My family and I found ourselves working with a company that delayed over 10 months and came back with an estimate more than twice what we requested for our extensive backyard remodel. We are thankful she did as we also could not have been any happier with the end result. Our experience with the project designer Taylor was wonderful as she listened to every piece of input or concern we had to deliver what we wanted, while also providing her own insight and expertise. Project manager Ramon was present at each step in the process and quick to explain or adjust anything we needed. The work crew, like Francisco, was also top-notch. Hard working, experienced, trustworthy, and great craftsmen. Bill, the owner, has set a high bar in making sure clients are satisfied and the process moves as smoothly as possible. He limits his company from accepting any job outside of a 12 miles radius so they can make sure they offer the type of attention that is needed. It also allows them to address issues and deliver materials and machinery more quickly. It also allowed us to visit other nearby projects to see certain materials up close we were considering. Seeing the owner of the company frequently stop by at days end to not only check on the progress, but to connect with us about how we thought things were going and to help with decisions we were having trouble with, is not typically seen. From the color of pool tiles, explaining the permit process step by step, to helping us decide where to cut costs when needed, there was a patience and involvement that I don't think we would have found elsewhere. Five Stars for Good Reasons. We chose Brooker Associates for a major hardscape and landscape project. All new concrete driveway, front walkway, brick pillars, front door landing, artificial turf front and back, over 120 plants with drip irrigation system and low voltage landscape lighting. After looking at examples of their work and receiving a very creative project design from Taylor, we decided to go with Brooker and not bother to get multiple quotes which goes against my way of getting work done. No regrets; we are extremely pleased not only with the end result but also the respect for our property demonstrated by every worker we met. Project manager Ramon was present quite often and communicated our status very well, which was challenging in light of so much raw materials shortage much of the construction industry is facing. Ramon, Octavio, Leo, Carlos, Francisco, Randy, Eric and Taylor gave us 110% effort. Bill Brooker runs a great company, he makes sure there are no cut corners and the team works very well with their clients to realize their hardscape and landscape vision. Many on Brooker's team have been with the company for twenty years or longer, they work very well together and they're really good at what they do - no "on the job training" here! According to Brooker, they only accept projects within a twelve mile radius from their offices / materials yard so time is not wasted in transit, and extra machinery and materials are available as needed within the hour. Every job has different challenges, and I think this made a positive difference for us. The attached photos do not give the craftsmanship justice; the work and materials are simply beautiful. The plants have grown in quite nicely and are now thriving. Don't compromise on something this important. You should either expect to pay a premium for premium work...or you will pay similarly to have the work done over again and/or to fix damage to your property. Ramon, Roger, and the entire team at Brooker were excellent! From design, construction through completion, they were there every step of the way. Addressed all my questions and took care of any concerns. They were a call or text away, I would have random thoughts at night about the project, and within minutes Ramon would respond to my text. I did a front yard and backyard hardscape/landscape project, and everything turned out perfectly. Roger is a highly skilled designer and captured our wishes perfectly. I have hired Brooker Associates to complete various projects around my home. The first, was having them install brick ribbons and paving stones under my patio cover. That job was a couple years back and has held up nicely. Then I had them come back and do a couple vinyl gates. Since I loved my gates so much, I then decided to have them do my entire perimeter fencing and subsequently removed the existing block wall and wood fence and replaced with vinyl. After the vinyl, they planted some palm trees in the backyard in front of my new fence to complete the backyard. I had them work in some variety in the front yard planters with plant materials. At the same time, they removed a bunch of ugly trees that had come with my house when I bought it. My home exterior is now completed thanks to them and I couldn't be any happier! I have pride when I invite people over to my house and love to show off the before and after photos! One thing I really loved was the fact that the owners are genuine people who care about customer satisfaction and will do what's right to make sure their customer is happy with the finished product. I drove by the Brooker Associates offices yesterday, which was perfect timing because we need a contractor for some fixes around our house. I went online to check 'em out and found an overwhelming amount of 5-star reviews. Then