Broken drum installed r--value fiberglass blown in fiberglass loose fill, cellulos in my 4 car garage ceiling after I had new dry wall installed. Their quote to me was $1500 and I wondered why it was half the price of the other company I had called that came out to my home and gave me a quote and that is because I did not need a higher r-value in the garage and the other company had quoted me the higher r-value and not giving me a choice. The higher r-value is better for a home but not necessary for a garage. I have separate ac installed in the garage at the same time and the garage stays quiet cool. We needed a new garage door and motor a couple months back. I wasn't even aware that broken drum sold garage doors until a friend told us. Their prices were great and customer service was top notch. Andy Taylor was the associate that helped me from start to finish. He was willing to promptly send me pictures and information on garage doors based on Pinterest photos I showed him. He was full of patience and great information. My item was in stock and installed the following day. Our installer was super nice and professional as well. I was very unhappy with this company. They do not clean up after themselves. I had insulation put in my attic, and they left a mess in the room with the attic opening. Is it really that difficult to bring in a shop vac and clean up the debris??? I also had insulation put in my walls. My house is extremely old with wood siding. They had to cut at least 150 2 inch holes in my house. Many of the holes were messed up due to wrong tools or dull blades. This made it much more difficult for the men that had to plug them. There were also numerous spots where the tool slipped and made gashes in the siding. I had my roof replaced, duct work installed and a new AC unit put on my roof. The 2 companies that did these jobs left my house immaculate! Broken Drum did the opposite. They left all the wooden disks (at least 150 of them) all around my property. Saw dust everywhere. Insulation everywhere. Anything they moved, they just left and didn't bother putting it back. The one thing they did do well was fill every cavity with insulation. I suggest investing in a shop vac and a leaf blower to clean up the mess rather than leaving it for the home owner. It's very unprofessional! read more

My dad hired them for a job in Barstow CA. He works hard and is the best dad in the world. My dad ended up loosing money on the Barstow project and was behind on the Invoice for Apple Valley Insulation. I come in the picture 4months later and my dad still couldn't pay them. So i spoke to Rosa Salas from Bakersfield office(she did not want to settle unless it was the full balance) I said hey i'm just trying to get you guys paid, so how much are you willing to settle this for, "I'll pay for it myself" , I spoke to Christina and Natalie from Hesperia Office "WE WANT THE FULL AMOUNT" not only that, they left threatening voicemails and emails *which i kept for my record. Finally i called Natalie once again and came up with a payment arrangement "Half now, Half before the end of the month" *which i recorded our phone convo. She agreed after speaking to "Management". I give her my credit card info, and confirmed with her that this was not a recurring charge and that it was for only half, she said "Yes!" *To my surprise, I login to my online banking and see the double charge. Here i was thinking that they we're a reputable company. Next i will be filling a formal complaint with the CSLB and BBB read more

Trying to find solutions to my high utility bills and to why my house (built in the late 1950's) is…read moreso cold in the winter and hot in the summer. I phoned Icon Insulation to set up an appointment to have someone come talk to me about insulation. My call was returned immediately by Luis Torres who set up a time to come by my house the next day. After inspecting my attic and walls, Luis let me know that I had no insulation in my walls and very little, if any, insulation in my attic. He gave me an estimate for blowing insulation into my attic only and then gave me an estimate for blowing in insulation into the walls as well. I decided to have Luis do the complete job. We made arrangements for Icon Insulation to start the three to four day project on a Monday at 7:30am...a nice early start. Except for having to cancel one day because of rain, the project ran right on schedule bright and early each day right on time! Job foreman, Juan, worked quietly and diligently...he was there to get the job done. At the end of each day's work, both the inside and outside of my house were cleaned up. Juan even moved my furniture back where it belonged. Luis was always there to make sure the job was done correctly. The cost of the project was exactly what had been estimated. No hidden charges or repair work to be done. I highly recommend Luis Torres and Icon Insulation to anyone who may be thinking about having insulation installed and/or adding to what you may already have.

The job started off a little rocky at first where they came about an hour after they said they would arrive but once they got there they worked efficiently and carefully to blow in insulation throughout the entire house and then patched the stucco so that it would be easier to paint over. It was nice they even patched part of the stucco that was broken/missing. They also quoted a fair price and even though they are located about an hour south of Fresno, they completed the job under the time they quoted and also cleaned everything up, including putting back a curtain rod that was knocked over during the project. Some staff don't speak English, but Luis, the project leader communicated well and did things as promised. I would recommend this company to others for blown-in insulation.

