Terrific little coffee shop in old town shopping area 234 commercial st, Nanaimo First- I'm a coffee lover.. just straight black coffee. this place had the bast coffee I've had in a long time. Second- I couldn't resist the berry bread pudding. It was perfect as well. Lots of flavor and not too sweet Imm so glad I stopped and you will be too

Really enjoyed Brix and Mortar's covered heated patio in October. The wine selection is excellent, the ambiance is gorgeous and the service was wonderful. Their recommendation to try the pork chop was perfect. Delicious, great portions and sides and warm bread. This may be a hidden gem in Yaletown. Thank you for the lovely patio and dog friendly dining experience!

Wonderful ambiance, service and food! Highly recommend! We had the pimento cheese with Fritos, salmon, halibut, filet, vodka rigatoni and deviled egg potato salad. Delicious cocktails as well!

Last month, we celebrated my boyfriend's birthday at Brix and Mortar in Yaletown, and it was such a special night! The service was wonderful, and the food and drinks were absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a great spot for a memorable evening, I highly recommend checking it out! Buttermilk Fried Chicken $18, Wild Sockeye Salmon $36, Canada Prime Flatiron Steak $46, Drunken Banana Cake $12, Vietnamese Coffee Crème Brule $12 I just wish they offered courtyard seating on weekends too. I recommend reserving online no matter what day you choose to visit. Brix & Mortar 1137 Hamilton St, Vancouver, BC V6B 6M5 4-10pm Food 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Service 5/5 Parking 3/5

I want here with my partner earlier this month for his birthday. I specifically chosen this location for its courtyard aesthetic. I did reserve for a location at the courtyard ahead of time and put in a mention about celebrating my partner birthday. When we got there we got seated at the beautiful courtyard and was presented a little birthday card. Which was very sweet. The price of the food was quite affordable compared to the other fancy restaurant around. We got the salmon dish, a chef special rockfish dish, Canadian prime tartar and lastly a chocolate pudding dessert. All of the dishes tasted amazing, the cod itself was a bit under seasoning. The service was amazing, the waiters and host were absolutely so sweet. They even asked if we wanted a picture and offer to take us one. Highly recommend for a date night, anniversary or birthday dinner.

Super cozy and romantic ambiance with a great selection of crafted cocktails! Came here to try some Swiftie cocktails and absolutely loved the unique Vietnamese coffee creme brulee! Great service and music.

After explore a bit, we found Brix and Mortar which was open and did not have a wait. The staff were friendly and professional and got us seated right away. We were seated outside near a heater so the Canadian cold was kept at bay. We started the meal with a bottle of wine which the manager brought over and poured. We decided to order off the pre fix menu and share the food between the two of us. We added the poutine and mushroom risotto. Everything we ate was amazing, but the buttermilk friend chicken was by far the best. The salad was plan but tasty. The dessert course was the weakest of the three. The staff did take a little longer to refill wine glasses, but they did come around eventually. I would return to this location again!

Creme brûlée and a pistachio macaron for dessert.

Awesome evening at Brix & Mortar! The ambiance was charming and cozy. The meal was both delicious and beautifully presented. Our server, Craig, was really nice and added to the great experience!

Absolutely delicious. A fantastic evening. Service great, ambiance great and food delicious. Oh, the cocktails were pretty good too. There were five of us. We all had starter, main and desserts and all of us were happy with our choices. The wedge salad with lamb bacon was delicious as was the butternut squash soup. Steak and lamb were all cooked to perfection. We would highly recommend

    Dreamy courtyard

I love love love loveeee the outside atmosphere of this place! The courtyard is a magical place for date night with the vines on the brick walls and the romantic chandelier lighting. The servers are phenomenal and have recommendations that are beyond your expectations; I can promise you that. The food is so delicious and have so many different items for palates and flavour profiles of all kinds but truly the magic of this place comes from the courtyard vibes. The chicken liver parfait is smooth and creamy whereas the scallop crudo is refreshing with the citrusy notes. I always go for the duck breast when I see it in a menu and they cooked it a perfect medium rare for myself. It's a bit different with Caribbean flavours instead of classic French ones but delicious nonetheless. I also veer towards creme brûlée but once again the flavours are international with Vietnamese tones. It's a truly unique menu with worldly flavours and tastes. Take your next date to the courtyard and make sure to reserve ahead of time and you're in for one unforgettable dining experience.

