Also for the pop-up they sadly didn't have any non-alcoholic options so our designated driver had to settle for a NA beer and just some bar snacks and a few small sips to taste some drinks. The drinks themselves were good, but not quite as amazing as I had hoped. Also, the first half of our time there was either no music or quiet music, but then they brought in a DJ who was way too loud that it made it impossible to hear each other and enjoy the experience.

The week of the event, I happened to be looking on Resy when I saw a bunch of reservations were open on the last night. However, it was only for 2 people and above. Then every reservation disappeared after a few hours. I emailed them again asking if they could squeeze in one person at night on the last day. They said they could and booked me in for 9pm at the bar. I also noticed a bunch of reservations had appeared on Resy again so not sure what was going on with that. When I arrived, I was surprised to see several empty tables considering the event was "sold out", in their words. I sat at the bar, and had the cheese plate and Match Made in Heaven drink. The cheese plate had great cheese but was lacking in accoutrements - almonds and breadsticks were provided but there was no spread given or even honey, which is typically a must in a cheese plate. The Match Made in Heaven drink was a rum forward drink served with a piece of chocolate candy. It was a good drink but nothing out of this world. Jazz music had been playing when I arrived but then ended around 9:15 and they then started blasting regular music in the bar, which was too loud. The service at the bar was not very attentive and I had to flag down a server multiple times for water and also to inquire about the check. I noticed the server was more attentive with the larger parties. The Handshake team seemed nice though they did not serve and just prepared the drinks. Pricing was standard for a NY bar. The bar is located in the lobby of the NH Hotel and the entrance is accessible. I did not use the restroom so I can't comment on them. Overall, I was pretty underwhelmed with the experience at MAD Bar for the pop up. I wonder if visiting the real Handshake bar would be a better experience.

It gives the place a more relaxed and welcoming feel. All of the staff were very friendly. The bartender told us they make their own coffee liqueur, so we tried an espresso martini made with it and loved it so much that I ended up buying a bottle to take home. It's always nice to support a local business doing something unique. They also had a DJ playing music. Overall, it's a cool place to grab a drink or two and hang out with friends.

Chloe herself makes the pastries, while her husband makes the cream tops for the drinks. A dream team, if you will. We all know onyx coffee lab, so I was happy to be able to drink their blends without having to fly to Japan. What really surprised me was how good the madeleines were! For my second round (because I'm a caffeine addict) I got another madeleine, which came in a cute bear shape this time, and the vienna coffee.
