5 stars really isnt enough but I will select what is here lol This. food. is. mad. good. period! I am Trini but fell in love with Ghanaian food on my trip there 2 years ago, and have tried many places since then to fill the void. Finally! something close to the real thing in Atlanta. The rice was good flavor, plaintains perfectly fried and fish well seasoned. I also had the egusi soup and the gari and I ate until I was so full I couldn't move. The portions are VERY generous and you get your money's worth. The chef was so friendly as well. I am sure she cooks this food with love!

    Egusi and fufu

I came in yesterday supper hungry I am not gonna lie their food is soo soo delicious I even introduced some people to go there

    Okra soup

I used to eat here once or twice a week but since the owner is no longer there the food is not the same I'm so disappointed i have to find somewhere else i will not waste anymore money here

So amazing. Spicy peanut soup, rice, beef, boiled egg and plantains. Every single bit of this was good.

Hours say they close at 9PM. I walked in just after 9 hoping that maybe they would be willing to make me something quick to go. Nope, they made me feel absolutely welcome and I sat down to eat. I had never eaten African food before and they took the time to explain the entire menu to me. I went with the rice with beef and some peanut soup. Everything was tasty!! Large portions as well. If I lived in this area I would eat here regularly. If you have ever thought about trying African cuisine... give this place a try. As for decor and such... it isn't fancy at all. Do NOT let the looks turn you away.

Ok so this was my first time trying this type of food, and i will say it was truly amazing. I tried the fufu and jollof rice. And it was so good. The lady at the counter is so nice and welcoming. It makes you feel like your at your aunties house. The place was very clean, and u can sit and eat if you like... i will say if you've never tried it, try it lol... its in the same shopping center as jamerican aka the old "throwbacks"

When u first walk in the spot u can tell it's the real deal! Customer service was great. Overall the food was good, portion size was great and the prep was much better than usual. They were only taking cash at the time so that was a bit of an inconvenience but overall great spot!

The pounded yam was smooth and not too thick. I had fun scooping up the Egusi in the Fufu with my hands. Both together was an enjoyable flavor and texture combo. The Beef Suya was good as well, a nice meat appetizer. The beef was cooked well done which some people may not like, but I enjoyed it since I grew up eating my steak that way. It paired very well with the spice blend and raw onions. I also had the Ghanaian Jollof Rice and that was not my most favorite dish due to the flavor. Not my cup of tea, but the rice was cooked well. I also liked the side plantains. The interior is nicely ornate and comfy. The service here was also super great and my assigned server was very personable. I genuinely enjoyed my conversation with her and she did well giving me recommendations and directions as a first timer for this type of food. Overall, I had a great experience here and would come back again!

I didn't know what to order and he allowed us to try the Ayamase and Cassava leaf stew first because they know you may be new. The ambience is casual. While the ambiance wasn't extraordinary, the food more than made up for it, and the service was excellent. I specifically wanted lamb, and they made sure I received my favorite dish, serving it better than some of the more expensive places I've tried. The young lady at the counter was pleasant and patiently explained the menu items. I believe her name was Yama (sp?). I decided to try the tilapia with Attiéké, my aunt had the red snapper and couscous, which was also tasty, but mine was the showstopper!!! I really wanted to try the jolloff rice, but they were out... maybe next time. Anyway, it's a small spot, but welcoming. The food is cooked fresh! It was late, but I wanted to eat right then and there, so we dined in. The tilapia was like nothing I'd ever eaten, seasoned to perfection and it was fried, but also tasted grilled! What?!? It was so delightfully confusing!!! So meaty and fresh, not one piece of meat was going to waste, not even by the head! The Attiéké by itself, kinda bitter, but I mixed with the onion sauce and omg, Wow! That onion sauce is like none other, you have to try it to understand! It's unbelievably good-- a sauce of onions with onion chunks! I'm so glad I tried it! The gentleman that cooked it-- that man knows his way around a kitchen! I believe his name is Moda (sp?) and he's kind too! I'd definitely visit again!

You know nothing about serving customers in the restaurant industry. Every real restauranteur knows the at 1 minute to close you are full service. Lost a customer for life! I also tip very well especially close to closing so counter dude that offered baked chicken or oxtails instead of my fried catfish list atleast $20 because I respect good service late. But whatever you'll be closed in a year no doubt

Very dark and not many traditional tables and chairs. I came around lunch time and there were quite a few ladies in beautiful traditional dress (it was Christmas Eve). I had called ahead and ordered takeout and when I walked in I was promptly acknowledged. Food arrived in the quoted time (25 minutes). Nigerian cuisine is not one I'm incredibly familiar with, but I have tried many of the standard dishes. Today I went with White Rice and Red Stew, which comes with plantains. It was delicious. Piping hot and incredibly fresh. The spice level was perfect. Just spicy enough but in no way overpowering. The plantains added a sweet element which played beautifully against the spice of the stew. The only place they lost points was the price on the website is not the price I was charged. $19 on the website and I was charged $25 but maybe they just haven't updated to reflect current prices. Regardless, I really enjoyed my food and can't wait to go back and try some other dishes. Edit: Take note, it doesn't say "The Island Grill" on the sign. It says "The African Grill."
