My long overdue visit to Sosta cafe was a pleasant one and my only regret was not getting a desert! Service was friendly, food was very good and they had a nice selection of Italian wine. My mother-in-law planned a lunch After my father-in-law's memorial. We were 35 people. They managed to not have enough seats at our table. So four of us had to sit at a separate table. They brought three, what they call focaccia, but are actually Pizza. Do you think three small pizzas can feed 35 people? Then they brought four salads, which are individual sizes, maybe enough for two people. We didn't get any, there wasn't enough. The calamari was definitely from a frozen bag. If I'm wrong, then they need a new chef. It was cheap and fishy. And we had to order an extra one of those too because they brought two for a table of 35. It took a long time to receive sodas or coffees. Three of us had wine, it came immediately. Thank God. Lunch was a choice of three dishes, and it took about an hour from ordering them to receiving them. The rigatoni with meatballs: I'm almost speechless over the horrifically disgusting, rubbery, loaded with filler, mealy consistency of the meatballs. They were embarrassing. The gnocchi were mushy, over boiled. I think they should sauté them instead of boiling them. Just my opinion. I think the chicken Parm was decent, didn't see people complaining about it. But I didn't have it. Dessert and coffee, then took another interminably long period of time. And the reason I mention this is because there was a party coming in after us. And they couldn't get in, they all had to wait outside in the heat, and all because the service was beyond, ridiculously slow. So I felt badly for them. I do have to say, however, on a good note that the servers were very pleasant, all of them. Which was much appreciated in the midst of the general debacle that this memorial lunch was. In retrospect, It is possible that not enough food was ordered by the host, however, the restaurant in knowing that they were serving 35 people should have informed my mother-in-law that what she ordered wasn't enough food. read more

It was ok! My friends and I decided to have lunch here. I was really excited but I think I expected more. The osso buco, meatballs and bread were good. I didn't like my beef ravioli. Our server was very polite. The place is nicely decorated. We didn't try desserts but we did see delicious cakes and pies displayed. read more

This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants! Im glad I made reservations for Valentine's Day because it was completely packed! As soon as you walk in there's a window full of homemade desserts. The inside may see like it is small, but it can fit quite a few people. We started with the calamari and we enjoyed it. Our entree took long so the sever gave us a free caprese salad which we greatly appreciated. My favorite meal is the Fettucine Salmone Burrata and I always get this but I decided to try something new. I ordered the seafood ciambotta and sadly it was not my favorite. We also ordered a dessert and a small coffee. Service was very slow this time, but I think it was mainly because of Valentine's Day. Despite the slow service and the meal I got, I still regard this restaurant as one of the best in Pembroke Pines and I will continue being a repeat customer. read more

This was a great dinner place for groups. I went with a book club so we were a table with 10 ladies and there was ample room to set us up and we were not disturbing anyone with our conversations, and were perfectly placed in one of 3 rooms that Sosta has for their patrons. Upon leaving, I noticed another larger group of people having some function in the 2d area of the cafe, while several smaller tables were also being taken care of and were u disturbed by all these larger gatherings around them: so it has great space. The food was very good, the service was dedicated and impeccable: we had a fantastic time there... and I was sad that I was so full that I could not order one of the delicious desserts I had noticed when I arrived: wow! They seem to have delicious cakes that are also made in store! So overall it was great Italian food. I ordered a meat lasagna bolognese- it was the northern style (my favorite) without ricotta cheese but with bechamel sauce instead. Yummm! I also took a picture of a vegetable lasagna that was very tempting, and this exuberant dish ordered by a friend that was an Italian nachos (?) that quite frankly looked delicious!! The only thing this restaurant has going for itself is that it has low lighting that makes it comfortable but the food and service is completely lacking. We walked in on a Sat at 8pm and we didn't get acknowledged until 5 minutes later. I can forget this is the food is at par but it's not. I ordered the CHICKEN LASAGNA and CORVINA FISH and both dishes were horrendous! The chicken was dry and tough to chew and the lasagna was filled with a bunch of ricotta and was flavorless! The Corvina fish was supposed to have a lemony sauce over it but it actually tasted like nothing. I really don't know how you can mess this dish up. I normally order dessert but after these two dishes, I decided to skip it. Oh well, this is the first and last time visiting Sosta Cafe. The Pembroke Pines (S.Broward) area is really in need of better restaurants. read more

