Well, I am keeping my word and using BSS again for my storage needs. I'm in the market to sale my house and need a place to store my junk while we stage the house for sale and after giving it some thought I remembered Brookhaven Self Storage then drove right over to rent a nice 10'x10' foot storage locker. As in my previous review I still feel very safe storing my stuff here with the secure gates, monitored cameras, and on-site management. And I'm looking forward to using their free moving truck next Saturday to get everything there.

Tonight, I parked where they usually do propane, and a woman was standing by the station. As soon as I opened my door, she told me they close propane at 7 PM. I looked at my phone--it was 6:52 PM--and mentioned the time. She just looked at me without saying anything. Frustrated, I shut my door and called customer service. While I was on the phone, a man (I believe his name was Lamar) came up to my door and said he could help me. I've seen him maybe two or three times before, and every time, he's been super helpful and nice. Tonight, he gave me advice to try to come at least 15 minutes before 7 PM, which I'll do my best to follow. But what stood out to me was when he said, "If you can't, I still got you." That level of customer service and support really makes a difference. Lamar absolutely deserves stars! There are also two other employees I see regularly. The tall man who usually handles propane started off giving me a bit of a standoffish vibe when I first came here, but over time, he warmed up. Now, he's nice to me, and I don't feel that tension anymore. I'd give him . The woman I interacted with tonight--I don't deal with her much aside from paying at the register. My interactions with her have been neutral, so I'd give her . The reason I'm leaving this review is because I do business here often, and it's important to feel welcomed, appreciated, and comfortable. Tonight, Lamar made me feel all of that, and I wanted to recognize his effort. Overall, I'm giving this location stars because Lamar and the other good employees deserve the recognition, but there's still room for improvement.

Customer service, cleanliness, pest control and maintenance are severely lacking at this location!…read more 1. Employees are rarely physically in the onsite office. 2. Phone calls are not answered, and no one calls back to respond to phone messages. 3. Common areas, such as indoor hallways and anywhere outside, are not cleaned or swept. 4. This location has either a mouse or rat problem, evidenced by me finding droppings and urine on the top parts of my belongings that are stored in my unit. It's a good thing that I sealed everything in large plastic bags so that I could easily see if any critters had chewed through the plastic to get into my belongings. Fortunately, they hadn't. 5. Even though their website states that this location is climate controlled, it is definitely not climate controlled. As a result of not having any working air conditioning, it feels humid inside and smells mildewy (like being in a basement). 6. Because rental rates go up every few months, renting here is not a good value. I'll be moving my stuff out of this Public Storage location within the next month.

By the time we were done emptying and cleaning the unit we forgot to get our deposit back. The staff went out of their way to make sure we got our deposit back. They mailed it back to us. We very much appreciate them and their customer service.
