Phone calls are not answered, and no one calls back to respond to phone messages. 3. Common areas, such as indoor hallways and anywhere outside, are not cleaned or swept. 4. This location has either a mouse or rat problem, evidenced by me finding droppings and urine on the top parts of my belongings that are stored in my unit. It's a good thing that I sealed everything in large plastic bags so that I could easily see if any critters had chewed through the plastic to get into my belongings. Fortunately, they hadn't. 5. Even though their website states that this location is climate controlled, it is definitely not climate controlled. As a result of not having any working air conditioning, it feels humid inside and smells mildewy (like being in a basement). 6. Because rental rates go up every few months, renting here is not a good value. I'll be moving my stuff out of this Public Storage location within the next month.

From here to Charlottesville, Charleston and DC, we've covered a lot of ground, I tell you. Our most recent foray into storage unit rental is at Brookhaven Self Storage. Neat, clean, and with the slightly more expensive though still reasonable for a small unit at $89/month for climate controlled pick, is this neighborhood option. Packed up all my stuff and used UHaul (btw, unlimited time/day for $29 plus $0.99/mile plus gas - definitely about the cheapest moving option around if you're willing to do it yourself) to get my 1BR apt goods there, and in just under three hours we were all loaded into two small units. Having used other local storage facilities with a range of experiences, we are pleased so far with both the cost and the seemingly good conditions and access of BSS. Will update as necessary, but this facility has convenient access to both reaching the property and on grounds and the staff is helpful and friendly. Whether this is my last foray into storage use or not, so far, so good.

I was shocked and felt that I was being treated unfairly and discriminated against. I contacted corporate to report what happened, but no one ever returned my call or followed up with my complaint. The lack of concern from management was just as disappointing as my experience at the facility. Based on how I was treated and the complete lack of response from corporate, I would not recommend renting here.

The management team is always friendly and I am sad to be leaving. I never had any issues, but I am moving out of town. I hope I can find a storage close to me as great as Guardian has been all of these years!