Have not been here in a little over a year and the service has improved a bit with quicker service and the food quality is still absolutely amazing! Fresh, delicious, and you can truly taste the authentic Italian flavors. Their desserts, pastas, meatballs, bread, and bruschetta are all made daily! I can imagine everything else to haha. This Italian treasure on Pines boulevard is spectacular. Visited this place for dinner on a Saturday night. We had made reservations but we arrived prior to the time . The staff was very welcoming and accommodated us immediately. While we waited five minutes for our table, Our attention was all caught on the desserts displayed on the counter. They were impressed with the variety and the presentation of these desserts which made it very difficult to chose from during our dinner. Anyway, table service was top notch and to detail. So we walk in, the lady behind the counter greets us and then walks away. Like what? Another server checked on our reservation and sort of pointed to where we could sit. Luckily for us, we got served by a third person who was friendly and knew about the dishes. The bread was outstanding as was the olive oil. We ordered bruschetta and that was really good. It was missing a little salt but honestly, I'd rather it be needing salt than salty. The vinaigrette reduction complimented the tomatoes on the bruschetta. The fiocchi di pera was tasty. Fresh made pasta with pear inside and in a white Gorgonzola sauce. I added a little salt but again, I'd rather add salt than have a salty dish. They had a big selection of cakes to choose from: Nutella, cheesecake with berries; limoncello tiramisu, etc. The cheesecake by itself was a little dry but when u mixed it with the berries, it was quite tasty. While my last visit here was okay, unfortunately this time was just bad. Starting from the beginning, I called ahead to make a reservation for a party of 10 a couple weeks in advance. I requested a specific table as well and they said it would be fine. I asked about preordering/reservering a cake for the party as well and they said it was fine and a whole cake would be $80 and to have them cut the cake it would be $120 total... Closer to the date, I went in person to confirm the reservation. They had written the wrong day and time under my name so thank goodness I did go, because otherwise my reservation wouldn't have even existed day of. I double checked about the cake while I was there too, asking if I needed to give a deposit. They said no deposit, but that it was $85 for the cake despite telling me $80 on the phone. (I ended up not getting the cake). I asked again about having a specific table and they said it was no problem. On the actual day, they didn't even check my reservation and also did not give me the table I had requested. There was no menus or anything set up ready for my reservation. The service during our time was not good. Drinks were not refilled and they brought out all but a few of my party's main courses and we had to wait 10 more minutes for the rest of our entrees with no explanation. Maybe this is not a problem for others but we prefer to wait for everyone to get their food so we can eat all together. We requested a refill of the free bread they provide when they were first serving our entrees and they brought it out at the same time that we were asking for to-go boxes... All that aside, the food was just okay. During previous time here I got the four cheese ravioli and it was fine. This time, I got the chicken parm and the closest comparison I can provide is that it tastes exactly like the Lean Cuisine frozen chicken parm. The chicken was just dry and chewy. Overall, I'm very disappointed with this visit as I had thought I was returning for a good meal. Perhaps this is not the best place to bring a bigger party for a reservation and is better suited for a casual, walk-in meal. read more

First time at Sosta on a Monday night! The restaurant was decorated nicely and we were seated immediately with a reservation. The service was lackluster, I didn't feel we were checked on frequently despite the restaurant being pretty empty. I ordered the Carbonara which had great flavor, but unfortunately not hot enough. It came to the table lukewarm. I tried the Fiocchi di Pera which had an amazing texture, but the pear flavor was not super strong. The chicken parm was delicious. I came here after hearing so much about their desserts, and I wasn't disappointed! Right when you walk in, you see the selection of cakes at the counter. Don't be fooled by the menu-there are probably double that amount of options in the actual case. The staff were patient in answering what everything was because they weren't labeled. After going back and forth for a while, I went with the classic chicken parmigiana. It was good, fresh, and, and a perfect portion size. I also love the feel of the restaurant. There are different rooms, exposed brick, and nice decor that all make you feel like you're in someone's home. One of the tables even looks like it could be a kitchen counter. The desserts were huge and very good. I ended up taking my cake home and eating it over the course of a few days. read more

We celebrated Mother's Day at this restaurant. The service was extremely slow. We arrived at 1:20 pm and the appetizer was served at 2:35 pm. I asked for a bottle of Albariño and they brought stemless red wine glasses instead of white wine cups. I have to ask to swith and bringing me white wine glasses. My wife ordered a Seafood Risotto and they brought a Seafood Rice, nothing like a risotto. My Gnocchi with Aurora Sauce and Shrimps was very good. The crust for the Nutella pizza was too hard. Someone ordered an Osso Bucco and they brought a beef shank, nothing like the traditional Osso Bucco. I requested a cafe ristretto and the waiter didn't know what I was taliking about it but the espresso coffee was excellent. I would not recommend thsi place. read more

