The front desk and hygienists were some of the least friendly I've dealt with in 30+ years. The dentist himself was fine and did a good job cleaning my teeth the day before, but overall the experience was frustrating. Then when I called on October 29th around 1:20 PM to have my x-rays sent to my new dentist, the receptionist was incredibly rude -- if I could give negative 5 stars, I would. Worst experience. I made an appt to get work done from previous recommendations from this dentist. The lady who told me what i needed to get done is the lady I made the appt with. I show up at 950a for 10a appt and wait for 45 mins. Finally get sat in a chair only for them to tell me at 1106am that i need to come to the front and reschedule bc the dentist isn't there??! This place is a disaster. I walked in and the receptionist (Tameca) looked up from her phone and rolled her eyes. She proceeded to speak to me as if I was bothering her. She attempted to process my payment and said she kept getting a "fraud alert" message each time she tried it. She told me she couldn't process the payment, therefore I couldn't be seen. I took the card to my bank and they informed me that the receptionist had been entering in the wrong security digits. I took it back and let Tameca know what the issue was and she once again rolled her eyes and then processed it with no problem. No apology, no nothing. She wasted an hour of my time because she didn't know how to do her job. I then waited another 30 min to be seen. When I went back, I noted how gross and filthy the office was. They have missing ceiling tiles and scuffed-up walls. When I asked for a cleaning (the whole reason for me going) they replied "I guess we can see if we can get that done". My insurance rejected a claim for bone grapt, got info from insurance person, she appealed and so did I, a phone call to UnitedHealth Care said is to be covered. A misspelling of Implant was imlant, not sure if an issue, I got a letter from insurance saying claim was approved. I never received any info from insurance lady at Galveston Dental. She wanted to place refund back on card used for service. But CareCredit will not refund me, because I paid bill down. Then she wanted doctor to write me a check. I waited a week and when doctor in, he did not have his checkbook??? Finally receptionist produced a check for me from Galveston Dental. Also this doctor was not one who performed bone graft. Very upset with insurance person and handling of this. read more

I really dislike going to the dentist. I don't do pain well and my teeth and gums are really sensitive. The staff are very nice and sensitive to my anxiety regarding dentist visits, they are all very kind and courteous, very professional and I would recommend them to anyone needing a dentist! Customer service was great. Astounded to price of new dentures. Medicare does not provide any dental coverage unless you have a Medicare Advantage plan which I don't. Don't like some of the provisions in the advantage plans. read more

Had appointment. Horrible tooth pain. Had financing in place. Arrived they said they would do xrays and exam but may or may not be able to extract tooth if necessary as were busy. So I would have had to pay for partial services but would have to wait for another appointment to deal with pain. As I was walking out of office to search for another dentist the person behind desk tells me. Have Fun!! Really with a severe tooth aches. No compassion no help nothing. Would absolutely NOT refer anyone to Affordable Dentistry. I did get same day no wait absolute best service at Todays Dentistry in Galveston. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE. Here's a little background on why I went in for: I had two molar teeth that would occasionally hurt when I ate. It didn't happen often, but I knew it wasn't right. I definitely was not sensitive with temperature either. 1) The girls at the front desk had a terrible attitude. I should have walked out then. The wait time to go into the back wasn't bad. 2) I waited for like an hour for the dentist to come into the little cubicle I was in. He walked by several times and one of the hygienists/assistants asked me a few times if he had came in yet.. but that took a while. 3) I thought it was kind of odd for an intern to do my X-ray without any supervision... but that's okay. 4) The dentist I had, stuck the metal tool into (I mean REALLY into) my tooth to the point he actually had made a small hole! I am now very sensitive to cold, I can't chew on either teeth at all! That started happening a few days after I went. There was no way that my teeth could get that messed up in a matter of two days. 5) They're all about money. This place is definitely not affordable in anyway... They told me I needed two root canals, two more fillings, and two of my wisdom teeth were "impacted". Second opinions always matter! I might need one root canal, and possibly two fillings (one was barely there) and my wisdom teeth aren't impacted. Stay away if you can. Go to a non franchise dental place. They will give you the care and attention you will get. read more

