Visiting from Florida, we happened along this cute, clean diner. Having had six or seven previous meals in the area with some disappointment, this was an absolute treasure. Did not have the best experience, but willing to give it another try. When the hostess asked me if my party was all here I said yes he is just walking in. She said well we have to wait until he gets in here. So she asked the guy behind me is your party all here and he points to my husband who now is in the door and said yes he's right there. And so she sat him without his partner. My husband and I stood there and didn't understand. Then she said we won't have any more tables for 10-15 minutes. We decided to just sit at the counter. I ordered a BLT and my husband ordered an omelette. Mine was sitting up on the heated counter for at least 10 minutes and the waiter asked if I just wanted mine before my husbands. I said yes. It was not the greatest sandwich, and my fries were not hot. My husbands omelette came after I was almost finished. The waiter I could tell felt bad and apologized. read more

Of course the day I went, as most days I hear, Steve's was packed with people. Whenever I am out for breakfast, there are the usual things I order, pancakes being the #1 thing. Fresh blueberry pancakes to be exact. As expected, the pancake was HUGE. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I thought the pancake was overly sweet tasting. I learned by asking the server what was different about this pancake and was told that their pancakes are "cake batter pancakes." I really didn't care for it. I would have preferred the customer be given the OPTION of a buttermilk pancake or a cake batter pancake. But then again, perhaps that's just their niche. The service was great, server was attentive and we weren't rushed, even though the restaurant was crowded. But I don't have a real incentive to return. Sorry Steve. My wife and I stopped here for a late breakfast/early lunch. The diner is in a little strip mall and plenty of parking. It was busy and we were seated by a friendly greeter. Inside has plenty of seating and very clean. Our waitress was friendly and quick with the coffee and refills. I ordered the Dumpster. Wow it was good. My wife ordered the bananas foster French toast. Decent brunch place, extensive menu with tons of savory and sweet options, including a whole page of their love cakes (pancakes) which are absolutely enormous. The omelette and french toast we got were ok, nothing too special. The hashbrowns in particular were very oily and not crispy, honestly worse than McDonalds. It was pretty busy when we came on a Saturday and it was ~15 min wait for a table so we chose to sit at the counter. When I come home my brother and I share places I should visit, and I give him places he should explore based on Yelp reviews. This trip he told me make sure I went by Steve's at least once.... and I ended up going 3 times in the 5 days I was home. We don't have diners in Texas. We only have a few places that even have diner adjacent food. So when I'm up North I'm going to find me a daggone diner EVERY TIME. I sat at the breakfast counter each visit and enjoyed every single item I ordered. I also grabbed a love cake to go for my niece, and the fact that it comes in a pizza box tells you how large it is. Service is quick. Everyone is attentive and nice. The Jamaican me crazy coffee is AMAZING. The pricing is right. There's seating at the breakfast bar, booths, and a few tables. It's a bustling place and everyone is chatty and happy. I loved starting my mornings at home at Steve's and look forward to my next visit. read more

Worst customer service EVER! We were told the wait was 40-45 minutes. We gave our cell. We got a call 20 minutes later which I missed. I called five minutes later to tell them that we were 3 minutes away and were told that we lost our spot and were placed to the back of the line. When I went to talk to the manager I was given no apology or resolution. I was just told "that it is common knowledge that wait times fluctuate and I'm too busy to worry about your issues." Completely horrible customer service. I recommend one of a dozen other diners in the area. read more

I don't get people who say this is a cheap place to eat. First of all, I didn't find the food or service exceptional. Didn't care for the pancakes. If I want cake, I'll order cake. Two breakfasts with just eggs bacon, hashbrowns, 1 pancake (all of which were barely luke warm) and coffee cost $30 before tip. Sorry, I don't consider that cheap. I've had better and much less expensive breakfasts at the Browncroft and Landmark Family Restaurants in Penfield/E. Rochester. Sorry, I don't get the hype over this place. read more

Steve's is really delicious, the love cakes are super good! But the prices are just a tad high for what they are serving. They raised their prices and my bill was just a little too high for a diner, I'd rather make my own pancakes for what they are charging. And it took a really long time to get our food when there wasn't a rush of people. I'll definitely go back but not as frequently with those prices. read more

It is a pleasure to write a review in Steve's Original Diner. We go there frequently and the food is consistently good as is the service. One of my favorites is the eggs Benedict. We also like the Rueben and the BLT...outstanding! The hash browns and home fries are terrific, also. I recently ordered the blueberry French toast which was a real treat. It was covered in blueberries and they were incorporated into the recipe as well. They service unbelievably large pancakes of every type imaginable and have several pictures of folks eating them posted by the inside door. The ambiance is family, couples, singles... very comfortable atmosphere for anyone, really. I highly recommend this diner... you won't be disappointed! read more

