Mediocre food with mediocre service. We went here on a Monday morning. It was a little busy, but definitely tons of spaces to sit. I am not sure if our waitress was flustered or what was going on, but she definitely was not super friendly. I also didn't like that I had my hand out stretched for the check and she bypassed me and went directly back into the booth to give it to my husband who was not waiting for the bill nor did he have his hand out. This is the most expensive diner that I have been to. The add ons are pricey; almost $6 for 2 scrambled eggs; $2 for slices of avocado added to my eggs benedict. You want a burger with fries? You may change your tune when you know it's an extra $2.60. There is no extra charge for non-traditional burger sides like veggie sticks with hummus, cottage cheese, applesauce, chips. There were no kids menus that we were aware of, or offered. Spent over $110 for LUNCH for us 2 and 3 kids under 10. We got two plain cheeseburgers with fries for the boys and it was $15 each. Even if you exclude almost $20 for 3 chocolate milks ($9), mulled cider ($5) and coffee ($3), the food itself was still expensive and didn't justify the cost. How delicious are those two scrambled eggs for $6? Was there saffron in it? I left feeling completely swindled. I went here for the first time with a friend for brunch on Sunday. We were seated fairly quickly and everyone was so friendly and worked so well together. It was so nice to see all the servers working like a well oiled machine and enjoying laughs while doing so. I had the patty melt which came with caramelized onions and thousand island dressing on marble rye, with humus and veggies. My friend had the julienned salad with Bleu cheese. Dina was our server and was just the sweetest! Everything was great and we enjoyed looking at all of the cute and funny signs on the walls and the beautiful autumn decor. The people are very friendly here and the food is good, my only complaint is the price of the pecan pancakes. 1 large pecan pancake was $13 which to me is ridiculous. It had been since December 2018 that we had visited Steve's, and man am I glad I returned. Today's meal and service were fantastic! Our server greeted us right away with iced waters and took our beverage orders. We each got different types of coffee and our server consistently filled each correctly throughout our visit. The restaurant was very busy, and bustling, but the host did a great job at managing the flow of people. I ordered the Steve's Special, which was two eggs, choice of meat and a pancake or French toast. I had over easy eggs, link sausage, and the Reese's pieces pancake. The wait for food was not long at all, and it was worth it!! The eggs were cooked perfectly. The link sausage reminds me of diner sausages in the tri-state area. I also ordered two hash brown patties on the side. But let me tell you about this EPIC pancake. First, the aroma of the pancake told you right away that it was going to taste amazing, and it did. The Reese's pieces were melted and made this pancake sinful. It was absolutely divine. It was great to see this diner, with its incredible menu, offer such amazing food and fabulous service. I was recently at lunch with a friend who has been to the Great American Diner various times. The wait was an issue. We had to both be there before they would seat her. That was ok. We were asked to sit at a table for two that no one could possibly put two people. No space . We were promptly moved by a waitress to a booth just around the corner. The waitress was stressed , it was apparent but she was very good. The menu is vast, interesting and affordable. The food was great. We sat and talked without feeling rushed. I can see why people stand outside waiting for a table. My advice.... Make your waitresses happy and hire someone just for check out.otherwise a great place. read more

I LOVE this place! Both the locations in Penfield and Fairport but since I now live closer to the Fairport location it's been such a great convenience. Lately, I've been order one Reese's Peanut Butter pancake and a side of ham steak. The pancake alone lasts me two days to eat, but I can't seem to help not getting their delicious ham steak - that I usually share with my company. What a cute place!! It was a very busy Saturday morning but we were able to sit right away at the counter. Unfortunately no alcohol (I had a hankering for a bloody mary) but the waitress said they were working on getting a liquor license. It was so busy, with so many people working in the kitchen and in the dining room and it was a well oiled machine. I had the hangover breakfast which was home friend, eggs (I got poached), chili, cheese and a side of toast. I could've done without the beans in the chili but to each his own. My husband had the dumpster which is basically a garbage plate with eggs and he was very pleased. The love cakes look huge and amazing, as so their many Beni's so those are on my list for our return. The servers are friendly and know their stuff! I'll never know how they balance all those plates!! And the food is awesome! What can I say about Steve's Diner except how much I love this place and the food! I'm not a pancake eater in general but here I definitely am! The pancakes completely cover the dinner plate and are delicious! My favorite one has pecans and warm maple syrup and my daughter gets the chocolate chip. They are filled with whatever item you have ordered. Last time I wanted something lighter so I got eggs that had lemon and feta with homes fries and toast which is actually well buttered. Everything is hot and made quickly. I plan to go there again very soon! They have plexiglass in between the tables/booths and sanitize right away after customers leave. They also provide hand sanitizer on every table. Masks and gloves on all staff and masks required on customers until they are seated. All precautions are being practiced here read more

Oh Steve's, we love you. I miss heading into the diner on a Saturday morning and ordering a pancake appetizer as big as a pizza for the table. I even miss waiting outside 20-30 mins for that table. However, takeout is the next best thing. We just ordered our pancake appetizer, and our typical eggs Florentine and breakfast sandwiches. It's sooo good every time. The eggs are always cooked perfectly, I love that you're not stingy with the hollandaise sauce and the copious amounts of spinach on the Florentine. The best part are the super thick English muffins they come on top of. I think they're all Donna Marie's now- which makes it even better. My son loves the m&m pancakes - and we tend to get the cannoli pancake for birthday celebrations. When the pandemic is over, this will be one of our first dine-in restaurants we go to again. read more

I must say that I was skeptical when Steve's opened this second location just a few miles from the original... But he clearly knew what he was doing. This location takes the great food and service that I have always loved and done away with the constraints imposed by the limited size of the original. The restaurant is at least 1/3 larger which has allowed for a much more open floor... No tables jammed together here. They have also tripled the counter space and the pass through and work space for the servers. Much more efficient. Brightly lit and sparkling clean. My server was friendly, service was fast and the giant buckwheat blueberry pancake and coffee were delicious... And 10 minutes closer to home. We had a tiny booth for are party size and asked if we could add a chair on the side or move tables given their were many options when we looked around the diner.
