Oh, another move, another storage rental! By now, my family and I should be experts! Indeed, I think we qualify. From here to Charlottesville, Charleston and DC, we've covered a lot of ground, I tell you. Our most recent foray into storage unit rental is at Brookhaven Self Storage. Neat, clean, and with the slightly more expensive though still reasonable for a small unit at $89/month for climate controlled pick, is this neighborhood option. Packed up all my stuff and used UHaul (btw, unlimited time/day for $29 plus $0.99/mile plus gas - definitely about the cheapest moving option around if you're willing to do it yourself) to get my 1BR apt goods there, and in just under three hours we were all loaded into two small units. Having used other local storage facilities with a range of experiences, we are pleased so far with both the cost and the seemingly good conditions and access of BSS. Will update as necessary, but this facility has convenient access to both reaching the property and on grounds and the staff is helpful and friendly. Whether this is my last foray into storage use or not, so far, so good. read more

I had a terrible experience at Brookhaven Storage. I asked to see a storage unit before renting, and the woman working there told me she "didn't feel comfortable" letting me look at the units and then asked me to leave. I was shocked and felt that I was being treated unfairly and discriminated against. I contacted corporate to report what happened, but no one ever returned my call or followed up with my complaint. The lack of concern from management was just as disappointing as my experience at the facility. Based on how I was treated and the complete lack of response from corporate, I would not recommend renting here. read more

It was little over a year and a half ago that in my first review of Brookhaven Self Storage that I said: "If I ever need some temporary storage again, I'll head back to BSS!" Well, I am keeping my word and using BSS again for my storage needs. I'm in the market to sale my house and need a place to store my junk while we stage the house for sale and after giving it some thought I remembered Brookhaven Self Storage then drove right over to rent a nice 10'x10' foot storage locker. As in my previous review I still feel very safe storing my stuff here with the secure gates, monitored cameras, and on-site management. And I'm looking forward to using their free moving truck next Saturday to get everything there. read more

The manager racially profiled me and constantly stated she'd call the police for trespassing even though I have been a paying customer for 2+ years and visited the facility during "open" hours to retrieve my belonging before the 9pm cut off time. read more

Manager has always been very helpful. The facility is no messier or cleaner than other local storage facilities. They do offer different sizes of storage facilities-not just small metal boxes like many storage companies. read more

Customer service and knowledge of your business is crucial. Maybe the acting manager on duty was having a bad day or something, but her customer service skills were lacking in every way possible including lack of eye contact. The business does not have active rate cards of their current monthly prices and when my friend and I inquired about why this was we were told that it fluctuates with the market. So I asked about different sizes and different prices and was told that she didn't know. How can you not know and you're working here everyday. She seemed as if she did not like her job nor want to be there. My friend ended up renting at Buford Highway mini storage and is very very pleased with their customer service as well as their prices. read more

I was a HUGE fan of Brookhaven Storage when the former owners Larry and Jo ran the facility. They exceeded my expectations regularly and provided excellent customer service. Since there are new owners, I had to come in contact with them for the first time about a month or so when my storage unit was full of bugs. Larry and Jo would just spray regularly before. So when I went in to ask about it I was given a ton of attitude by the older blond woman. She said they weren't responsible and if they sprayed I had to sweep. Ok that was fine with me, but then she went on to tell me that my things should be in a climate control unit. When I asked about it she told me that I should read my contract and that I should know more about my space. I tried to ask questions because the belongings in there are from my loved one who passed away and obviously I want them to be taken care of and bug infested. She continued to give me attitude and asked why I wouldn't have those belongings in climate control to begin with. I don't know maybe because my father had just passed away suddenly and needed a place for his belongings, and that wasn't on the forefront of my mind. Instead of trying to assist me she gave me attitude. I asked the Manager who was standing there if this was normal and he says (and I quote) " I don't see a problem with it". I am appalled by the new Management and am planning on making other arrangements for my belongings. read more

Terrible customer service. We rented a storage unit and it was such an odd shape nothing fit. They did not tell us we were not renting a square, and since we moved the items in on a Sunday, there was nothing we could do. They refuse to discount appropriately and we can not hire someone again to move the items to another unit. Beware read more

beware of this place terrible customer service will charge you and never refund any owed money or reimbursments, once they get your credit card and get your payment no one will ever respond or cancel the contracts. reserved a unit by phone as they said covid closed their office , took my credit card called back within an hour to cancel as movers did not need it..never used the unit never went to it.. but never received a refund and continued to get invoices for payments after months of contacting and being told only the owner can refund and that was a dead end as either that person docent exist or never returns calls .. i went to them because they bill themselves as a family business.. better go with a company with a policy as evidently this "family" are a bunch of grifters and crooks who take advantage of people in the middle of the stress of moving.. read more

Worst place ever!!!!! Store my mothers personal belongings and furniture there after she passes away. A lot of sentimental value and expensive antiques/rugs. I went tp pick all of it up and there was water damage to a bunch of stuff. Management said they had the roof replaced/repaired 8 months prios and it was leaking. Management said not to worry, they would reimburse me. I had professional appraisals done and submitted them. They now will not respond. Dozens of calls and emails. I am now going to place a lawsuit against them. read more

I rented a boat storage space and everything was great until I cancelled and they continued to bill for 4 months straight I called every month and got the run around.Finally I got amex involved and had to block the charges . I am still fighting to get my money back that they had over charged read more

I wish I looked at Google Reviews and here before I rented a unit at this facility. I had dozen of boxes destroyed by water. Was given the name of the owner Bill Donovan and his email (FYI the email Doesn't work) He never responded. Insurance? Never heard about it. They wouldn't even give me a refund for the months I had my stuff there. Told me it was my responsibility to check and make sure there were no leaks! Awful place, awful people. read more
