Regional SM mentioned our location is extremely outdated and got mad like it was in my control. BTW, she's from Arizona and has no clue on demographics. Questioned me when someone said it was too far from PV to Whittier. Are you kidding me? Why would anyone from a nice, rich neighborhood want to move to ghetto Whittier and drive almost 2 hours?? Of course she wouldn't understand because she said it was only 30 miles...30 miles in LA will take you 2 hours during rush hour. 8. Homeless people EVERYWHERE 9. A big part of it was the marketer who was not only helpful and communicative, but also enthusiastic about the building and the care staff. She helped them navigate various aspects of relocating our loved one, the pros and cons of different senior living communities and really highlighted the quality care provided by her staff. What ultimately sold us on this community was the memory care. We decided that it would be best to choose a community that had assisted living and memory care in one building so, if the time ever came, it would be a smoother transition should that level of care be needed. Although the building is a bit older, it is well taken care of and has a beautiful courtyard for residents and families to enjoy. I highly recommend taking a tour if you're considering assisted living homes for your loved one!

Over the past 15 years I've had the privilege of working closely with their team and witnessing the high standard of care they provide to their residents. What impresses me most is their consistent professionalism and attention to detail. The staff is always responsive, organized, and proactive when it comes to handling insurance-related matters--making the process smooth not just for vendors like myself, but most importantly, for the residents and their families. Beyond the administrative side, it's clear that the environment at Park Regency retirement, is one built on compassion and respect. Every time I'm on-site, I see smiling faces, meaningful interactions, and a real sense of community. It's obvious that the residents are well cared for--not just physically, but emotionally and socially as well. They're a fantastic partner and an even better resource for families seeking quality assisted-living options.

I've waited a long time to write this review, and since Mom passed away a year ago, I feel it's…read moretime. When it was no longer safe for Mom at home, I found a place for her at Emeritus at Casa Whittier in late 2012. At age 89, she had mobility issues and mild cognitive impairment. I liked the cleanliness of the facility and the friendliness of the staff and the residents. Mom adjusted well and seemed quite satisfied. She even put on some weight because she enjoyed the food so much. Unfortunately, was also change of ownership during Mom's stay (to Brookedale) that caused some serious problems. Example: A new policy was instated that provided for no more than two caregivers per shift. For a 60 apartment residence, that's just not enough. Mom had several bad falls--including one that required 8 stitches to close a scalp laceration. Other residents reported waiting an hour to get assistance to the bathroom, which explained the increase in falls. Tip: If you're looking for placement for a loved one, be sure to ask about staffing levels and talk to the residents. They can often give you a truer picture of daily events. Unfortunately, Mom declined physically and cognitively following a hospitalization and subsequent return to Emeritus. Her decline would have happened anywhere, but the mixed messages that I received from the staff during that time made a stressful series of events even worse. I visited daily, and I'd hear from one person that I should start looking for a board and care facility, and literally the next day I'd hear from someone else that, no, it was their job to help Mom readjust. Then on the third day another call would come and I'd be told that yeah, she had to go. I soon found a board and care facility that better suited Mom's needs and moved her out in June 2014. The new facility had a maximum of 6 residents and a minimum of two 24/7 caregivers. She received better care, was happy and safe, and it was actually less expensive than Emeritus. Tip #2: If a loved one needs care, take the time to learn about what assisted living does and does not provide and decide if that's the setting that will best suit their needs. It looks like Emeritus at Casa Whittier is now known as Whittier Glen, so perhaps there's been another change of ownership and things have improved. I hope so.

I've been meaning to write this review for awhile now. My Aunt who is a senior, she's 80 yrs old,…read morehas been living here for a little over a year. In just that time alone I have seen her personality blossom from being somewhat quiet, shy, cautious even a bit defensive into a VERY happy, social and funny, even dare I say... sassy gal! I will FOREVER be grateful for the Staff here. Each one of them has helped guide us both and I truly cannot recommend this facility high enough, I wish there were 100 Stars! From the start, Sharon Crowe, helped explain senior living, independent & assisted and that they provide both. She helped me and our family understand how to communicate with my Aunt who was initially hesitant on moving because she's not comfortable with change. Well, not may are and that's ok. So we went at a comfortable pace and started gathering information since her Dr. recommended she live in an independent facility and not alone in a condo anymore for her well being all around. What worked for my Aunt was testing out the facility on a respite stay. We didn't even know that was an option. My husband and I had to go out of the country for business and we were extremely concerned about my Aunt who at the time was still living alone in a condo. Sharon suggested a respite stay as a vacation for my Aunt ( they have a room available for this to rent out) where she could experience living there within the community and enjoy all the perks which include 3 meals a day in their nice dining room, tons of different activities every single day, housekeeping, laundry and most important for her and us was that she was in a safe place where if anything happened she'd be ok and we would be immediately notified. Whew, what a weight off our shoulders. THAT was the beginning, the way we eased her into living there. During her respite "vacation" stay she got to know all the staff which was key because becoming familiar and starting to feel safe made a huge impact. Also not having to do chores like cooking or housekeeping or laundry really made her happy! So after we returned from our trip and we discussed moving to a facility like this, there wasn't even a hesitation for my Aunt to state she wanted to stay and live there because there were no unknowns. AND it has only gotten better. She gravitated to the Staff first but slowly has become social and friendly with everyone and now knows every resident and even likes to help new residents learn to play games in the activity room, ( her favorite place!) In fact, when I call her, I try not to during "Bingo" or "game time" because she's busy having FUN! I could go on and on and on and on....really I could! There are so many awesome features including its a smaller community only 60 rooms so it feels more like a family but what I really want to express is that this is the first time in MY life, ( I'm almost 50 years old) that I have ever seen my Aunt this happy. She feels safe and is having FUN! That's what I want for her for the rest of her life and its what I hope to have later on for my husband and myself when we may need to find a home that suits our needs better as seniors. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU to Tonya Reynolds, Gail Blessum, Michael Alonzo, Sharon Crowe, Juli Sanchez, Jerry Saenz, Jorge Casillas, Betsy, Turan and the entire staff. Thank you for helping us, help my Aunt find the perfect home to enjoy her golden years with respect and dignity and I'll say it again FUN!
