I want to start by saying that the dental care my family has received at Lollipop Dental in Cerritos has been excellent. The dentists have always done great work, and I have no complaints about the quality of the dental treatment itself. My issue is with the billing and front office. In the early months of 2026, I went in for our routine cleaning. I've been bringing my family to this office since 2023, and during that visit I was suddenly told I owed $85 for services dating back to 2023, 2024, and 2025. My question is: why am I just now hearing about this years later? Every time we visit, the front office makes sure payment is collected before we leave. You don't walk out without settling your balance. They told me this balance was discovered during an audit, but that explanation doesn't make much sense when these charges supposedly go back several years. To make matters worse, I now receive frequent calls from their collection company, and the amount isn't even consistent. Sometimes they say I owe $85, and other times it's $87.75. Which amount is actually correct? I typically pay with cash, so it's frustrating to suddenly be told I owe money years after the fact. I don't know whether there was a bookkeeping error or something else happened, but the billing process has been handled very poorly. Being contacted by collections over a balance that was never brought to my attention at the time of service is both frustrating and unprofessional. The dental care deserves praise, but the billing practices have left me questioning whether I can continue bringing my family here. I hope the office improves its accounting and communication so other patients don't experience the same. read more

Quality of care is lacking. My daughter had her cavity filled, then an hour later it fell out. Then she got it filled a second time and it fell out within 30 mins. She didn't eat a thing and the filling just fell out while driving home. Even though I had already mentioned it the first time, I didn't feel like they cared much. I get that there are lots of different dentists and we did see another dentist for her first filling but even more need for better communication. It just lacked the quality of care we have had at our old dentist. My other 3 children also complained, after the first visit, that the cleaning was rough and hurt their mouths a lot. We gave it a chance for 3 cleanings but after so many complaints from my kids, we had to leave. I also didn't like that on the first day, I felt sucked into writing a 5-Star Google review for them for "free" gifts (basically cheap trinkets). The office staff was nice and I felt impressed by the place at first glance, but after 3 visits it just wasn't a good fit for my 4 kids. So be aware. read more

We had always loved the experience until Dentist Karla Basa completely made my son and I feel discriminated! My Son's tooth was hurting so we made an appointment and the first appointment he was a little under the weather (felt sick morning of the appointment) could not cancel appointment because there will be a charge if not cancelled within 24 hours. Totally understand so I took him to JUST get checked because I knew they wouldn't do the extraction same day(I'm assuming because of insurance/approvals). Dentist said he was having "Asthma" issues she also agreed that he needed his tooth pulled out. However she was unable to do anything that day and we needed to get a clearance from his doctor to do the extraction due to Asthma. Okayyy took him to urgent care right after he did not have asthma issues THE DOCTOR checked and said his lungs were clear but tested positive for flu B. Okay I called lollipop dental to let them know he tested positive for the flu to be aware and they asked if I wanted to book a follow up I said I will wait until he is 100% better and call back. I called 2 weeks later made an appointment and when we went we waited over an hour and was told by an assistant the Dentist still needs the clearance form by the doctor. Okay they could have told me that on the phone when I booked the appointment. ( I appreciate the safety for my son) However they have no communication with the third party that books their appointments. Fine we left I took him to Kaiser to get the note, Kaiser will not fill out 3rd party forms so his DOCTOR wrote a letter stating he is cleared to be seen and have any procedure done. Called lollipop and asked if I could email or fax the letter they told me email, sure did that. I waited 2 weeks did not hear back from them called the number to ask for a follow up was told oh I will get a call within 24/48 hours. I did not hear from them. Waited another week still nothing. I called back and got the same run around. At this point if they don't want to take my son just let me know so I don't waste my time or theirs. I felt very sad because we had love lollipop dental but this was just not handled right at all. Also I'm still waiting for the call back from them since April 20,2026! Today's date is June 4. At the end of all this My poor son's tooth has been hurting him. We have now gone to another Dentist and we love it! Shame on you Karla Basa at Cerritos location. read more

