In April 2025 I received a price quote from Exclude but was a little surprised at the quote for insulation for my garage as it is a 4 car garage and the quote was $3315.00. I told them I would call them after the dry wall was installed. I did decide to ,get one more quote and that was $1500 by another company but I wondered why it was so much lower and the reason being is because lower r-value but for a garage that was okay. the higher r-value (higher insulation which was blown in fiberglass loose fill cellulos) would be for a home. Like I mentioned before, I hired ExcludeTech to address a rodent issue and poor insulation in my attic. Gustavo scheduled his crew to start the work the following Monday, and they completed the job within that week. While ExcludeTech got the work done in a timely manner, the problems began after the job was finished. When Gustavo came to collect payment, he assured me that someone would return in a week to conduct a one-week inspection, followed by a two-week inspection, and patch the holes in the stucco that were noted during the estimate. However, after a week, no one showed up for the inspection, and Gustavo wasn't answering his phone. I had to reach out to Daniel, the foreman of the job, to finally get someone out for the inspection. The same thing happened for the second inspection --Gustavo didn't respond, and I had to contact Daniel again to get someone to come for the two-week inspection. I was also promised a six-month inspection which Gustavo contacted me and scheduled it for 8:30 AM on a Wednesday, but no one showed up until 1:00 PM. The main issue was the poor communication after the job was completed. I shouldn't have to chase them to fulfill the commitments they made. I paid this group $9,500.00 to remediate mice and mold, and I still have both. When I call to make an appointment, if they answer the phone or messages, Gus, or Mike, he goes by both, and his inspector Daniel, talk a good game, but the job is not thorough. I have had recurring problems. On the day of these scheduled appointments, Daniel texts, not calls, and changes the time, the day, or both and twice they leave me hanging with a no-show. It's not only frustrating, it's disrespectful. I have had to cancel a vacation and several plans due to complete disregard for the customer after they get paid. I strongly advise against using them. And as far as their 2 or 3 year warranty, what's the point of it when they don't show, or when they do, they don't have the materials to complete the service? Also, they were supposed to seal and pest proof my garage door, but they did a sub-par job and the door sweep fell out as soon as I opened the door because it was not the correct part, and the sides of the door had large gaps so I had to have a professional garage door company fix it, at the cost of another $420.00. Then had to hire Stanley Steemer to clean and sanitize my floors after they left because they didn't clean up when they were done. That was another $350.00. Exclude Tech way over-charged. We have a vacation home in a remote area about an hour outside of Bakersfield. We discovered evidence of mice in our bathrooms and decided we needed assistance addressing the issue. After getting the sense that Excludetech might be the best fit for our problem, we called and had a wonderful and friendly conversation with the owner. We made arrangements to meet him there on an agreed day. He was really nice and great about communicating to confirm. Upon arrival, the crew of three, who were all so very kind and friendly, worked quickly and exhaustively to identify every tiny possible entry point. This was difficult work, as we have a manufactured home with crawl space that is challenging to navigate. They were there for many hours making sure the didn't miss anything. They cleaned and sanitized places where droppings were found, fogged the crawl space and set traps. They will come back weekly to manage the situation. They told us to expect to have the traps go off over the next few days, as some mice may now be stuck inside the house. However, in the few days we were there after, the traps did not go off, which tells us that they did a great job securing the house from them entering. Dishonest. I got an 8-10k quote for a rat and mouse problem that I don't have. The first red flag that went up for me what that the quote was not itemized. When I didn't respond quickly to the quote I received a text telling me that there was good news, insulation was on sale! $350 off! They went up in my attic for no longer than 5 minutes and flashed some quick pictures at me. 8-10k is a lot of money so I wanted to get a second opinion. Benchmark came out and did a thorough assessment. Stayed in the attic for a long time took multiple pictures and explained them all to me. What few rodent droppings I had were gray with dust and undisturbed meaning they were old. My attic did have some entry points but they were covered with cobwebs indicating there was no traffic through those areas and my insulation was in excellent condition! There is an animal dead in my wall. I can pay to have it removed or allow it to decompose. Excludetech should be ashamed. Please get a second opinion before shelling out your money. They are very personable because they are salesmen. Follow up: I initially called because of the dead animal in the wall. It's true. Something died in there. There were flies and I knew exactly where the smell was coming from. A dead animal in your wall doesn't mean you need entirely new insulation. It doesn't even mean you have a rodent problem. We have been trying to contact a few companies to come out and look in our attic. We have been hearing scratches and seeing smalls holes showing up but everyone was way to expensive. I have to say this pest control company did wonders! Living in the new housing development off panama and Buena vista, there are so many rodents and then some. They applied a trapping program in which they came out once a week for a month to access the rat issues. They also covered all entry points into my home and sprayed my attic with chemicals.
