I have volunteered at the Orchard and cannot say enough positive things about the care and compassion shown by the staff to their patients. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. The team is very attentive, professional and truly dedicated to the well being of each resident. The facility is clean, safe and well organized. Also very impressed with Activities where I had the opportunity to volunteer in, they had such a variety of well planned things and social programs that keep residents engaged and active. Staff not well trained. Consistently left with nasal cannula on but oxygen machine turned off. Nightshift would take away call lights and yell from door for residents to go to sleep and stop calling. Perforated my family members PEG TUBE and this was suppose to be the "lead" of CNAs. Family member was in respiratory crisis and LVN called it anxiety, it was not till we went to assess and patient got taken to ER and required lengthy hospital admission. The list goes on. And the saddest was that for months rare itchy markings on body would appear and staff did not address nor pay attention to but when we finally took our family member home and removed her gown from the facility she had bed bugs. Disgraceful and heartbreaking. read more

My Mother was a resident for 5 years. In those five years I saw changes in the facility in the way of appearance and activities, they certainly changed for the better. Staff are friendly, but certain had my run-ins with a few CNAs. The cleanliness of the facility is good, they are always cleaning, however there are some things that need to be updated & changed out. My suggestion to you is that you don't just " leave " your loved one there but be their advocate, be their voice. Someone from the family was always there for my Mother so it was easy to check on her needs and catch anything going on. Definitely check on your loved ones and be their voice. Label all belongings and check on them, sometimes they come up missing or " misplaced " especially if they've changed rooms. Overall we were happy with the place . It is small, clean and it was nearby home. We were also there everyday. read more

The students are offered an opportunity to practice and learn from a CNA, LVN, RN and an interdisciplinary team including rehabilitation department. My 92 year old mom is currently receiving care for a fractured hip at The Orchard. She also has mild dementia. She is been there now for a couple months, and I am very pleased with the amount of support she is getting from the nursing staff, physical therapy, case manager, Krishna, and social worker Irene. Everyone is very friendly and always willing to help answer all of my questions regarding my mom's treatment plan. Likewise, when they have questions they always contact me, and let me know ahead of time if any of her care is going to change. Irene, who is the resident social worker, has been exceptionally helpful walking me through the process of finding long-term placement for my mom. She always calls me back in a timely manner, and I believe she cares as much as I do about finding mom the best living situation, once she leaves the facility. Mom likes the outside garden area, the food, and she enjoys the activities that go on during the day. I like knowing that my mom is being well taken care in her recovery and that her team is well keyed-in to the awareness of her dementia. I would recommend The Orchard for your love ones. read more

This is the best and cleanest facility for physical rehabilitation. My Mom was dying already and couldn't walk or stand and after being admitted to The Orchard and receiving daily physical therapy she regained her strength and was able to walk again. I can't thank the staff at the Orchard enough for the care they gave my Mom. She was clean and and was taken care of from maintenance to LVNs they worked as a great team to help our family with Mom. Again, I would highly recommend The Orchard for those that need a post acute care center. I rate it a 10+ IMy Mom was there from May to July and our experience was awesome. Quality of care is lacking due to care givers attitude I was there for a month and had 3 or 4 good care givers that were very attentive to patients. Dr. In charge did absolutely nothing for me, if I asked her a question said she would check and get back to me. Never got back to me. When using the the red button for assistance twice it took over an hour. Waiting 20 or 30 minutes was common. read more

My friend is there, long term, and is happy enough with everything. According to her, the physical rehabilitation is excellent, the food is 'okay', but most of the staff are lovely. There's just one caregiver, Susie, who has been mean to her - so, if you put your loved one there, make sure that person isn't in charge of taking care of someone you love. read more