Originally went in thinking this was a cafe, but was surprised, in a good way that it was a sit down restaurant. The decor was very cute and homey. Ample seating everywhere very spacious and very authentic. Our waiter was very kind and patient, we were actually served by the owners brother who gave us a mini tour of the restaurant and let us know that you can have a huge party without having to rent out the place. The food was amazing. The pizza was so good, the cheese was melting off, the pasta amazing as well. The tiramisu was a bit dry missing some coffee, but maybe that is what authentic tiramisu tastes like? Either way I will be coming back to try other dishes. read more

When my wife and I first moved to South Florida, one of the first places we ate was Sosta and it was phenomenal. We brought family and friends there because it was the best Italian we found down here. Fast forward, the last time we went to Sosta, it was either a bad day or the restaurant fell off. The chicken Parmesan was soggy, my food was average at best (I can't even remember exactly what I got because it was so forgettable) and it felt like the restaurant phoned it in. I was pleasantly surprised by this little, rustic Italian cafe. I loved the staff, first of all. They were very accommodating, sweet, and cared about their cuisine/wines. We were seated at a roomy, private table, surrounded by rustic decor, low-volume Italian music playing in the background. We immediately felt comfortable and at home. The conversation was lively, as a result. For me, I tried the most boring dish on any Italian menu - the chicken marsala. It was not only good, it was overall great. My chicken was moist, and the side dish was a wonderful pappardelle pasta, which I have never had before, (it is like a slimmer, delicate version of Fettuccine.) Delicious mushroom wine sauce, generous parsley. That side dish alone was worth it. The wine pared with it, was perfect. I tried a bite of some other dishes the group had - I'm not a fan of Lasagna, but it was really good, better than most. Anyone who likes Lasagna would love their version. Likewise for the meatballs, I had a taste of that, and surprised at the pop of herbs. I tried the white fish, didn't care for it, wouldn't recommend it. They have salmon on the menu, looks interesting I would go with that or another seafood/shellfish. Someone at the table had risotto and I heard them raving about it. The appetizers were good, and so was the desert. For desert we got a couple things, including the pastiera of course - the Italian cheescake, and it was authentic. It can be an acquired taste for some, so if that's not your thing then try the Amaretto cake or something else, the Amaretto cake was really good. No one had pizza, but I'd be interested to try. Also, I notice they have burrata cheese on one of their pizzas, and in a couple of their dishes, how interesting is that, burrata instead of regular mozzarella? Worth trying. I'm sorry I didn't have the expresso, because it a place like this, it's probably good. I would definitely go back. And I can see it also, as a place you could stop by just for appetizers, desert and coffee. They have a lot of small tables everywhere, perfect for 2 or 3 people. read more

let me tell you I've lived in this area basically my whole life, and I've always passed by this restaurant but never had a chance to check it out until today....IT WAS AMAZING!! I'm a huge fan of Italian food so the taste and options that they had were phenomenal! I was feeling pasta today so I got the ravioli spinach with ricottacheese and wowwww! My parents also got pasta and they enjoyed their plates as well, but I had no chance to take a photo of it (sorry lol) my aunts got dessert and ordered a pistachio cheesecake and a passionfruit cheesecake (I think) and they were well presented and looked absolutely delicious and were too!! our server was so amazing and helped a lot with our questions and the ambience was super cute as well! Did a girls night dinner here and we really loved it. We came on a week night with no reservation and were seated right away. We shared the Polpette Rigatoni and the Focaccia Romana pizza and it was delicious! The pasta was cooked to perfection and the dish had a good amount of meat. We also really liked the sauce and the pizza. Our dessert was dulce de leche cake and it's one of the best ones we've had. I would say it is worth coming to this restaurant just for dessert. We specifically liked that the dessert selection is shown on a display so you can see everything that's available before you decide. The place overall has a nice ambiance and it's tastefully decorated. They also have a bar which is cool to hang out or watch a game. Their alcohol selection is beer and wine and gratuity is automatically included on the bill (party of 3). The service was on the slow side but we didn't mind it since we were relaxing and just enjoying a night out. Just something to consider if you're on a clock. We can't wait to be back! read more