I was in Galveston for a wedding. Experienced a dental emergency on Friday. I walked in to their office and the entire staff was wonderful in their concern for my situation. Background about me: I have been going to the dentist (for some type of work not just checkup or cleanings. Basically, my main visits to the Dentist were surgery related (extractions, fillings, root canals, etc). These experiences were not that great, as the work itself did not hurt but the injections (to numb) the gum, hurt so bad, that I cried every time. I had a very sweet tooth as a child. I hated going to the dentist, no matter what it was for (even for a check-up). I was referred to Affordable Dental by a friend. I live in Houston but I was willing to drive to Galveston (45 minutes) based on a referral. So they had better be good. I got there a bit early (I am usually late for everything lol). They quickly took my information and then I went for consultation. Long story short, I had to extract 2 teeth and do a deep cleaning (refer to my background lol). I still have to extract another wisdom tooth but I thought 2 extractions were enough for one day. So had my deep cleaning, no biggie. The extraction was next, here comes the NEEDLES. Fast forward (after the extraction), I had little or no pain when I received the injection, and coming from me that is a miracle. My gums were sore, of course I just had two extractions but after a day or two, the weird feeling went away. I also, would like to comment the dental assistant, as my deep cleaning was great, I use to have gum bleeding but no more. Also, I'm not sure if my insurance was that great or their prices were really affordable. I have never been to a dentist office paying less than I did. I would HIGHLY recommend this place, and I have already scheduled by cleaning for September and another procedure in December. read more

Absolutely awful. After first appointment had a treatment plan - needed medical clearance for anesthesia. 2nd appointment cancelled by dentist's office because of evacuation. Third appointment scheduled, arrive - pay the almost $800 that is my portion of the scheduled services. After having done all they asked (during the 1st appointment), I assumed they would be ready. WRONG. They did not have the medical clearance back from my doctor. WHY SCHEDULE THE APPOINTMENT? So during my almost 3 hour stay at their office during which NOTHING was done - they had ME call the doctor's office twice. Finally I said give me the form, I'll drive it to my doctors office and come back again. Nope - we'll try calling them again ---- to learn that my physician was not in the office that day to sign it. After this almost 3 hour wait, and not having a love for dentists to begin with - so it takes a lot to even get me in the chair I asked for a refund. Well - seems no one in the office knows how to reverse a charge on a debit card. I attempted to dispute it with my bank - but because I do not have a detailed explanation of the services that WERE supposed to be performed, only the receipt showing the total payment, they can't dispute that it wasn't done. So I requested my records so I could go find another dentist. Arrive at 1:33 p.m. today to pick them up - the office light is blinking open, the hours on the door say 9:00 - 5:00, so I call. Get Tamika on the phone who tells me it's lunch time. The entire staff leaves at the same time. I told her that their customer service is awful and that is the primary reason that I am leaving their practice and finding someone who cares about the patient - that is DEFINITELY NOT this office. Customer service to them means the customer provides the service - not that the customer receives the service. Don't go there if you need any type of bedside manner with dentists - ABSOLUTELY AWFUL EXPERIENCE. read more

It's the end of August 1018. I have been a client of Affordable Dental for 3+ years. Through my tenure, they were an "okay" dental office, very geographically convenient for me and accepted by my insurance - but not exceptional operation. Recently they added a new upbeat, on-the ball, office staff and have new professionals. Hygientist Warren was amazing in her att'n to detail and explaining informative/important things never before expressed. Then Dr Collins came in and was the same -- VERRRY thorough and took the time to explain and recommend. He wasn't selling upgrades but he explained how to get the job done exceptionally without busting the bank. WOW, right now the new team here is fabulous!!! i am so disappointed in the galveston dentistry office (affordable dentist) in the mini mall by big lots. took all my top teeth out to replace with a denture the dentist left pieces of broken teeth in my gums. no follow up appointment. my dentures look like a child made them. i would have been embarrased to give them to me. it is so insulting !! the dentist knew my teeth were crooked, he glued them in and sent me home. they are too big, i cant wear them, humialted during the holidays and still have no upper teeth. the girls in the office dont care. one is miserable, we will call har tamika!! she answers the phone by saying ( how can i make you smile today) she can make us smile by leaving her job!! you will be sorry & disappointed if you go to affordable dentist !!! cost me $1000. what a waste of money. i keep asking for a copy of my bill and she will not give me one. she needs a job shoveling horse manure. read more

Since being seen by Dr. Collins I've been to another dentist for a second opinion and referred to an Endodontist for evaluation. The verdict was to replace the filling I had on that tooth to ensure there was no decay beneath it and prevent the tooth from becoming infected. Both the 2nd dentist and the endodontist said a root canal was not medically necessary at this point and would have obviously been far more expensive than replacing a filling. If you go to Affordable don't be afraid to get another opinion. I feel they tried to frighten me into a costly procedure I didn't need. read more