The level of care offered at Orchard will not only meet but exceed your expectations. I had a serious trip & fall accident this summer which resulted in emergency surgery, casts on both legs and the inability to walk. I arrived to Orchard Post Acute Care in a state of anxiety, perplexity, residual pain, and fear of the unknown. I was immediately surrounded by the most compassionate, warm, attentive, and kind hearted staff. As the days turned into weeks, I began to understand the complexity of all the moving parts in this facility. From the CNAs, RNs, LVNs, case manager, supervisors, charge nurses, treatment care, admissions staff - each and every one crucial in providing the highest level of care. Every single day I was treated with respect and tenderness, I consistently felt heard and well taken care of. I will never be able to thank the staff at Orchard enough for all they did in assisting with my recovery. Every one of the physical therapist were incredible, they kept me motivated and encouraged me to keep moving forward. Even on my "off" days they gave me the confidence to forge ahead. Because of amazing care by Orchard staff, I was discharged within 3 weeks. I felt confident going home because of the skills they taught me. This is a love letter to them ALL. My 96 year old Mom spent a total of 3 months at Orchard. She had broken her leg and needed more help than we could give her at home. I have seen several SNFs and found Orchard to be the very best. We send our loved ones (or ourselves) at our most vulnerable times - ill, injured, sick - and need to feel confident with our choice. The first few weeks were hard - Mom had never needed a nursing facility. The initial CNAs were the kindest, loving, caring group I'd ever met. They helped Mom feel welcome, always encouring her and reminding her that she was going to get well and get back home. Mom was always clean and happy every day! The PT and OT departments started working with her right away. Even though Mom couldn't do a lot, she did a little more each day until she was walking in the halls (assisted of course and using her walker) and finally ready to come home. The facility was always clean....the floors were mopped daily and polished regularly. All of the rooms, bathrooms, dining area, PT, lobby and nurse stations were always clean and tidy. The nursing staff was wonderful - Mom takes a number of medications and they kept them straight and delivered them always on time. The food was very good - the dietician spent time with us the first few days to determine likes/dislikes for Mom - she loves her coffee and had a fresh cup with each meal. If it was forgotten, a simple request got it to her right away. The front desk staff was very helpful - giving Covid tests daily to ensure that all guests were safe to visit their loved ones. There was an outbreak after the holidays - the staff beefed up all precautions and limited the outbreak. I was very thankful Mom never got it. Overall, my experience was very good - the administration provided me with all the information I needed to navigate the facility. From the top down, I feel it is run very well, has a great team that work well together and I won't hesitate to recommend them to anyone that needs short or long term care. read more

I highly recommend The Orchard. I semi recently had my uncle moved here from his previous facility. This was his 5th facility within a few years and this was by far the best one. From the moment we arrived the staff(Romeo) were very helpful at getting him settled that first night. They also worked with his hospice to coordinate care and make sure he had what he needed. I appreciated the communication from the facility and felt like I had a good idea of my uncle's condition even on the days I wasn't able to come in. Every time I saw him, he was always clean and his hair/facial hair was groomed, which might not sound like a big deal, but this isn't the case for every facility. Visits were easy, parking was usually easy, and the facility itself is nice. They have a large garden in the front and back of the facility with plenty of tables. We were able to walk him outside to visit and bring him food from home, he had an unrestricted diet, so make sure to ask before bringing anything. They have plenty of daily activities we'd see on the calendar and in person during our visits, but my uncle mostly just chose to stay in his room. It's important to note that the majority of the rooms have 4 beds, which can make for pretty cramped living quarters and my uncle would get annoyed hearing everyone else's TVs. But that was really his only complaint, which is saying a lot because he wasn't shy about complaining about the downfalls of the other facilities. He said the food was good, he liked getting a menu everyday and being able to make meal substitutions if he didn't like what they were serving was something he appreciated. I would 100% not hesitate in having another loved one placed here. There was really only one issue we had right before he passed away and it was that nobody from the facility seemed to know he was actively leaving us. Other than caring for family members, I have no formal medical training and I was able to see his heart rate and oxygen levels declining within just the short amount of time I was there. His coloring changed, his breathing changed, and heart rate gradually continued to slow. I notified the nurse who told me he started antibiotics earlier in the day and was just tired, but I could see what was happening. I called immediate family to come, there were 4 of us but we were only allowed in 2 at a time, no exceptions or even a different room for more privacy. A very short while later, he passed away and I walked out to the hallway to let his nurse know he was gone and her response was a giggle and said "gone where?" She was confused and surprised he had passed away, which was a bit alarming since I'm sure she deals with this situation fairly frequently given the setting and I told her he was declining rapidly. So minus one start for not really handling the whole situation tactfully. But the months of care they provided to him prior to that were great and all in all I still think it's a really good facility in comparison to the many others I've seen. read more

