The food was excellent, fresh, and creative, and many people have raved to me about the salmon. The experience working with them was also very good - during cocktail hour they made sure my husband and I got appetizers, even bringing us a plate with a couple of each, which was so appreciated. They also did an excellent job with the bar, even figuring out changes on the fly - my dad wanted one of our signature drinks that was grapefruit based, without the grapefruit. They made a lemon version for him in the moment, and then remembered just what to make him each time he came back! We did need to order all the tableware rentals and alcohol ourselves, however Meredith was an excellent partner through the planning process, and guided us really well on what we needed, and how much of everything to get. We picked out the styles we wanted with the rental company and then she worked with our planner and the rental company to handle the order details and quantities of everything, something I wouldn't have known where to start with. They also provided all the fresh juices and garnishes for the bar. Our venue also had tricky drop off and pick up requirements, and she executed all of that seamlessly. Thank you to Sage for a wonderful wedding dinner!

Think twice (or more) and don't do it!…read more A group of four couples (hailing from Michigan to New Mexico) were flying into Napa for a long-planned get-together. We rented a home through VRBO and thought it would be a treat to have a catered meal from Epicurean Escape. The price was over $1000 but seemed well worth it and we paid the bill 10 days prior to our arrival. Unfortunately, if not unbelievably, we were alerted by VRBO the very next day that our contract was being cancelled as the rental house had just been purchased by a new owner. Thinking we might have to cancel the trip as VRBO might not have an alternative (they did not), we immediately contacted the caterer that we would have to cancel plans. This was 9 days prior to the planned dinner. The caterer then informed us that this was beyond their normal 10 day cancellation policy and there was nothing they could do other than a (hold your breath) 25% refund!! provide a 'credit' - a great idea for a group of 8 with most of us living thousands of miles away, or assisting us in relocating to a new venue. We eventually located a hotel where we could stay and proceeded with the trip - still very much disappointed with the caterer for not refunding our money with 9 days prior notice (along with forwarding them the note of cancellation from VRBO). With a $150 delivery fee charged by the caterer for delivery to our hotel, and no way for us to warm the food in our rooms, we anticipated the meal would arrive on serving trays with sterno heaters. But of course not.. The server who delivered the food was very nice and accommodating (we tipped them as well even though the paid contract already included an 18% gratuity fee). We began eating immediately, only to find all the food (fish and beef main courses) at room temperature. Perhaps everything would have tasted better had it been heated, but classifying the meal as 'mediocre' would be overly kind. Making matters worse (if that's possible), we have been promised a 'final' contract as three of the planned attendees could not attend, and the caterer agreed to 'adjust', only to never hear back from them almost 2 weeks later. Inflexible policy + less than thrilling meals = at least in my book, an experience worth avoiding at all costs. Caveat emptor.