The first gentleman that came out was a young Man who was very thorough and showed me pictures and videos of my AC and let me know about how the dirt inside the system effects how well it works. He also said that I had some pressures that were off making my machine work harder and that he will like his specialist to come talk to me So he called him on the phone and he agreed to come out to do an inspection for free and let me know how we could fix the issue. The young man who looked at my machine was very pleasant and I was extremely happy with the way he explained what was going on and I wouldn't mind using this company if it was him to come service my machine every year. But when the specialist came out Who's name was Brett that's when everything turned For the worse. He was pleasant at first introduced himself and made a couple of jokes that he apparently found humorous since He was the only one laughing at them. He went up in my attic and took a few pictures and when he came down he told me what a complete disaster my Air conditioner was in and that he is surprised that it has worked for as long as it has. He told me that it was unsafe to run the system like this and I should have it redesign immediately. I know my system isn't very new but it hasn't given me any trouble the whole time I've had it. The Last Company that serviced it changed a couple of parts here and there but they never said anything about it being catastrophic. Brett was going on and on about how he is professional and how he knows more than anybody else in the area about air flow and this is why he was able to catch it and not the other company. I felt like I was in the principal's office and he was talking down to me explaining why this has to be changed right now Trying to make me feel bad about my ducting situation that I never knew existed. When We started going over numbers He was saying that this is a premium job and you will pay more to have the best work being done which he provides. When I told him that I'm not comfortable spending that much money he started to discount immediately which made me feel a little uncomfortable on why he was charging so much in the first place if he was able to discount so much so quick. I had a funny feeling with him at the table with me so I just let him know that I appreciate his time but I was gonna get another opinion and talk to my daughter and he asked if my daughter pays the bills. That was the final straw so I Told him that I wasn't interested right now that I wanted to get someone else out to look at everything And he had this look of surprise like he's has never been told no before. I had to tell him that I wasn't interested like 4 or 5 times trying to hint to him that we were done and he just kept sitting there talking and talking and at times talking over me. When he finally got up off the table and walked away I heard him grumbling and saying a few words under his breath in a very unprofessional way that really turned me off of doing business with this company. I talked with my daughter and she said she has never experienced anything like that with this company before so I am hoping this is just a one off situation but I'm Going to get another second opinion and see if the other company says the same thing. Either way if I fix it or not I don't want that person in my house again and I'm surprised a company with this reputation would have someone like that representing them.

They responded, showed up, and provided a quote. However, the experience changed once I started asking questions about the one-year service agreement and billing. Before signing any contract, especially one that locks me into service for a full year, I believe it is reasonable to ask clear questions about the billing cycle, payment dates, and whether anything would be prorated. I asked a simple question: if I signed and paid on 5/11, would my billing cycle start from that date, or would I still be billed on their regular cycle and lose part of the service period? I was not asking to avoid payment or get a discount. I simply wanted to understand what I was agreeing to before signing. Unfortunately, Rachel in billing did not seem clear on the answer, even though I had already discussed some of the details with Dan. That made me uncomfortable because billing and contract terms should be clearly understood by the company before asking a customer to commit for a full year. Instead of calmly answering the question, the tone changed and it felt like they became frustrated that I was asking about the contract at all. As a landlord who does not live in the Bakersfield area, I have to be extra careful about who I hire to service my property. I need to make sure the property is being properly maintained, the billing is clear, and the agreement is fair before I sign anything. Asking questions about a contract should not create tension or attitude from a company. I was genuinely interested in starting service, but this experience made me feel uncomfortable and hesitant. A customer should be able to ask basic contract and billing questions without feeling like they are being a problem. To me, that is not good business, especially when the customer is being asked to commit to a one-year agreement.

I cut the power to the whole house in a panic, then sat there, not totally sure what to do because it was after 5 PM and rapidly getting dark, but hey. . . at least the sizzling had stopped (tiny victories). Gonzalez Electric was one of the first Yelp hits and once I saw Ed's great reviews, I gave him a call. He answered right away, was kind, listened to what happened, and said he'd be right out. Ed arrived at my place within half an hour and got to work. Ed's diagnosis of what was wrong was clear, professional, and he took the time to answer all of my questions. He even provided options for more economical vs longer term fixes. What I really appreciate though is how fair his pricing was--- the truth is that I was in a bad situation: no power, a sizzling breaker box, and a single woman alone at home in the darkness. He could have literally charged me anything and I would have probably paid it because hey, what choice did I have? But Ed didn't do that. He was VERY fair, he gave me options, he was just an all around wonderful person to work with and I am definitely saving his info for all future electrical work. He got everything fixed up before long and we are back to normal over here before I even got dinner on the stove for the night.