I am not too familiar with restaurants in this area so good ol' Yelp to the rescue. This diner has a pretty good rating so I suggested this place to meet my in-laws while I was visiting. We came around 12:30pm on a Saturday. This place was PACKED. We had a 20-30 minute wait, not terrible. I had been CRAVING a turkey club. Unfortunately, at 12:30 they were OUT of turkey. I picked a ham and cheese club instead. A little disappointed that the sides were chips, veggie sticks, applesauce or mac salad. I subbed fries (for nearly $4 extra!!) my sandwich was good nonetheless. My in-laws got a burger (big and delicious) and a tuna melt (which was quite disappointing. The tuna was cold and the cheese was barely melted but we didn't say anything.) We did see several jaw-dropping pancakes (excuse me, love cakes) go by. Hubcap-sized. Crazy big! This is probably not the place to go if what you want is a simple bacon and eggs kind of breakfast (at least not on a weekend), but for an over-the-top breakfast it was terrific! We did have to wait a bit for a table, but that is to be expected for a Sunday morning. I was there with three companions- one had a greek omelette with the addition of gyro meat with a side of with a tasty sauce (cannot remember right now, will update). Another had a pumpkin love cake the size of your face. the third had the Diner Bowl which he said was delicious, but (and I predicted this) the gravy got all over everything and so the individual components were harder to taste. I ordered a side of hash which tasted homemade, my one complaint was that there were too many onions and not enough meat. All of the signature dishes looked amazing! If I were a local I would probably frequent this place (although would try to go midweek when I expect they aren't as busy). read more

The cannoli pancakes are my all time favorite, although they're so big I usually have to take home half as leftovers! There's usually a wait and they don't take reservations, but it doesn't take too long and it's highly worth it. Traditional diner vibes but the food is so much better. Host - owner- was very rude. He yelled at us because we had 3 but wife showed up as we were sitting down So we had 4. They won't seat you unless all in your party are there. She surprised us coming. I love diner food, and Steve's hits the spot. It gets pretty crowded and when we've tried to come with more than 2 people the wait is a lot longer. With just the two of us on a Sunday morning, we were seated in around 20 minutes. They were pretty busy, so service was a little slow, but not the server's fault is was packed and there wasn't a lot of staff that day. I got a coffee and ordered a "The Hangover". The coffee unfortunately was lukewarm. I do like that they have a variety of Fingerlakes coffee available though. The Hangover was very satisfying! Huge portions of food and food didn't take too long to come out. We also ordered a special, red velvet pancakes with raspberry sauce and cream cheese filling. It was delicious! We're not morning people, so that's the only reason we never made it here prior to this! And now we're going to keep coming back! We've gotten take out and dined in. The egg salad sandwich and Mac salad were great. The omelet wasn't anything special, but it was good. And the hash browns were good. But the cheesecake French toast!!! Omg!!! Sooooo good! It will be very hard for me to come here and not get that again! My husband had the Sky burger and the dumpster plate. The plate was actually cheaper, so he got that the next time. He really liked that it had eggs with it, which made it a little different than a usual garbage plate. It's still a little crowded in here if you have COVID concerns. So take out is a great option. The bathrooms are not great either. They're in a weird hallway and they're one person rooms, and the paper towel dispenser wasn't working. Avoid them if you can. But the food; awesome! Stopped in here while in Rochester for a wedding. The wait was quite long so I had high hopes. Overall the food was good. Not mind blowing, but satisfying. I ordered a turkey reuben which was good. The mac salad side was a bit tasteless. We also ordered a pancake and waffle for the table to share. It was good also. The service was very slow, it probably took 50 mins from when we ordered to get our food, but the waitress was very pleasant and we had a table of 8 so I understood. The place is a classic diner feel, which is nice. Overall, a good spot for decent food. read more

FINALLY finally made it here after like...years of staring at pancake photos on Yelp! No element of my recent visit disappointed. From the friendly host and wait staff to the yummy diner coffee - all of it was a really great experience. I tend to skip this spot because it is a bit out of the way and, even with renovations, the wait seems to be a bit long on weekends. Nevertheless, I will be back to order something a bit more flashy than an omelette, which is my classic order (spinach tomato feta.) My breakfast was delicious and had the perfect veggie to egg to cheese ratio. I think prices are pretty on par for what'd you expect at a nice, east side diner.
