So very good!!! Okay, we live near Coral Gables, so driving to Broward for Italian food seemed ridiculous. Totally worth the trip (plus, we met old friends and had a fun evening!) had a great dinner, the veal parm is better than my previous fav place, dressing on Cesar is a little garlicky (not overly), and great, and linguine de mare was awesome too. Excellent Italian food! I come here with my family all the time, and we are never disappointed. Everything we have tried on the menu is delicious. I personally get the linguini frutti di mara and have a hard time convincing myself to try anything different. The canolis are great, and I don't usually like them at all. This neighborhood restaurant is a gem. My sister lives in Weston and I live in Highland Lakes so this is right in the middle. Portions are huge!!!!! The bread is hot and soft and you dip it in some delicious blend of herbs and olive oil. It wasn't easy to tell them we didn't want another basket when offered. READ THIS BEFORE WASTING YOUR TIME. My wife received a gift certificate to this restaurant from a colleague awhile ago and therefore we decided to try it. Her colleague informed her that it was a small place and strongly recommended we make a reservation. What he didn't say is that this place is smaller than the Subway a few doors down! This is where it gets interesting... my wife calls around 7:30pm and someone with an obvious Spanish accent answers and after much grief and hesitation says that they are extremely busy and that the only available time was at 9:30pm which at that point my wife got annoyed by the lack of willingness to help and told the employee to never mind. For kicks I said I'd call to hear the drama (entertainment for me) but another women named Iris answered (dreaded hostess) mentioned several times in other reviews. I asked about a reservation and she too said they were very busy but.... some one canceled and we were in luck and could be seated at 8pm. I knew it was BS but we wanted to get rid of the damn gift certificate. We live down the road 5 minutes away and when we arrived there were 6 of the 9 tables vacant. I knew they were full of BS but confirmed it once we arrived. The menu is totally confusing and overpriced for the quality you get. The service was poor, the ambience was dated, yet the food portions were good and the food was pretty good but nothing to rave about. We won't ever go back. Why can't some restaurant owners get it? So, the hostess usually acts like she is really annoyed you want a table.... just ignore that. She is actually very nice, but it is a very small place that fills up quick. They apparently prefer you make reservations 48hrs in advance. We typically do not make reservations, we just swing by to see if anything is available since we live close by. The food is definitely our fave in fort lauderdale area. Very authentic, homemade, decadent italian food! The homemade ricotta, meatballs, all the main courses, the lemon dessert... amazing. Also affordable: they have a couples meal plan with 2 apps, 2 main dishes, 1 dessert, and a bottle of wine for 59$ i think. We use this date night deal every time! Also, we are usually the youngest in the restaurant (40), but don't let that scare you away either., there are often large parties of Italian speaking Italians eating there, which is always the best sign. I have never been so embarrassed as I was tonight. We made a 8:30 reservation last Monday for a party of 6 for a birthday dinner for my husband tonight. 3 Couples, all of the men celebrating Birthdays in the next 3 days...the restaurant was full when we arrived, but two tables were empty, just in need of bussing. We were finally sat at 9:20 with no apologies and a surely hostess, although this was no surprise, she is always surely and rude, we had even prepped our guest to expect her to be rude, an she met the expectation. What we did not expect was no service for another 20 minutes. No drink order, no appetizers, no hello...we were informed the restaurant had a wedding earlier in the day and a waiter call out sick. The service was poor due to this but it was more. It was obvious the staff do not work with the hostess, and tonight the staff was not working with each other. YUM. This place is awesome. We were in town visiting family and were recommended to try this place. We were very happy with our experience. The restaurant is cozy and cute. The people that work there, from the hostess to the servers to the busser, are so sweet and accommodating. The owner is literally in the kitchen cooking every night. Delicious food- we had cannelloni soup (awesome), fettuccine Alfredo (love), frutti di mare (loaded), and chicken Marsala (perfect). This is a comment to the review down below on May 26th by Rick G. I was Rick's waitress, and have been working at Broccolini's Cafe for more than a year now. It upsets me