of course you had a couple negative reviews; one regarding interaction on the phone for a first-time caller. I just got off the phone after calling to inquire about the work we need done. Both the lady who answered my call (sorry I didn't catch her name), and Roger, one of the designers, were awesome to deal with. Speedy, friendly and helpful. We had Brooker Associates landscape both our front and back yards. We visited their office and, after reviewing their portfolio of completed projects, had them prepare and design a landscape plan for us. The designer, Taylor, took our ideas, likes and dislikes, reference images, things we wanted to keep or remove, and budget and came back with a detailed plan and 3D fly through. Taylor was a pleasure to work with, had great ideas, and did a great job within our budget. Though we could have taken the plans to another landscaper, we opted to have Brooker Associates implement the design. Mike, the foreman, oversaw the project which included demolition, moving some trees, and installation. We had some third-party items, a gazebo and water feature, that Mike also coordinated installation on. Mike took care of last minute changes to the design and made many great recommendations for changes and tweaks during the installation. Mike, like Taylor, was easy to work with and the crew was very polite and professional. We kept some of the front hardscape to reduce the project cost, the back was completely replaced. Demolition was quick. Hardscape materials included pavers, gravel, DG, and concrete. Softscape included drought tolerant plants, drip irrigation system, low voltage lighting, and planting of some grapevines we purchased ourselves. Mike has been very responsive with post-installation followup issues, such as small plant replacement or minor adjustments to our water feature. Everyone that comes to visit our house comments on how beautiful our landscape is. Our backyard is now an enjoyable place to sit and relax in. My wife and I could not be more pleased with the process and final result - I definitely recommend their services for both design and installation. Brooker Associates, Inc. did an amazing job redoing our front yard. We highly recommend them to anyone considering any kind of landscaping project. We had researched and were disappointed with several other landscaping firms before we discovered Brooker Associates. From the very first moment, everyone we talked to was friendly, open, and very professional. Mike, the project manager, really listened to what my wife said she wanted and worked with his landscape architect to produce a professional architectural rendering that incorporated most of our pencil sketches, but really took the whole concept to a much higher level, and much more beautiful outcome... while remaining within our budget. Brooker Associates is one company that does it all... and with their own skilled crews. To begin with, they demolished the 40-year old concrete driveway and walkways, brick planters, plants, bushes, old sprinkler system, and lawn. They then expertly laid pavers to create a new driveway, front entryway, and patio. Decomposed granite was used to create walkways and driveway boarders; all contained within concrete edging boarders for a very professional look. Weed barriers were laid out, and the stepping stones, plants, trees, and flowers were arranged per the architectural rendering before planting. This allowed one last chance to change things around according to color, balance, and aesthetics. Finally, everything got planted, the drip watering system installed, and an amazing black-bark ground cover was used to create a stunning new front yard that really stands out! There were also many little touches that you're not going to find with other companies. Things like adding additional drain lines, laying electrical (at no cost) in case we'd like to install outside lighting sometime in the future, layout drawings (so we'll know where everything can be found years from now), and dozens of other little touches that demonstrated Brooker Associates commitment to customer satisfaction... and we certainly are satisfied! Brooker Associates recently completed a backyard and pool renovation for our home in Whittier that has completely transformed our yard and receives compliments from everyone. But the most impressive and unusual things about the company are the amazing customer service provided by the owner, Bill Brooker, and his incredible honesty and integrity. Thus, when I saw the negative review on Yelp and spoke with Bill, I had to write because I know that review is absolutely not true. (Actually, I'm kind of outraged someone would try to damage the reputation of such a good company.) Previous to working with Brooker Associates, my husband and I had used other contractors to do a major renovation of the inside and front yard of our home. We were fortunate that nearly all the contractors and subcontractors used were very ethical and did beautiful work that we are very happy with. However, I can definitely say that Brooker Associates provided, by far, the best customer service and attention to detail of all the contractors we used, besides giving us a beautiful product for a very reasonable price. Bill truly enjoys the challenge and satisfaction of doing landscape and pool renovations, and worked very closely and patiently with us to ensure the final product was what we wanted and was within our budget. Bill uses a pool subcontractor he has worked with for 15 years, but he still would drop by on an almost daily basis to monitor our project's progress and was always available for phone calls. In the few instances where a problem or issue came up, as is the case in any renovation, Bill and his staff would take care of it quickly, fairly and graciously. