He took the time to explain to me not just what his recommendations were, but the WHY behind them; I didn't feel rushed as I asked follow up questions, which I really appreciated. His staff was very friendly, patient, quick to respond to messages, made my child feel at ease, welcome, and part of the process. Even though it's a 40min drive each way for our appointments, and my insurance doesn't cover orthodontics, this was clearly the right choice based on the treatment plan, as it actually made sense, and my child's treatment requiring more than just braces throughout the process. So... I am just finishing up one kiddo's ortho treatment, and am in the middle of the other ones, and I have nothing but great things to say about this office! I was referred here by my hygienist friend who mentioned that she sees the results of Brodsky's patients when she cleans their teeth... and says that (both Dr. Brodskys) work is fantastic. Not to take away from that (but a lot of the invisalign seems pretty computerized now) but I want to point out how great the rest of the staff is! This office seems personal and ALWAYS FRIENDLY and helpful. Gaby often answers the phone and has gone out of their way to answer my questions and help me get any paperwork needed for my insurance, etc. The from office staff is the same so we get to see the same faces (which also speaks well of not much turnover)... I have had to make last minute changes in appointments and the office is more than accommodating, The office is clean and the equipment seems very up to date. We seldom have more than a few minutes wait time, and all the techs are fantastic. The communication about what happens at each visit, and where we are in terms of the process has been clear, which is appreciated. You'll end up with straight teeth here, but you will also feel like a paycheck rather than a person. The staff is perfectly nice, but they make polite conversation and do not really listen. You get very little time with a doctor after the first consultation. They shuffle you through the process and if it's not on their screen, it just does not matter. For example, I did not want my front teeth filed down. There was no medical reason to do it. They did not tell me they were going to do it. But when I had my Invisalign attachments removed (and thought that was all that was supposed to happen) they filed down my front teeth. I liked my teeth the way they were, now I can't bite through lettuce, and I can never go back. They didn't even ask. They then ordered the wrong retainer for me--which they offered to fix right away (to be fair) and I'll get the correct retainer soon (fingers crossed)--but I've had to talk to three different people to confirm that the retainer I have wanted from the beginning is in fact what I wanted. The priority seems to be their saving money rather than me ending with what I want. Overall, they maybe have good intentions and you will get straight teeth, but the actual care is not there. read more

I first went to Brodsky Orthodontist back in 2008 and was very impressed with the uniqueness of the dental building. It had hip upbeat music, comfortable vibe and friendly staff. I had my braces at another facility, however as I got older and wasn't wearing my retainers faithfully the gap between my two front teeth opened. Dr. Joel Brodsky being the awesome, upfront professional was the only orthodontist who said it was possible to close the gap without having to put braces on again.... After seeing such effort from staff and progress of my husband. I decided to get Invisalign. At that time, my only issue and goal to fix was my lower teeth. I had a gap in the bottom that caused discomfort when I ate due to food getting stuck and causing pressure. The experience was amazing. Due to Covid, my treatment was prolonged but that was not a problem, I understood. I continued to wear the retainers until they opens back up. By that time, my Invisalign treatment was complete. I mentioned that my small gap was not closed and I was not happy with results. I was talked into getting another rounds of trays which meant more money from me. I do not understand how a patient had to pay for something that want fixed the first time? After the completion of that set, the problem was as STILL not fixed and left that place feeling disappointed. Not only did I spent thousands of dollars to imagine my teeth would be straight, but I was let down in the fact that my goals were not met. If you have high expectations, I would research a place that will offer to fix what's not repaired rather then dismiss your requests. read more

