Went over to this place after working our in the gym and while it saved me from a mile walk to where I was intending to go, it's decent but not perfect. Going into the place it's very narrow, basically because it's a side restaurant jointly attached to a food market, still found some seating and something simple to eat. I do have to address one negative of the place but before I do that, I have to give props to the server Jazmin on basically running the place on her own. She had to prep food and serve dishes as well so that would explain the delay of service in the place. Not sure if the restaurant is undermanned because it's my first time here, even with that I did have to take a star off because service as a whole was slow, No fault of the server herself though, she was kinda on her own. I opted for the lunch special which is a crabstick, scallop and Whiting medley with yellow rice and I also ordered 3 empanadas. Had to settle for Shrimp because they didn't have chicken or beef today. Once again my habit of overordering got the better of me and my meal filled me to capacity. Calle 48 Pescaderia, the restaurant attached to Broadway Fish Market, was a fantastic find for me. Not situated in the most desirable area, it offers a variety of Latin-based dishes, including crab-based soups. The Pella de Mariscos, talipa, and porgy are delicious, and on my second visit, I made a more conservative choice with spaghetti panella and shrimp, which was absolutely amazing. Calle 48 actually has an authentic atmosphere, with a long corridor of tables leading to a main entrance attached to the fish shop, close to the corner of Newtown Rd and Broadway. Though hidden behind the fish restaurant and a small side entrance, the dimly lit corridor, tables, and menus along the side actually create a pleasant dining atmosphere, and I must go back to try more menu items. Wow I wish I would've checked the reviews. I ordered lunch at 2pm and didn't get it until 3:25p. I live less than a mile from the place. I work from home so I try not to order during busy hours. I ordered the fried snapper comes with fried plantains. I ordered an additional rice and a drink. The taste was awful! No seasoning on anything. But the breading they used had a weird sweet taste to it! I will not be ordering from here again. read more

Broadway Fish Market a great neighborhood spot for inexpensive seafood inside of a small supermarket. We frequently order from here when I don't feel like cooking and my family of 5 is always satisfied. It's a bit run down to sit in and eat but it's perfect as a to go spot. Service: The girls who work the front counter are always nice. They aren't intimidated by large orders, have a lot of knowledge on the menu and always call me once my food is ready (we usually pick up). Today 7/10/23, we noticed a man come in asking for work. He seemed down on his luck and offered to sweep, mop, do anything they needed. They unfortunately aren't hiring but gave him free food. I'm my 31 years, I've never seen anyone give away free seafood. This was a sweet exchange to see as a customer. Food: 8/10 The food is really good, especially for the price. We usually get fried jumbo shrimp and fries, fried whiting, grilled salmon, grilled shrimp and veggie fried rice. And all of this food usually comes to around $65-$70! As a patron over the last decade or so, I have to say Broadway Fish Market has been a mixed bag. On one hand, they're an ideal establishment during the pandemic: offers variety of inexpensive seafood and open late with fairly fast delivery. Then on the other hand, they've also been misfiring on service cues with questionable food quality. I think 3 stars is fairly generous given the circumstances, perhaps in the good faith that they'll turn it around. From the looks of it, the place looks beat up. Exterior almost looks like a takeout spot but the interior is where things get interesting. Their illuminated menu goes in and out so that some items are barely legible and their tables could probably use a good scrub down. I am not sure what their COVID practices are at the moment (#1) but let's hope it's more than just some sanitizer on the counter. In addition to being a "market" they also operate as a full fledged "restaurant." Much of the seafood items are usually steamed, fried, or baked with a number of other items that are in soup or served with rice. Much of the sauteed stuff lacks seasoning but I tend to go with their fried / baked options the most. Fish and chips, shrimp stuffed empanadas, as well as the lobster / shrimp patties tend to yield the best results so far. Everything else has been a big crab-shoot. (#2) Service could definitely be better, from phone manners to their execution on just about everything. Speaking Spanish has been helpful in resolving some issues (receipt rando-charges, wrong orders, etc.) but it's not a reasonable for them to assume the rest of their audience would. So I grew up in the projects across the street. I used to come here often since this place opened up almost a decade ago. Something about them selling raw fish right next to their "restaurant" section and so close to the dining tables made me a little uncomfortable. But it was a good place to get some cheap fish and chips. I never really trusted any other items on their menu, so I can't speak to that. Mainly the fish and chips were my choice here. Fast forward maybe 6 years to present day June 2017, I visited them again and this place looks rundown. The whole restaurant is a mess and signs are so old, I really cant tell what the prices are. I asked the cashier for prices and I could not here her at all, all she did was mumble. The cashier is frying my food btw.. ok. I have to say that the fish and chips and shrimp and chips were still good! But if everything is soo old and rundown, I'm really not sure how clean or often they change their oil. They must have switched ownership. It's going down hill fast! I used to order from them for delivery twice a week because they got decent food, super fast delivery and good portions. All of a sudden, their delivery time went from 30-40 mins to hour and a half. Their food is inconsistent at best and they can't figure out which food container to send the food in. When you call them to ask where the food is, it's always "sorry we busy" or "sorry we forgot" they obviously don't care about their to go business. I usually order fried Tilapia with steamed vegetables, and surprisingly the vegetables are tasty too! This one star review is based solely upon this company's subpar customer service and their inability to follow simple delivery instructions. I placed an order for a delivery on Friday April 24 at 12:30 PM. Unfortunately, the order was delivered on Thursday instead. Upon contacting the merchant, The first time, I was told the delivery was on its way. At 15 minutes past the scheduled delivery time I contact the merchant again and was told the delivery should be there shortly. 30 minutes past the scheduled delivery time I contacted the merchant a third time and was told she did not know where the delivery was. I then proceeded to contact delivery.com and they told me the merchant had in fact delivered the food on the wrong day and was neither willing to redeliver the food on the correct day nor grant me a refund. Thank God the nice folks at delivery.com refunded my entire order and gave me a $10 credit for a future use Needless to say I will not be ordering from Broadway fish market again however I will continue to use delivery.com as their customer service is impeccable. read more