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that Brooker Associates is on the opposite end of the spectrum of the company depicted in the negative review. I contacted Brooker Assc. for a quote and they wrote my cell number down incorrectly and weren't able to follow up. They sent a worker to my home unannounced on a Saturday (not the end of the world, luckily I was home). They measured and said they would follow up with a quote. Several days later, no quote. I contacted the Operations Manager Ramon Avalos, who did the measuring and did not get a response. Today is one week later and I still have not heard from this company or Ramon regarding my quote. Brooker is contracted to do work on my condo complex. They gave us instructions to remove everything off the patio. They then reschedule for a week later after everything has already been moved. Highly inconvenient for a owner or tenant. From the looks of the other reviews they also do sloppy work. I will take before and after pictures. Best of luck if your association uses them. read more

Brooker and Assoc created a pool/spa for us on our property in La Habra Heights. We have a steep property that posed difficulties, and other pool construction companies refused to take our project on. Bill Brooker and his team didn't hesitate to take our project on, and they handled the logistics and unique aspects of the project with confidence and professionalism. They really seemed to enjoy the challenge. At all times, Bill, Jesse, and the workers on their team were courteous and friendly throughout the duration of the job. They were patient with us when were trying to make decisions on materials and design. They were always willing to answer any questions we had. When the project was finishing, we had some requests about the clean up and finishing touches. We presented a list to them and they promptly addressed everything in a satisfactory way. The salt water pool/spa that they built is unique and beautiful. The team built a rock wall with 3 waterfalls. They also put in a very nice patio of pavers with drainage. Also, we wanted a heat pump instead of the more common heaters used in pools. That was another feature that other companies had no interest in, and even though Bill and Jesse had not used this kind of heater before, (they are not commonly used), they didn't hesitate to install the heat pump for us, and it works very well. We are very pleased with our pool, it adds beauty and value to our property. We can recommend Bill Brooker and Assoc. for pool construction, patios and other outdoor construction projects. Also, the showroom and grounds are very nice to go and see. As soon as (Bill) owner saw our Pool area and our yard he knew exactly what we needed. After the design was completed it took them 1 week to complete our yard. I got to know about them as they do landscape maintenance in my condo community in Fullerton. As i need to get some work done in my backyard, I went on their website to see if they do any residential work (I preferred to do some research before calling to save time for me and them). and their website said that they do "a wide variety of residential landscaping". so I called to ask more questions. A lady picked up the phone, and I said that I saw their truck in my community and figured that they do the landscape work here, and asked if they do any Residential job here. Then she said "No, we don't do residential work". She sounded like she didn't want to talk to me anymore. Confused having seen that they do residential work on the website, i asked again "oh, even if i hire you indiviually, you dont do residential work?", (thinking maybe she misunderstood me that i wanted the service for free to be included as a part of the HOA work), then she answered "No, you can't hire us. we don't do any residential work in that area." But the way she talked is very rude and sounded like she was sick of talking to me, like I'm some dumb sh*t. I was being too nice and explained why i was asking those questions and mentioned about their website being different from what she's saying. she didn't apologize, rather made me feel even worse by keeping ignoring me. I understand she maybe frustrated that a customer calling was not fully aware of what they do. But that can't be a reason to be rude to a customer calling for the first time. Plus, if she can't tolerate a 1 minute+ phone call asking about their business, they should at least make their website more specific and clear. I am the one to be frustrated being misinformed!!!, not their representative whose job is to answer customers' questions on their main phone line. read more

She also followed up through out the job to make sure it was what we wanted. Also helped in getting homeowner association approval and required city permits which was a bonus. Mr. Mike and his crews did great work. Always punctual, nice guys and kept the worksite as clean and picked up as possible. They even added things we would not even had known we needed.