When they checked my mother in and did the paperwork the staff member was the only respectful one. The other staff members I engaged with have only their own interest in mind, The staff has no respect of care for the patients. if a patient is unable to do anything for oneself there is no respect for the patient, they just put my mother room and ignored her. One day I asked for a staff member to please hold the phone to my mothers ear to let her know her great grandson was born and can you believe it I hear my mother say four times after someone obviously tried to hand her the phone and just placed it on her chest and she could not hold the phone, Can someone help me please, can someone help me please, can someone help me please. And I hear someone say what do you need and mom says can you please help me. Pathetic service and they way she spoke to my mother completely unacceptable. To asking and begging to have the staff put in and take out her dentures daily they found that an impossible task. It was not until I asked four times that I was told we will put something in her file, Why does it take a family member to push as an advocate to try and make it happen To asking to see the PT schedule and what was conducted with my mother and I was told that I was not permitted to see that. Well the insurance company definitely needs to hear about this. I asked to get her weight daily and I was not told her weight each time I asked. But I was told what she weighed on the day she left PIH. We weighed her upon being admitted to her new place and she has lost way to much weight in eight days. To the day she checked in, Mothers flowers never made it to her room only one set of them I was told when I asked on day two that there were not two sets of flowers for her. Imagine that I personally carried them over from PIH to the front door of the OrChard and am told they never made it. To not even turning my mother in her bed until the fifth day when I asked what was going on with turning her to assure she would not get sores then I was told they would put something in place. Once at her new place She was checked and they found very red rashes on the inside of her legs a sign that she was left in her diaper far too long. Then I sent an email to all staff and guess what the next day I'm told coverage is ending in two days! Hmm they don't like for family to be advocates for the patients do they? Nor do they like you to discover their neglect and failure to care for the patients professionally . . Visiting you enter through the back where the waste is how healthy can that be? You enter through the laundry area where the most germs are how safe is that? They gown you up yet take you through the most germ filled area where soiled bedding, laundry is kept. Some days they give you a shield, some days they don't. Some days they give you an N95 masks and some they don't, scary Upon coming home and unpacking my mothers suitcase we have clothing that does not belong to us along with pajamas etc wow and missing six pieces of my mothers clothing they can't even keep the laundry right. And all her clothes had her name on them how does this happen. Sadly a heartbreaking stay at the Orchard for my mother. Of course since this post they will make a lot of improvements read more

Only send your loved ones here if you want them to expire here. The receptionist is wildly unprofessional and disrespectful. The staff who cares for your loved ones, unfortunately most can never be found ... oh wait you can find them, sitting on their phones at their stations. The billing department, no joke is clueless. You basically have to do everyone's job at this place. No one take accountability here, which is sad. They also did not give proper meds to my family member, and I have filed with Medicare. It's a scary place here. They made several mistakes and no EVER mentioned anything. This place should be closed down! I'm sure in time it will be, just sad that poor souls are sent here to suffer. Horrible care! My loved one sat in urine soaked clothes! If a patient is asleep when meals arrive, they don't wake them. I watched this for hours as they were my loved ones roommates. Unbelievable! In another example, one gentlemen had a bowel movement in his pants. I watched a nursing aid clean him up without protective gloves on. read more

We had a positive experience at the orchard. My mom had back surgery at PIH and was sent here. Ana, Irene social worker are amazing. From admission to discharge the orchard team is with you every step of the way. Especially when dealing with such difficult times. My mom went thru rehab here. She was released and doing very well! The nurse staff was very attentive and helpful. The facility is clean and well kept compared to other facilities I have visited.

