"Broadway at the Beach" is a mainstay of Myrtle Beach. It is a shopping/entertainment/restaurant village built to completely surround a nice sized lake. Three walking bridges cross the lake at different points so you don't have to walk the entire perimeter to get from one side to the other. There is a nice amusement park for all ages including a great ferris wheel. They have acres of parking surrounding the property so the walk from your car is never too far. The grounds include a vast number of restaurants of every type cuisine you can imagine. Shops, stores, and kiosks are too numerous to count. I have always enjoyed an easy stroll through Broadway at the Beach on a cool evening and popping in and out of interesting shops. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is because we have been there so many times there isn't anything new. However, if you've never been there, it's a must see. read more

Broadway At the Beach is an area that you'll probably regret not visiting. Here you will find many restaurants, lots of shops and a few activities like fair rides and boats. When the weather is nice, you can spend all day perusing the shops and seeing everything from clothing to toys, from sports memorabilia to fun decor, from candy shops to Old Time Photos. When you need a break you can stop for a meal at one of the many restaurants for pop into a bakery, candy shop or coffee shop for a quick snack. There are also spots where you can buy feed to feed the fish and turtles...and my proximity the wild birds. My family and I really enjoyed our time here. Every store that we went into, we were met with a friendly greeting. And I think that most things were reasonably priced, given that it is probably mostly tourists that come here. read more

Yelp 100 Challenge - #41 Broadway at the beach offer something for the entire family. From feeding the fish to eating ice cream, to shopping, to enjoying a delicious meal. Visited during the Fourth of July holiday so it was a little busy. I enjoy the multiple entrances and exits with plenty of parking. There is are a ton of things to do such as get a sweet treat, take a zip line across the water, ride the speed boat, visit the Wonder Works house, or go for a drink at Wet Willie's or Fat Tuesday. I've visited during every season and the summer is the busiest. It tends to be more quiet during the off season starting from after Labor day until Memorial Day. My favorite is to watch the weekly and July 4 fireworks over the summer. Its a fun free activity to walk around, listen to live music at The Hangout, and people watch. It is catered to tourists so there are many stands and shops for trinkets and souveniers, temporary tattoos, icees, ice cream, candy, cookies. There is an aquarium, zip line, carousel, Wonderworks, mini golf course. The entire loop is 1 mile with 2 bridges across the lake for short cuts. Plenty of parking lot spots. read more

Rides, Art, and Chaos (the good kind) Broadway at the Beach delivered exactly what a family vacation demands: rides, laughs, meltdowns (the kids'... mostly), and just enough chaos to make it memorable. We hit the Action Park Pavilion first for the giant ferris wheel and some rides. My husband Lorenzo sat out the Broadway 360 Ferris wheel due to a well-documented feud with heights, so I braved it solo with our three kids--Lolo (9), Suri (4), and Sadie (almost 2). At 7 tickets a pop ($2.25 each), it's not a budget ride, but kids under 2 are free and the ride operator gave us a wink-and-nod discount for Suri, who "looked 2 today." Bless him. Bonus: those extra tickets got repurposed for carousel rides that had the girls laughing, spinning, and eventually sobbing when it was over. (Ah, toddlers.) The Ferris wheel, while a bit shorter than the SkyWheel downtown, had small windows in the gondolas with a nice breeze, and the kids deemed it "scarier and cooler" than the closed-in version. So, I guess that's a win for fresh air and perceived danger. Each kid picked one more ride to do with me: Sadie chose to saddle up on her noble carousel steed, Suri spun herself silly on the Myrtle Turtles mini coaster, and Lolo went full send on the drop tower--confidently announcing I would be the one to scream. (He was right.) But he screamed too, and clung to those bars like his life depended on it, so we'll call that one a bonding moment. After all the adrenaline, we met up with my grounded husband and hit up the airbrush t-shirt shop. I was thrilled to find one--those beachside airbrush stands used to be everywhere, and they're getting rare. It was a little pricey for five shirts, but the artist crushed it--especially on our custom octopus design--and the kids were thrilled. It's been a week and they're still fighting over who has the "coolest" shirt. While we waited for the artwork, we killed time at WonderWorks. It's hands-on, air-conditioned, and kids 3 and under are free. (Remember Suri looked 2 today) I can't stress enough how clutch that combo is when your crew is melting down faster than a Charleston praline. Other than the air brush place, we skipped the shops because my kids are the definition of "bull in a china shop". But Final verdict: Broadway at the Beach is part theme park, part nostalgia trip, and part parenting triathlon--but with enough fun and weirdness to make it absolutely worth it. 10/10 would scream again. read more

