This is a great little diner that we've come to a couple of times now and have enjoyed each time. I especially like their cheese omelette breakfast. It's made perfectly (no burnt eggs!), it's absolutely delicious and very filling. It comes with a huge portion of eggs, potatoes and a side of toast which is enough to keep you full for a majority of your day. Service was friendly and they made sure to keep everyone's coffees full through out the entire time we were there. Definitely recommend this spot for a quick cheap bite. read more

Food is really GOOD!! That being said they have to do something about wait times between ordering and when the food comes out!! It took us an hour between when we ordered and we received our breakfast! Unacceptable!! I so want local small businesses to succeed but this place needs to fix those excessive wait times!! Drove to ER intending to stop here for breakfast. There are three signs, two giant ones, stating that this place is open 7 days a week BUT the lights were off and the door was locked. Sigh. At least put up a sign saying closed because.......what a waste of our time. read more

We went on a Friday at 940 we waited for over 1hr 15min to receive our food. Of that 1hr my eggs Benny sat in the window for 20 minutes. As good as the food is at the broken yolk, and it certainly is, the owner should really hire him self a good restaurant person to help him with his service, went in for breakfast took almost an hour and 15 minutes before we got our food, maybe on a different day it wouldn't be too bad but again as good as his food is the wait time was as bad Also a good short order cook on the grill in the back would make one hell of a difference and definitely be worth the extra cost, I won't stop coming here but I will make sure I have an extra hour to kill. read more

Ugh...it happened again. My wife and went for a nice diner breakfast and the service was s o o o o slow. I even asked my wife if we should go somewhere else. 5 minutes to acknowledge we were there then, a l o n g wait for coffee, menu and breakfast. Really Ugh. About a 45 minute breakfast and it was NOT crowded at all. Waitress was nice but was chatting with a table of older friends while we just waited and waited. Second time this happened S l o w!!! Great breakfast place. I've struggled to find a good breakfast joint on the east side. Prices are great, food comes out hot and service is friendly. Note: Service is efficient/timely but I would not call it fast. If you're in a hurry you probably have to let them know you're in a time crunch. read more

2nd time going within 2 weeks and the first time was a Monday and they were closed after the sign said open 7 days a week. The second time we went they had all table full and no one had their food. We asked when would they be getting food out and the waitress said about an hour. They had 2 cooks who were just slow af. We left as did a bunch of others. Waited an hour for breakfast. Wait staff not very attentive had to ask for refills of coffee and water. Food was good but not worth the wait and service. The service of this place is going to be the cause of them closing. Food is decent but definitely not worth the time especially if you have children. I came here to eat breakfast not to just drink coffee and water until my food comes out an extra hour later. Went for breakfast with my daughter on a Saturday morning. Were seated right away but slow taking our order and waited over 30 minutes without food! Told the waitress we had to leave and asked for food in boxes to go which took another 10 minutes. Was very disappointed with the food when we finally got to eat it in the car. We arrived at the establishment at 12:11 p.m. We were greeted by a sign that politely directed us to "seat ourselves". We picked a quaint spot in the center of the restaurant as to be seen by our server often. The place appeared to be steady and moving along. Please see my frustration below - Placed drink order @ 12:14 p.m. - Ordered "Buffalo Chicken" sandwich with an up-charge fries over macaroni salad @ 12:22 p.m. (11 minutes later) - Asked about the eta @ 12:50 p.m (Told that it would be another few minutes or so - Decided to leave @ 01:05 p.m. - As we were getting up to leave at 01:10 p.m. we noticed that our food was finally being boxed. - My "Buffalo Chicken" Sandwich was simply a chicken patty with with Hot Sauce and a side semi-burned French fries (Which there was an up-charge for) I expected Lettuce, Tomatoes, Cheese, and genuine Buffalo Wing Sauce. Just went to broken yolk in east rochester, ny for the dozeneth time. It was the same as usual. WAIT WAIT AND WAIT. Don't know what the problem is but it took 20 minutes after sitting down right away to get a cup of coffee. From the person that clears tables. Then it took another 15 - 20 minutes before our order was taken. Forty minutes later our food came. The owner's excuse was a lot of people came in at once. That was her same excuse the last time and it wasn't that crowded. The hostess told our friend who joined us that it took long because "we have a small grill. Well when the restaurant was named the New Yorker we never waited that long. I assume they had the same grill size. Too bad we won't be going there again. They need to get a bigger grill and more waitresses. All in all we were there an hour and 40 minutes from the time we got in till we left. We gave them another chance today and they blew it.!!! The Old Slogan, "I'll walk a mile for a Camel!" could well hold true as, "I'll walk a mile for lunch at the Yolk in East Rochester!" Always good and fresh food, and excellent servers. Ironically, we came here because the wait at another place was too long. We were able to get a seat right away, but waited for almost an hour for our food. Having said that, our breakfast was amazing. The French toast was incredible, my son ate every bit of it...he never does that!