Brix and Mortar was the perfect place to kick off our Vancouver honeymoon. I was drawn to make a reservation here based on the romantic decor, but I have to say, it was the delicious food that really impressed me! We opted to sit outside as the weather was great. The chandeliers and lighting were so pretty. We ordered the wine flight, but were also treated to complimentary bubbles in celebration of our honeymoon. I had the chicken, which was phenomenal! It was so tasty and had such a delicious sauce. I ate every single bite. My husband got the rack of lamb and it was equally tender and tasty! The flavors they used in their food were so so good. For dessert, we enjoyed a delicious blueberry cheesecake. Everything about this meal was fantastic. Excellent service, delicious food and perfect atmosphere.

A cute spot for happy hour in Yaletown from 4-6pm! I must say it's a little pricier than other happy hour spots but the vibes and aesthetic is quite nice. They also have ample seating and patio space. The washroom is located in a strange spot but that's fine as well. In terms of food, my friend and I tried the fish on chip ($10), tofu kaarage ($10) and the albacore tuna negitiro ($10). Everything was tasty. My favorite was the tofu - it was still crispy while remaining soft in the inside. The aioli was amazing. Cocktails and drinks reasonably priced during happy hour - $7 for cocktails and $6 for wine.

This quaint restaurant is located in a prime spot, the interior is decorated well. I was greeted by a lovely hostess and taken to my seat. I ordered a few glasses of wine, if you come early enough you can catch happy hour. The service was prompt and friendly. The food was just wonderful, I got the roast chicken. I have never had such a juicy and tender chicken breast. It melted in my mouth! Great dinner.

Good wine list! Hubby switched to a negroni that he liked and I had more wine but this time late night happy hour had started which was a nice treat! We ordered the Dolce de leche dessert and the kitchen was lovely and gave us both desserts on the menu as a bday treat. The rice dessert was incredible - it was like sticky toffee pudding but with a rice base. The caramel sauce was killer! It blew the dolce dessert outta the water. The service was also kind and attentive! The music choices were odd for our night, I love vinyl and collect it myself but just wasn't feeling the vibes that evening, it was a lot of house style music and the same beat over and over with no lyrics. Some folks loved it tho and had asked to move closer to the speaker so to each is own. The tables are also really close to your neighbor so you catch quite abit of convo around you and it's a touch distracting especially when it starts to get little loud as the room is small. Ordering style was interesting, after we ordered our small plates we were ready to select our main courses but the staff just took our menu away and we had to ask another server to put in our main entrees. I understand they were busy so they may have assumed we were done ordering but it was a bit of an off putting experience. Overall food was good, the bread was divine. The highlight item for us was the tuna tar tar with chinese donuts, the chili crips totally brought the dish together. Everything else was pretty good, but wasn't amazing as I hoped. The citrus notes in the canton noodles threw me off and the chicken liver mochi balls felt more like a dessert dish than an appetizer for some reason. We recommend making a reservation in advance, especially if you're planning a dinner visit. We like that they have a regular menu plus seasonal dishes, so there's always a reason to come back and try something different. Our biggest food highlights were the Corn & Mascarpone Pasta from the seasonal menu and the chocolate dessert. The pasta was definitely one of those dishes we kept hearing people talk about, so we had to try its seasonal version with lighter, slightly sweet cream. After trying it ourselves, we totally understood the hype. It was creamy and comforting, but somehow didn't feel too heavy. The chocolate dessert was another favourite. We loved the combination of chocolate and hazelnut, such a nice balance, and thankfully, it wasn't overly sweet. The best part was watching them pour the Frangelico liqueur crème anglaise over it. It was such a fun way to finish the meal. And we can't forget the cocktails. These are definitely not your basic drinks. The cocktail menu is creative, with interesting combinations and flavours. We'd recommend taking your time looking through the menu, because several drinks caught our attention. We also really liked the atmosphere. The dining room feels cozy and intimate, so we think June is a great spot for date night, a celebration, or just an adults' night out. Overall, June feels like a place we'd go when we want more than just dinner. They have good food, creative cocktails, a great atmosphere and a night out all in one.