The first week we asked that moms laundry not be done but that the family would do it. Do in the first week of a 4 week stay, Mom lost a blouse and a pair of pants--went to their laundry! We found the pants the day before discharge because we demanded that we be allowed to go through their laundry ourselves. There were the pants; label and all! The blouse showed up 4 weeks later. Do people not know how to read signs that say "laundry done by family"??? Disappointing. The clothing was marked too. The staff was pleasant. read more

I read these reviews on Yelp about the orchard Post acute Care the one thing that gets me is the manager Britney or something named like that it's an important because you know what she's a joke she has no authorization on anything that she puts on this thing about thank you for your response we're going to check into it somebody should check into her because you know what she does nothing the managers there do nothing the only people that do something or the people on the floor and there are tied behind their backs because they tried to do more and they hold them back from doing it to the patients so you tell me what you send your family member here I wouldn't be ashamed if you do. Bring your self to the realization that this place is not what it says it is. The state of California should check into these people for the way they treat their patients. read more

If I can give zero I would. My Aunt is here and when me and my mom went to visit her because of COVID we had to see her through a windows. She was sitting in a chair she can't talk or move and she fell . She fell mad I felt so worthless being on the other side of the window I banged on that window so hard she had no sitter so be carful if you love your loved one I don't think they get the proper care here. read more

From the moment you call you are giving the information and the support you need. The admissions department is very helpful and kind. When you walk in you can smell clean air definitely not like some others! The receptionist is always very happy and smiling (all shifts). The staff is very helpful and tentative. The rehab is excellent and the nurses / CNA's are very kind and patient. If your looking for a skilled nursing facility with excellent rehab and great staff The Orchard Post acute is the place to be! I completely agree with all the reviews that were forced to leave a one star...this place does not deserve any star. I'm pretty sure that the reviews that gave good reviews were made up by their own staff. This place is not a rehabilitation facility...it's more like babysitting with most "care takers" being frustrated with the elderly ...please pray for wisdom and that the Lord provide you with strength...believe me i know its so difficult when you feel like you have no other option...be involved in everything for your loved one....love on your family member and do not ever abandon them...most elderly here are like lost children...just look around In this facility..this was the worst experience of my life and my family members life...we both still suffer from PTSD...we are blessed to have my family member home...loved and taken care of....it's hard but possible....THE LORD WILL MAKE A WAY ...God bless you and cover you... read more

My Grandma had a 2 week stay here at The Orchard. Being very traditional she is very selective. *picky some may say Having had bad treatment and horrible experience in a care center in Costa Mesa. She was not so trusting. Till we found The Orchard that is!! She for once actually called a facility "Home"! Which is a Shocker!! Quite frankly this facility has GREaT odor, the staff is simply amazing.!! VERY caring , patient!! They seem to even show love and compassion for the clients!! I MOST DEFINITELY will vouch for The Orchard!!! Not to mention the Food they serve IS Delicious!! To The Orchard thanks again for taking Marvelous care of my Nanny !! Blessings read more

As an intern, I saw a lot of behind the scenes activity and one thing I can tell you, is that this group of caregivers is invested in their residents. This is a terrible facility with no compassion at all for the patients. My mother was here for less then 24 hours before we had to come pick her up. They have no compassion when patients are in pain and in need of things. My mom also was promised her room would be changed because of a screaming lady! All night my mom slept 10 minutes and the supervision told me himself he would be changing her room. This is a perfect place to put your parents if you don't love them! Crap! This is a great Nursing Home. My mom has been treated with respect and consideration. The first day she was there everyone came to see and talk to her. From the admitting staff to the dietitian were there to see to her needs. Mom loves the food, she is a picky eater and they are able to accommodate her if there is something she does not like. She gets therapy from caring therapist everyday. You find patients in the activity room with plenty of attendants to help them with the daily activities. The rooms and hallways are spotless, and there is always someone walking around cleaning. The admitting staff is friendly and knowledgeable and explains everything to you. My mother was transferred from the hospital to Oracherd post acute after a bout with covid and pneumonia ( after her back surgery in Oct.) My mother was week but could feed herself when she left the hospital. She became weaker not healthier in there care. Due to covid family was not able to see or visit her. It was hard to get ahold of staff to check on her. Her belongings were miss placed or altogether lost. She was in there care for a total of 3 weeks. She was take back to the hospital. She was very dehydrated and malnourished. After a week and a half my mother passed away. I would definitely NOT recommend this place for your loved ones. T. Edwards read more