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE AN ADULT OF ANY AGE. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE AN ADULT OF ANY AGE. I had a very long, humiliating and painful experience with an impacted tooth. I came in when I was teenager like everyone else and was told to wait to have any orthodontia intervention until I was 18 to see if the tooth would come down itself. I did and eventually came in when I was about 19, officially an adult now living on my own. I didn't want to do this procedure at all. I was ok having somewhat crooked teeth, but was pushed to do this whole procedure from one of the Brodsky's claiming that it could be nearly life threatening not to. A claim I seriously doubt had an truth to it now with the experience of dishonesty and demeaning behavior I have had. My mother was there during the initial decision making because she payed for it for as I was just getting started in the job market and with school. The complications with getting the impacted tooth to come out and then straightened while going back and forth to school which was all the way in San Diego were arduous enough, but the office made it 10x worse. They very clearly were not used to and even seemed to resent catering to someone who was not a teenager or a child. It was uncomfortable being told about a point system or embarrassing prizes which I was too old to care about and having both the Brodsky's (but ESPECIALLY the older one) constantly shirk me and refuse to communicate to me and talk down to me. Even going so far as to treat me like a child after having to go there for three years and being in 20s at this point. Imagine being in the middle of studying for mid-terms and at a very academically challenging university. You have one day free of classes and work and you have to use it to go to Long Beach and back on an amtrack train. Your 21 and comfortably an adult. You stay at your mom's house who isn't even in town. You go into an office filled with cheesy cut outs, and an obnoxious child's movie playing in the waiting room. You get seated in the orthodontia chair and are sought over by the elder Brodsky who prods your mouth, not telling you when somethings going to hurt, or what he's doing or why, barley making any kind of small talk or showing any interest that you're a person. Then he asks to speak to your mother like you're five years old before he even thinks to update you on your incredibly long and painful medical situation. Again this was when I was going into the office for years by myself. I can't list every negative experience I had here, just understand it was constant disrespect, non-communication, deeply painful experiences like not applying local anesthetic correctly before laser removing skin from the roof of my mouth. Suddenly when I was there for about four years, the tooth had come down and I decided I wanted to see it through all the way and get it straightened I was told by the older Brodsky "Your lucky we even treated you this much. Most Orthodontists would have just let you go." LET ME REMIND YOU THIS WAS 100% THEIR IDEA. They pushed me AND my mother into doing this and were now putting me down for my own medical complications that was wrecking their style. If it wasn't for the gimmicky bullshit they do to please parents and kids I'm sure they would have a much lower rating. Please do yourself a favor and go someplace that will treat you with dignity and respect and won't push into a treating a condition they aren't prepared for. I was deeply uncomfortable whenever I was there which I could have forgiven if the Brodsky's didn't make it clear they did not know how to communicate with adult patients. I am only giving and extra star because I more or less had good interactions with the ladies at the front desk and there were some other staff there that were nice as well. When I was 15 (so back in 1997), I had my braces installed/removed here. The braces were fine, and my teeth are now pretty straight. However, when I had them removed the orthodontist (I believe it was Dr. Brodsky's son) who removed them drilled the glue that held the brackets on the back off my teeth too much. It was painful and felt hot. That day, I couldn't drink anything cold, or have anything cold in my mouth as it was extremely painful. I can remember looking in the mirror at the back of those teeth and noticing they looked pink. My parents called the office about sensitivity to cold, and were told it may be that way for a few weeks. It just never got better. Later we were referred to get them covered. I still have these coverings over the back of my teeth. They're basically covering where they were drilled too deep. The problem is plaque develops and grows around them over time. Whenever I go for a teeth cleaning, it takes extra time to clean around them; it's also a bit painful. The other problem that I've never really gotten over is the teeth feel different. They used to be slightly concave, the natural shape of the teeth. Now they are convex, and I sometimes find my tongue just licking the back of them because of the shape. I thought I would have gotten used to it over time, but I've never really gotten used to it. The final problem here is that my parents paid for all of this out of pocket. We honestly should've sought some kind of payment for damages; including now ongoing pain/suffering because of it, and they should've paid to have the caps put on the back of my teeth. Maybe they've improved since - they have a lot of good reviews; but my experience definitely left me with a sore mouth. read more

I regret going with Broadsky Orthodontics. When I was 10, I had regular braces for 2 years. My teeth were perfect when the braces came off. Unfortunately, I didn't consistently wear my retainer at night, and after over 40 years (a good run) my teeth began to shift forward slightly. I went to Broadsky Orthodontics for a consultation and that was the first and last time the younger Broadsky ever spoke to me, let alone touched my teeth. They're good salesmen, I'll give them that; they talked me into getting Invisalign. Mind you, my teeth were not in horrible shape, just beginning to shift forward a little. Invisalign is an absolute nightmare, at least it is for me. After 15 months and 5400.00 later my teeth are only slightly improved and what's worse is my bite is now completely thrown off. I can no longer enjoy eating. When I continuously complained of this, the staff all assured me once my teeth were "settled" my bite would go back to normal. They have not. I am in hell, and the worst part is I had to pay to be in hell. I just got my retainer today (they are just like Invisalign) and was told I would have to wear them full-time and permanently! After 15 months of a nightmare experience?! I don't think so! What was the point of going through a living nightmare only to be told in the end that I had to keep my teeth PERMANENTLY encased in plastic?! I do not recommend Invisalign nor do I recommend Broadsky Orthodontics. Once the Broadskys have your money, you cease to exist as a human. They don't care whether you're satisfied or not. Forget all their awards and accomplishments. That's all fluff. I was a patient of Dr Brodsky Sr back in the mid 80s. Since then? My son went there and got the Invisalign. I took my two daughters there who had all kinds of chaos going on with their teeth. One had to have surgery. Both had under bites and one cross bite. After two and three years of treatment all three kids teeth are PERFECT!! Sure I could have gone to one of those mill houses and have paid thousands less, but when it comes to your teeth don't you deserve the best? I have gladly paid over $15,000 and will be paying more. As I have one more daughter that will be starting treatment in the next 30 days! In the end my point being......I am no homer by any means. I don't throw out 5 stars often!! But, you need to have your teeth fixed? Your son or daughter need some orthodontics? Not even a question. Buck up, back off the Starbucks and call your dental insurance company !! Ask Dr Brodsky for their best good guy rate, and then figure out how to pay for it. It's going to cost what it's going to cost parents, your kids deserve the best.
