In full transparency we were originally going to another diner. The wait there was very long so we left and by happenstance stumbled upon this gem. Best accident ever! The food? delicious! Food was good, however the waiter acted like he was upset that there were patrons there. Did not say a word. There were 3 tables with 2 people at each table. Could not even say welcome or anything! What a treasure this place is. They were very busy when we got there but Chelsea made us feel welcome. We had a 2y/o with us, she brought crayons and coloring books followed by pancakes and sausage. Just finished a fabulous lunch at the Five Mile Cafe. The food was delicious! Their 8 ounce handmade burger was perfectly cooked, juicy and tender and served with hot crispy fries and even a sweet pickle garnish. We also had a delectable tuna melt , grilled on rye with tomatoes and sharp cheddar cheese. I opted for the traditional macaroni salad and it too was a great side with the addition of grated carrots and red onion in a very creamy and tangy mayonnaise dressing. Their menu is extensive for breakfast and lunch entrees! Service and ambiance is a definite 5 star! Do yourself a favor and enjoy a meal at this quaint, spotless and so inviting cafe! read more

What a fun find! Great tasting food. The crab cake Benedict was generous with the crab, and the eggs were perfectly cooked. My daughter got the Reuben, and it also was generous on the meat side. The restaurant was clean and the wait staff was very friendly! Positive sayings and little books on the table reflect hope-nice theme! Found out that Jamaican toast is a dense bread that is slightly sweet. Very nice! Open for breakfast and lunch with breakfast served all day. Highly recommend. Passed my this place many times, so glad we finally went in to eat breakfast. We got a veggie frittata with a blueberry muffin, a chocolate chip pancake and crab cake eggs benny with home fries. Tried everything and it was incredibly fresh tasting and delicious. The service was very warm and friendly as well and the coffee was really good (and Im pretty picky about my coffee). As soon as we arrived, the hostess told us there would be about a 10-minute wait, despite several empty tables that were clearly ready to go. Our waiter was friendly but very slow--it felt like it might've been his first day on the job. My mom ordered her bacon well done, and I asked for mine lightly done. When the food arrived, mine was nearly twice as cooked as hers. The food itself was decent--not great, but not terrible either. However, the service left a lot to be desired. While my mom was mid-bite, the server dropped off the check. Then, just two minutes later, she came back looking for the payment and wanted to box my mom's food up. she offered this while my mom was trying to finish her meal. my mom dropped her fork, passed the server some cash to cover the bill and tip. the woman walked away without even a simple "thank you" While the food might be worth three stars on its own, the poor service and pricing drag the overall experience down. I wouldn't recommend the 5 Mile Café unless you're okay with inattentive, borderline rude service. read more

Bigger than it looks from the outside. Small family owned business, my favorite. We got a wrap, the stuffed French toast and a tuna melt for our brunch-ish meeting. The tuna melt was perfect, coming with a tomato without asking. The stuffed French Toast was fruity, creamy and sweet. Exactly as described. The wrap was light but filling. We ordered pick up from here for breakfast.  My husband went and picked it up, and it took longer than they said to be ready.  I had stuffed French toast. It was pretty good.  The filling in it was really good. My husband got a frittata that was also good.  I wish they had longer hours because my husband and I aren't morning people, so there's not many times we can get here.  I did see they're on Doordash or one of those, so we may try delivery sometime. The establishment has limited seating. It is small and cozy and it appears to be a house that the owners turned into a local breakfast spot. The staff was very polite and they made every accommodation to seat our family of four. Andre was a wonderful server and gave us recommendations for the area. Mom-view-Family friendly breakfast without an overly complex menu. The portions are a good size for children. My girls enjoyed the teddy bear pancake. They keep the food simple just like you would get at home. I enjoyed my quiche and my husband ordered the Benedict. Fantastic. Cozy place off of five mile line rd. Good sized parking lot in the back. We had the stuffed French toast(delicious) and the weekend special jerk chicken breakfast bowl(also delicious). They used a sturdy bread for the French toast so it still had some structure when biting into it. The jerk breakfast bowl came with potatoes, peppers and onions, 2 eggs any way, chicken and jerk sauce. It was so flavorful and great sized portion. The staff was very friendly and personable. Great little spot is a heart of Penfield... Family owned super friendly! We had a delicious breakfast here and sat on the outside patio. Who made biscuits and poultry sausage gravy with eggs and beautifully hand sliced thin home fries. The veggie frittata was loaded with veggies and the Apple & mint garnish was delicious. I can't fathom why this place isn't busier. We've been here for breakfast/brunch a number of times now and it's always good. The owner (Andre?) is always there working, super nice. My better half got the crab Benedict and it was fantastic, perfectly poached eggs and the crab cake was delicious. I got the special, which was a Jamaican spiced mix of sausage, potatoes, veg and eggs. It was great. We need to come back here for lunch. Stuffed French toast was excellent, had it with the fresh (not canned) peaches--nice! (They also offer maple syrup for a little extra.) We'd definitely go back! Portions were generous. The service was quick even for a large group and other customers. The service was attentive throughout the meal. Everything was quite clean and well decorated. Had breakfast this morning, wife had a Veggie Benedict over Jamaican toast and I had an Italian sausage hash omelette. Both were excellent but the best were their home fries. My reuben was excellent and they made great coleslaw! The cost of the meal was $34 which was reasonable. We have also been here several times for breakfast and we were never disappointed. The default potato is home fries which are crisp and tasty. Next time I will do the home fries. They offer a choice of poultry or Italian sausage gravy. Try the poultry.