We actually ended up at Broadway at the Beach completely by mistake -- and I'm so glad we did. I thought it was a theater company when I first saw the sign while driving to our resort. My fiancée had asked to go to the Boardwalk, but my phone autocorrected and took us to Broadway instead. Best. Mistake. Ever. This place is absolutely massive -- and I don't mean that lightly. It's essentially an open-air, outdoor entertainment complex that feels like a combination of a shopping mall, dining district, and family adventure park all rolled into one. Driving around half of it alone took about 10 minutes. Once we parked and got out, we realized just how big and full of life it is. There are rows upon rows of stores -- everything from Ron Jon Surf Shop and Cariloha to quirky specialty shops like Savannah Bee Company, Pepper Palace, and It'Sugar. You've got clothing, souvenirs, jewelry, popcorn, art, and even spots where kids can build-a-bear, mine for gems, or design keychains. It's like the Myrtle Beach version of Disney Springs or Atlantic Station -- only bigger, brighter, and with a little Southern charm mixed in. And the food? Endless. We saw everything from Hard Rock Café and Dave & Buster's to Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, Paula Deen's Family Kitchen, King Kong Sushi, and The Grumpy Monk. Whether you want ice cream, pizza, or something upscale, it's all here. We grabbed a few snacks and drinks as we explored, but honestly, you could spend an entire day here just eating and never repeat a place. What really makes Broadway at the Beach special is the variety of attractions beyond just shopping and dining. They've got an outdoor obstacle course, jet boat rides, WonderWorks, Ripley's Aquarium, and the Pavilion Park complete with a Ferris wheel. There's something happening everywhere you turn -- music, families laughing, and that distinct vacation energy you only find in a place built for making memories. We ended up spending three hours there, went back to our resort for a break, and then returned that evening for another two hours -- and we still didn't see it all. We went to the boardwalk to get lunch and browse around the shops. I wanted to eat seafood, which they didn't have many options for. The map is not updated with restaurants that are closed or under construction, which was very annoying. The only seafood place they had was on the complete opposite side from where we parked. It took at least 20 min to walk around, only to find out that the restaurant was gone. Some had to walk all the way back around to our plan B. There are quite a few shops to pop into and very mainstream restaurants. Even the Bar Louie was also shut down. Smh. Very disappointing. Be warned that it gets really hot walking around in the summer sun, and they do not have a lot of shaded seating. A lot of the benches are also in the sun. We stayed a couple of hours and I had started to feel faint from the heat. Make sure you carry some water with you. Also don't bother to get a caricature, the artists are ok and will not make you look good. There was one particular Asian artist that her work looked really good on one of the bridges. Unfortunately we didn't find her until after we sat with an artist that we did not like, and we didn't want to pay again to have it redrawn. By that time, my energy was expended. read more

All in one place for tourists to shop, hangout, dine and get entertained with live music/performances. There's mini golf, Starbucks, ice cream stores, gift/clothing stores, aquarium, escape room, mirror maze, zip lining, speed boating, merry go around, fun rides and lots of restaurants. Most of the shops are French quarter like buildings. Restaurants have seating area on the deck by the water. They provide rental for bicycles, scooters, and strollers. The space is clean, safe and has lots of parking. The walkway along the river is so nice. The at nighttime the vibe is incredible, with music, dancing, shopping and people having a good time. I found the restrooms are little under maintained. For such a nice area, the public restrooms totally need to be better quality. read more