to see reviews that were not only completely inaccurate, but discouraging to the restaurant. When Rick's table sat down in the restaurant, I immediately greeted them and we discussed a few items on the menu and specials list. Yes, I did recommend the veal chop because not only did I have several people that absolutely enjoyed the special earlier that night, but endless people come for lunch and dinner just to have the veal chop. While this was the end of the night when Rick's table was eating, there was also one more table in the restaurant which he did not mention. The hostess was on the phone and me and my co-worker were doing side work in the back since the restaurant was not busy. When the chocking happened, there was no call for help. As soon as the hostess was off the phone and checked on the dining room, the fiancé had yelled to her that she needed help. However, it wasn't mentioned in his review that the lady at the table next to him was the one to do the Heimlich and save him, not him self. As soon as I heard he was choking I immediately ran (no, I'm not exaggerating) into the dining room when I found the lady already doing the Heimlich on him. I still came over to make sure he was okay when the food was already out. Once this was over, the fact that he was okay was a relief to everyone and myself. To make matters worse, his action of choking was repeatedly blamed on the restaurant now, even though we weren't the ones who ate his food. The veal chop that was served to him over a bed of spinach was clearly explained before his food was eaten. I was told by my hostess then that he had said no one in the restaurant was trained. I have gone through a whole CPR class, took an EMR class and graduated with a CTACE from the program, and had my Healthcare provider (CPR and AED) program card at the time in my wallet. The hostess went over after to now make sure if everything was okay, and did ask if he wanted it boxed. Since he choked on the food and there was clearly nothing wrong with it but a bigger bite, why would she come take away the plate without asking? Is that proper etiquette for a restaurant? If he simply didn't want it boxed, then we wouldn't of. None of this was the restaurants fault. The hostess DID ask is he wanted the veal chop taken off of the bill. His response was "No that is not necessary, I just want the check please." When I was told this, even though I was blamed for not being trained, I still talked to my manager about the meal and we decided to give him half the price. He did not pay full price for the meal as he says he did. It is a disgrace that I had to write this after finding this. I hope that anyone reading this will take account for the situation that really happened. read more

The menu is way to confusing with their prices. Keep it simple. The food was outstanding. The service was horrific. Their stringent rules about sharing made me feel uncomfortable. I thought the days of charging for sharing were over, but not here. Its ridiculous because you can get the order to go and not be charged for sharing. They offer a coupon for Wednesdays but then tell you it cannot be used with certain items on their menu. When I got the bill I was charged 25.00 over and she had to correct it. Look closely at your checks! I gave three stars because the food is outstanding. Unfortunately for this place there are tons of great places in Florida for food. We arrived and they were very busy. Place is small but cozy. When you walk in the place smells amazing. We were sat right away and waited quite sometime for our server but she was very nice. This gem was a pleasant surprise. We are not from the area and stopped here for lunch for a quick bite before driving up north. Well, it was truly fantastic. Amazing northern Italian food. We are Italian and have travelled all over Italy and this place is the real deal. I ordered a cup of soup and a side order of broccoli rabe and my husband ordered lunch seafood pasta. It was a feast! When I received the cup of soup I actually had to clarify several times if it was a cup because it was what most restaurants would serve as a bowl. I can't imagine how big the bowl was. The food was fresh, perfectly flavored, and the seafood was tender. The whole meal was sublime for what was expected to be a quick stop. The bill was only $22 - My husband stated that we have spent over $100 on meals far worse. Only a few notes: the service was adequate, but indeed slow in bringing us the bill. The decor is quaint, albeit dated and cluttered. Finally, the side of broccoli rabe had sausage in it. This was completely unexpected and while it was wonderful, I ordered it because I am currently on a vegan diet. The recipe need not be changed, but the menu should better describe the dish. It wouldn't have occurred to me to ask the server if there was meat in a side of broccoli. read more