If I could give it zero stars, I would. I had an extensive amount of work done here back in 2009. The wait time was always ridiculous, and the staff is very cold. I was not happy with the work at the time - rough edges on fillings, overly sensitive teeth where fillings were - and ever since then I've had nothing but problems. I went to another dentist who told me the work done was poor (I knew that already) and this poor quality of work caused there to be MORE decay under the fillings making my teeth hurt more and the fillings fall out. I called to have my information transferred to the new dentist (across the country, mind you) and now I'm told they're going to charge me $25 for that! Stay away from these quacks! read more

Do not go to this dental group. They dumped me after they wanted to pull my teeth or get me to a dentist to do root canals. This was after the first dentist grinded down my teeth and gave me temps. They took my insurance money, about $1000. from me and then when I got a second opinion that said all I needed was crowns to be completed, they would not finish nor adjust my account. Their manager is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Do not trust your dental work to this group. You have been warned. read more

Dr. O is literally the most amazing dentist I've had!! I will not go to anyone else. I had 2 root canals done in the same day and didn't feel one thing during the procedure! He cares about if your comfortable or not during your procedure. He truly cares about his patients, you can tell! Thank you Dr. O for making me not be so scared while I'm at the dentist office getting all this work done on my mouth. The whole staff is very professional and the ladies at the front are super nice! Don't be fooled by the name or location, this place has wonderful staff. The dental hygienist that did my cleaning, Tammy, was great. She was very nice, personable and I not experience an ounce of pain (which I had at my last dentist). The male dentist I had was great as well. He discussed options for my cavity that were most affordable and in my best interest. The whole staff's primary concern is your comfort. I didn't wait long for my appt and did not experience any pain during the work I had done. I will definitely be going back here. read more

Do not.... 1st not affordable, most overpriced around honestly, very unprofessional, cared more about scheduling unnessasary costly procedures rather than the comfort/health of my daughter, sent her away without any type of antibiotic even though she had a very painful infection. Terrible. It only gets one star because the dentist was good. The receptionist was rude and unknowledgeable....I had all my upper teeth pulled and had immediate dentures made. Went back after the recommended 6months to get a hard liner and the receptionist and office manager refused to let me see the dentist until I signed several agreements...they had originally "forgot" to have me sign! The office manager was also rude and condescending.......Do not go here! You will regret it! I was mislead in priceing and number of follow ups available. read more

They don't even deserve one star. The WORST dentist I could ever possibly imagine. I honestly don't know how they are still in business. I had an appointment and waited an hour and a half AFTER my scheduled time to even be seen. The tech couldn't get my xrays to save her life and the dentist COMPLETELY messed up both of my fillings. Later when I tried to go get a copy of my xrays to go to a different dentist they tried charging me $25.00 just to get a copy. I would rather pay $50.00 for a whole new set of xrays at another dentist than give this shit hole another penny. read more

i'll never come back to affordable dental in galveston, the dentist who works there from india, dr reddi, was not gentle at all.....the anaestetic shot was painful right from the start, the ladies at the front office are not professional, she was using her cell phone and texing someone while I was there talking to her. The manager Nancy is not helpful; the lady at the front office said I'm stock to that dentist, that I can not go to another dentist of my choice of the dentist who works there. There's (2) dentist who works there from India, I hope they go back to India and stay in their own country. With the exception of Dr. tran, who's a Vietnamese, who seems real nice, friendly and professional when I was there. SEE FOR YOURSELF! This place is the worst ever. They made an appointment for both my kids weeks in advance on a Saturday for which I was grateful because I am extremely busy. They harassed me at least 3 times before the appointment to verify insurance info and with reminders of the appointments. Our appointment was at 11am. At 9am, they called saying the doctor was pregnant and having contractions so they had to re-schedule. They had no back-up dentist. I told them that no back-up dentist on a Saturday is poor business practice. This was a foreseeable emergency if the doctor was nearing her delivery date or if she has a high risk pregnancy. When I tried to call back the following Monday to reschedule, I was told I could not make an appointment "...because of doctor-patient conflict." I called it constructive criticism. I too am a woman and during my pregnancies, I made sure my clients were taken care of. The clerical staff said she did not know how my conversation went on Saturday, but that their "...Saturday appointments are a courtesy to clients..." ????/ What a joke. Seriously, if you can not take advice from your clients without terminating service, you are unprofessional. read more