Memories abound here ... with my ex husband (our early years of dating) and an ex boyfriend. Now my partner's sister and brother in law have a beautiful home here. We benefit - yay! We visited BATB today and it was overall the same, but with a newly added Key West themed section. Very pretty! I love walking around and we even had a lovely breeze tonight. Broadway at the Beach was a great way to spend an afternoon. We stopped for a meal at Margaritaville Grille, where the burger was big and juicy and the fries were hot and crispy. The atmosphere was upbeat and fun. Afterward, we wandered around and found Sweet Molly's Creamery. Phil got a chocolate mix waffle cone and it hit the spot. Ripley's Aquarium is fantastic. The place is clean, easy to walk through, and the exhibits are well done. The main attraction is the tunnel where you walk beneath the shark tank. It is full of giant rays, sea turtles, and sand tiger sharks that glide right over your head. It is great for families but also interesting enough for adults visiting on their own. Definitely worth the ticket. We ended the day with a walk along the boardwalk and watched folks enjoy the amusement park rides. The view of the water from the boardwalk was beautiful, and the whole area had a relaxed and welcoming feel. read more

We paid for it and then she started receiving numerous emails, texts, and phone messages saying we had to get tickets early. She called them back to inquire what was up with all these harassing messages and they said, "Oh, we just wanted to let you know that you qualify for tickets to a magic show for only $10.00 a piece". She said she wasn't interested, but the emails, texts, and phone messages didn't stop. On Sunday, May 3rd, she answered the phone call and they said, "We need you to come in and pick up your tickets". She informed them that we weren't arriving in Myrtle Beach until Monday, May 4th and we would pick them up when we got there. When we got to the Broadway Visitors Information location to pick up the tickets, they wanted to give us additional offers and "all we had to do" was attend a morning discussion on time shares. WOW! We were here for a, much needed, week vacation. We didn't want to spend a morning listening to time share information that we had no interest in. They continued to tell us all the benefits of taking advantage of this offer. By the time we left we were extremely frustrated! When we got to the car, we keyed the address into our GPS and found out the cruise was 30 mins away. And they wanted you to arrive 30 minutes early, no doubt to try to con us into more "deals". After my wife and I thought about it, we went back in and I told the counter lady what I thought about what just happened. I told her after the sales pitch we had just received, we had no interest of going on the cruise. We felt conned and she gave a lot of silly talk about 3rd party stuff. This place back 10-15 years ago was the place to go when you came to Myrtle Beach.. now I think it is a dirty disaster! We came here and walked around for maybe 15 mins before deciding we needed to just leave. It was so packed and there was trash all over the place, it smelt like literal sewage. There were people smoking all over the place just standing around in everyone's way and there was no way to avoid walking in clouds of cigarette smoke and people bumping into me left and right. Just not a good experience. Broadway use to be so much fun especially with night life but it seemed as though all of that was gone as well. Place needs some upkeep before it becomes very ran down. I definitely don't have any desire to return or bring my child back for safety reasons. read more

Fun place, everything in one spot from an aquarium to fun shops to boat rides to Margaritaville, and so much more. It can get crowded but we were there in Oct which is off season. We have been here before in the summertime and it's just way too crowded. This was much more pleasant. And the weather was much better as well. We had a blast walking around with our pups until we got thrown out, hence only the four stars. Apparently dogs aren't allowed there unless they are service dogs which mine are not. We had no idea and there were no signs posted until the security guard came around and told us to leave, but that was fine. We already had lunch & walked around for a few hours. I did see other people with other dogs and they weren't service dogs. Wonder if they were asked to leave as well. read more

