We finally did it and I absolutely love my house. I loved it before but the finished product captured the essence of what I was looking for in a house we plan to live in the rest of our lives. My grandparents were the original owners of this home built in 1947 and so much of the fabric of my family is wrapped up here. With that said, several things needed updated and I met with several builders before anyone touched this place. I was so pleased with Brooke's approach. He was clear on what needed to be done and open to my concerns and vision. He referred us to a fantastic architect Lili M. to get us started and get the most of the space we were making. The best decision we made was Mark L. for design and color. Seriously. He was described to us as the "secret sauce" of BSB and truly it made decisions, color choice 1,000x easier and probably saved my marriage. Our house was maybe a smaller undertaking in the grand scheme of houses in the bay area, but it was a major deal for us since we decided to live here while we added the kitchen, laundry and covered patio. From fixtures, to cabinets, to doors, HVAC, floors...Brooke is well connected and they know his high expectations. Brooke and his team with Steve F. were a dream to work with. Work progressed everyday and Chris who was over seeing the project was available for all of my OCD calls, last minute changes, and clarification. I loved coming home and chatting with such a friendly crew who were patient with us all the way (including my 3 dogs). We are a kid/dog/chicken household as you will see in the pictures. When it came to the dog wash in the laundry room, they worked with my very particular details that I kept in my head. Chris put it to paper and Steve's crew went above and beyond on the tile detail. They knew this was my favorite part of the project and it did not disappoint. The dog wash was our temporary chicken ER this weekend when one of our girls hurt her toe. All is healing just fine. I have to say that inspections were seamless and the crew was well-versed with the San Jose codes and the various inspectors. Brooke would even send my husband and I videos during the day with progress.
We finished construction in October 2016 and still to this day we get up and talk about how happy we are with our new/old house. This will be the first spring we get to use the covered patio regularly and we can't wait. I just can't say enough about our experience. It was a long 6 months but it was smooth, steady, and we LOVE how everything turned out. We will be back one day for our master suite addition...one day. read more