My partner took me here recently because he used to go here years ago when he still lived with his parents; I've lived in Queens my whole life, and I had never come here! We ate the shrimp empanadas (they call them pastelitos) and the crab ones. They were absolutely delicious. The shrimp ones had large pieces of shrimp in every bite, and the crab ones were great too, but the shrimp ones were better. At 3 for $5, you can't beat that. We split the seafood soup and he got his standard seafood stew with side of green plantains. I loved everything! I was trying to remain healthy but honestly those green plantains were the way to go and next time, screw the calories. My dish had So much octopus and yummy spicy tomato based sauce. I go here all the time. It is sort of hidden and I sometimes need a careful look when driving to it. But I drive to it for a reason. The fish is great. Inexpensive and deliciously cooked. Although this place definitely is not somewhere to sit down and eat at, it's a cheap, decent go-to place for fish. We usually get the broiled salmon, which comes with either rice, platanos or steamed veggies, and the one and ONLY time the fish looked *off*, they immediately replaced the whole order and was very apologetic about it. I can't vouch for their raw seafood since I've never ordered it from here, but definitely use better judgement and cough up the extra $ when thinking of eating anything raw. I'm very frustrated right now, so I'll apologize in advance for my complaining/review. This is the third time we've ordered fish from here (delivery). Our first experience was actually way better than expected. My husband and I ordered fried flounder, grilled salmon with vegetables and some fried shrimp. Everything was really delicious. Second time we ordered (maybe a month later), we had the same order but my salmon was pretty overdone. Luckily salmon is so fatty that it wasn't necessarily inedible, just not as good as it had been before. Tonight we ordered the same, but specified on Seamless that we didn't want the salmon over-cooked. Somehow I ended up with steamed (not grilled) salmon (and steamed, flavorless vegetables on the side, though they're usually served together, dressed with a delicious garlic sauce) and my salmon is completely raw on the inside. It was also completely cold, as if it had been sitting in the bag waiting to be delivered for 20 minutes. That makes sense, since it took an HOUR to get here. How does raw salmon and fried flounder take an hour? I'm not too sure, but I am very sure I wasted my money tonight! read more

There was a take out menu placed near our door. Being new to the neighborhood, I thought I'd try it out. Ordered the grilled porgy lunch special with plantains and the tres leches cake. It only took about 30 minutes from order to delivery. Quantity: Whole fish with head & tail, side order container full of plantains and another with cake. Quality: fish tasted great, but wish more bones would have been taken out. Also found myself picking some scales out of my mouth. Plantains were not as crispy and caramelized as I like but I guess this is how they are when deep fried fast. Cake was pretty good, still cold. We got delivery from here the other day and didn't know what to expect. Looked cheap, so I thought, either the portions are going to be really small because they expect you to order a lot, or its going to be huge and be fast food quality. It was the latter, which was fine, because it met expectations. We got a fish sandwich, a fried mixed seafood platter and a crab mofongo. I have only two real complaints about the food. The shrimp in the seafood platter must have gotten lost in the bottom of the fryer. As shrimp are not usually the main attraction for me, I just went with "aww, too bad" and enjoyed everything else. My other complaint is that the crab mofongo, which was not too bad overall, had a bit too much shell in it. Chew carefully! The portion on the crab mofongo was pretty huge and it came boiling hot to the door. They deep fry crab sticks, and that's just awesome. It probably saves them a star. Don't order from here if you're looking to get top notch sit down restaurant style seafood. But if you're in the mood for some quick, cheap deep fried fish, this place is fine. read more

i love this place's food. I only ever get two things, so I can't comment on the rest - the shrimp empanadas, and the grilled fillet of salmon. Tastiest empanadas I've ever eaten. And the salmon is extremely good value - they give you a big piece of fish, and it has a really tasty marinade/sauce - some sort of lemon/garlic flavor. You can have it with a variety of sides, I like the yellow rice or the vegetables. One star off for the wait at times - can be slow.
