I just wouldn't if I were you. I went here for about a year. Twice I had a series of very expensive dental appointments for which I paid out of pocket and then had tremendous difficulty getting reimbursed. The pattern was the same both times. I would receive notice from my insurance company that a claim had been paid. Then, allowing for time for the check to arrive in the mail, I would inquire about reimbursement. I was told it had not arrived. So I would inquire again the following week or two and so on until 4-6 weeks had elapsed. I would check periodically with the insurance company to make sure I was understanding correctly. This discrepancy in the facts represented by the insurance company versus their records generated no curiosity whatsoever in the accounting staff (Heidi.) I didn't seem to be able to speak directly to her as she always seemed to be unavailable when I asked. At one point I asked for a 3-way conversation between myself, the office staff and the insurance company. This seemed like the obvious, logical and perhaps only way to resolve the conundrum. But I was told, "We don't do that." From the perspective of a patient who has charged over $5000 on a credit card for dental care, has a payment coming due, the reimbursement seems to be in permanent limbo and there is no apparent effort being made to resolve the matter. The situation and attitude seemed to me to be that they didn't care that I was caught in the middle of a situation where the facts are in dispute and that I'll get a check when they're good and ready. I was just supposed to take their word for it in spite of repeated evidence to the contrary. I was not allowed to speak to the decision-makers directly. The poor receptionist had to bear the brunt of it all and she got quite upset, complaining until I was banned from the office. This though I never raised my voice or insulted anyone. I'm not sure how long it is ethical or legal to hold onto someone's money in such situations. Go to a dentist where they bill the insurance companies directly. This office is way out of touch with their patients if they think they all have the luxury of waiting who-knows-how-long to be reimbursed. They don't want anyone to be angry or upset in their office, yet they fail to perceive how their incompetence and obfuscation is the source of the trouble. Anyway, if someone is angry about how they are being treated, wouldn't you want to know and know why? Not these folks, apparently. They look at this situation as "I'm glad that angry guy is not coming back to our office" instead of "too bad we dropped the ball on reimbursements and needlessly alienated a patient." I found the dentist to be unfriendly and NOT kind at all. I expressed my concern about the staff not wearing their masks and NOT being vaccinated. It's clear that the dentist is NOT concerned about anyone but himself. I will look to some other provider for the service that was not found at Dr. Harbolt's office. read more

Started with an overpriced exam that included an unnecessary 158-dollar 360-degree x-ray that Harbolt claims is "necessary to comply with the minimum standard of care in Oregon" although none of the other dozens of exams I have had has ever needed one. Then he required that I go over 100 miles away for a $1700 root canal that does not include his overpriced crown to get a tooth fixed that is neither loose nor in pain. Bottom line is that this office is a bunch of crooks that upsell and lie to you to steal your money. Run from this office or your will regret it. read more

I saw Dr. Harbolt for a chipped tooth and he performed work and put a permanent crown on. It was never acceptable. It hurt very bad and upon a second visit I was told to use fluoride mouthwash and sensitivity toothpaste. Dr. Harbolt claims that his work looks great and the procedure was a success. He cares nothing about my pain or discomfort and I feel as if he was offended that I questioned his work. He refuses to see me again to get it resolved and I am forced to find a new dentist and pay to get it fixed again. Poor quality dentistry, self-important attitude, and little care for patient satisfaction. I do not recommend Dr. Harbolt. read more

After decades of misery with my teeth, I decided to end the problem permanently. I'm in need of implants. I want the whole thing done. Upper, and lower. My simple two questions, and simple objective were interrupted twice when attempting to ask. I'm sitting here trying to drop his next BMW payment to him in its entirety, yet doc just ain't havin it. I even brought the cash. But hey....Doc can sure answer a question about Janis Joplin's song that was playing in the background, that was covered by another singer, and could probably tell me who produced the album, what year, and who the no-named female tambourine player was in the background that recorded it. Yeah, I threw that out there just to see if you were paying attention. I then asked you about the teeth thing again...Primary question launched? Nope. Crickets, and a queue card blow off return answer. Condescension in the workplace does not bode well with new patients. You commented brilliantly that implants require much more care than what I could provide for my current situation, yet you failed to answer my question again. Yes, my teeth are AFU. I partially explained to you the reason why, and I'm lucky to be alive. They're dead. I'm not. Moving forward with the secondary question....Nah. Blown off again, with another queue card answer. I'll give it to your new dental assistant you just hired. She at least TRIED to answer my question, when you damn near ran out of the room and down the hall after you got that last root out. Good choice there, doc. Whisky Tango Foxtrot, OVER? Anytime I have ever had patient, I have always sat down with them and explained what procedure/s I'm doing, what it entails, and if they had any questions or concerns I could answer for them. Afterward, I would always do a followup with them personally, if my HCP/PCP wasn't available. I'm going elsewhere. Sorry for the horrid review, but you get what you shovel. Before I went in for cleaning and x-rays and such, I called because I have not yet insured myself after retirement. I called to check the price. Carolyn helped me so much; She told me there was a new patient special of $99. Thank you Carolyn, because it saved a cancellation. I didn't want to pay the regular $360. I consider the retail price excessive, especially on the southern Oregon coast. Caroline saving me, so to speak, is worth five stars. But the staff are friendlier than my dentist. He doesn't use my name, he is not assertive shaking my hand or any other type of greetings, and comes and goes without a verbal prompt to his patients. His bedside manner could improve. Hence the reason my review earns the Group four stars vs five. Also, I say thank you to him he does not reply with a you're welcome or think you back for being one of his patients--for helping give him a comfortable lifestyle. read more

Jackie at Brookings Dental Group was extremely rude, with a judgmental tone on the phone. I felt as though I was being blamed for my problem, the entire time and she wanted to discipline me. Very unprofessional. If it wasn't for my awesome dentist I would choose a different business to go to. Very annoyed. read more

I visited this dental group today as I received a coupon in the mail for a discounted cleaning, exam and X-rays. This was my first positive dental experience after many many years of dental anxiety caused from a childhood dental visit. The entire staff of this office are just so nice and caring. The atmosphere is relaxed and happy! Yvette, the dental hygienist, is just the best! Her chairside manner was so professional and gentle. She actually made me relax during my visit.