My daughter has been coming here since she was 2 years old, and we've always loved the care she received. The staff used to be so warm, friendly, and took the time to explain everything to her, which made her feel comfortable and even excited for her dental visits. Today's visit, however, felt completely different. There was little communication, the dental assistant didn't introduce herself or explain what she was doing, which startled my daughter, and we were surprised to see a different dentist without anyone letting us know beforehand. I'm not writing this to get anyone in trouble, but as a longtime parent who has noticed a change in the level of care and communication. Updating this after my original review 2 years ago. Doctors are the greatest thing here. Customer service is a hit or miss now. The communication between offices and their call center is horrible and basically non existent. Called multiple times to create an appointment with anesthesia and we never got a call back from their anesthesiologist team. Great doctors, but unfortunately the business is not structured. And is it normal for a business to have you speak directly to the worker you complained about? I thought that'd be a higher up's job. read more

I asked on the Cerritos mom page what's a good dentists office for toddlers and a lot of moms ranted about Lollipop Dental so we gave them a try because they are close by. My issue is that their receptionist department is really lacking and doesn't return calls. Terrible if you have an emergency. All the other dental offices I've been to answer the phone right away, but this chain keeps playing a recording with an annoyingly cheery voice until someone gets on the line. I should have read the negative reviews first before coming here. The first time I called them, I was on hold for a long time and eventually left a voicemail. I tried back a few more times and never got a live person on the line. I tried the next day and finally got someone on the phone but it somehow transferred me to someone from their Placentia office and they were able to make an appointment for me for the Cerritos office. I brought my 13 month old twins for their first check up and the visit went fine. There was some crying as expected, but all the dentist did was look inside their mouth and brush their teeth. There were no X-rays done. So we checked out and the front desk scheduled their next visit and said there was no payment needed. Fast forward to two weeks later, I got an email and text saying there was an invoice for both girls. So I tried calling them again. I was on hold for a while and finally reached the receptionist and she put me on hold while she was checking and then after 15 minutes of waiting, I was hung up on. I called back again and she "checked" again and finally said that their billing department would be calling me back within 30 minutes. I never got the call. Looks like I'll either have to go into the office myself to resolve the issue or try calling them again later. What a waste of time! read more

So my husband took my son to get consultation on a to a tooth that was growing behind another tooth. All they did was x-ray and just gave advice that we already knew. I was hoping for something more than that. Mind you this is our first examination of the year and my insurance covers this exam. We had the insurance educate the person who was handling the cost of the visit. When my husband said the person tried to charge us $60 , I was pissed because i signed up for the best insurance in case anything happened. We came here for our kid's one year and 19-month appointment and enjoyed the experience. The place is geared towards kids and have a lot of fun things around the office. The front desk is super nice for check in and the assistant, Stephanie, was nice as well. Dr. Basa, the dentist, works very well with kids and moves quickly. Though since our kid is so young and not exactly cooperative yet, he just got quick exams and some quick topical fluoride at his second appointment. The visits without insurance can get pretty pricey so make sure to check with them on who they accept. He gets a rubber ducky toy at the end of the appointment and you get a popper toy and balloon if you write an honest review. Some kids do seem to have a harder time with the check-ups but overhearing the staff and dentist be so kind and patient was heartwarming. We are so glad we came! This was our child's first visit & nothing but great vibes the whole time. Clean entrance, have cartoons on for the kiddos, & friendly service. After looking for a pediatric dentist for a long time's we finally decided to try Lollipop Dental at the recommendation of a friend. There are few things I always look for at a dentist, timeliness and care being the 2 most important - a clean and modern space is welcomed too. Prior to the appointment, I was asked to fill out patient and insurance information online. I also could've done this through their app. We took our 2 boys to Lollipop today and was promptly greeted by Morgan. The check in process was easy and smooth - you can also check in on their app. My son was called quickly called in after. We didn't wait for long and they were very timely. The space is clean and modern, and inviting especially for kids. There's space next to the patient chair for parents to sit with their kids. The dental assistant and dentist were friendly and concise with their explanation of the treatment plan. They were also warm and knew how to talk to kids. They put our kids at ease. We'll definitely back and plan to continue with the boys' treatment plan here. Glad we tried this place. read more