Broadway at The Beach is an interesting piece of the puzzle for Myrtle Beach, SC tourism and while some are calling it a "tourist trap", I will have to disagree and instead refer to this as an outdoor shopping mall with numerous dining and shopping options and several attractions as well. It's located next to a massive lagoon that has a whole lot of catfish in it. As a matter of fact there are stations where you can buy food for the fish and that might make a fun TikTok or YouTube Short video. Just don't drop your phone in when you do it. Oh yeah and there is also a speedboat that you can take a ride in and it looks both fun and precarious for a mobile device but you might be okay if you duct tape your phone to your wrist if you wanted some video. Each of the shops prices their goods as they need to and among my favorites are the toy shops and the ones that sell the retro band t-shirts. I can never get enough KISS Shirts for my wardrobe and while I am not really purchasing many toys at this stage of life, I am not adverse to any cool collectible that reflects some of my favorite things if I see them while exploring. When I was last there in June visiting the family I took a walk around with my father and it was hot as heck so I advise bringing a water bottle along and making sure you have some sunblock on hand for good measure. There are places to sit but since its outside and in the South I would not do that for too long since you will drain yourself. Heat exhaustion is no joke so please be mindful. Places that I've visited in the past but not on this particular visit would be the Ripley's Aquarium which is nice but by no means as good as the one I have near me in Coney Island and the Hard Rock Cafe. I remember only popping into the place to see what KISS artifacts they might have on hand. I know you are sensing a theme with me and yes I wear my appreciation of the "Hottest Band In The World" on my sleeve, and that's even when I am NOT wearing one of their t-shirts. Its good to know that there are publicly accessible restrooms on the property that you can make use of without going into a business but since there is a lot of walking involved you will want to be wearing comfortable sneakers or sandals. I didn't recall an open WiFi signal but there might be one. There are enough things to do to keep you involved but some things are pricy. If you are in town its something to see for sure because there is a little of everything to examine. Have a good time. read more

Zip line across water, too much ice cream, gravity-defying houses! Broadway at the Beach was really fun. Locals are super friendly and easy to talk to. For any Bay Area Yelpers, it's like a different twist to the SC Beach Boardwalk. Ziplining across the mini lake/pond, green sparkling water, great views and a nice way to cool off on a hot day. Plus trauma bonding with your fellow zipliners! The water is full of koi fish or some kind of bass, along with ducks! The Ferris wheel is a cool visual. Plenty of random food options scattered about. Well, what's to say? It's a huge shopping area with lots of restaurants and some entertainment options. Similar to a typical boardwalk like you'd find at the Jersey shore, but a bit more upscale. The shops are a bit redundant after a while...the restaurants are overpriced and underwhelming...the rides are not really my thing. I'm not gonna lie...we enjoy walking around and looking...there is some stuff that is fun...some stores that we like to hit up...but generally a tourist trap. Enjoy it for what it's worth! read more

***Late post from my Oct 2023 East Coast trip*** The day after I arrived at Myrtle Beach, I spent most of my day at Broadway At The Beach (BATB). This place was recommended by the lady at the Budget Rental Car in Myrtle Int'l Airport. So happy she mentioned it to me... thank you! BATB is an outdoors shopping mall with many great hotels, shops, restaurants, entertainment, and more. Just to name a handful of them below. Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Paula Deen Store, Crabby Jack's General Store, Savannah Bee Company, Insomnia Cookies, Margaritaville, Ben & Jerry's, Paula Deen's Family Kitchen, Hard Rock Cafe, Senior Frogs, Joe's Crab Shack, Dave & Buster's, Ripley's Aquarium, Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center, Broadway Grand Prix, Myrtle Waves Water Park The man-made lake or pond that this mall surrounds is pretty neat. The people who work in the shops and restaurants are very friendly and helpful. Hospitality at its best. I was able to see the Sky Wheel Myrtle Beach from this mall... cool neon lights. It's a really fun place to visit for the day or two. If I had another day, I would have returned for more great eats and fun. I will definitely come back here on my next visit to Myrtle Beach.
