I get this new gal, who pushes the pocket measurement tool so far down it was painful and she tried to push periodontal cleaning on me, which would cost an additional $570 and weeks prior to Christmas. I told her maybe next time, so she refuses to give me my scheduled cleaning and somehow convinced the dentist I needed periodontal cleaning, and in a nice way, told me it's either get this expensive cleaning or leave. So, i left. I found another dentist in town, got my pockets measured and everything was fine, back to normal. Got my cleaning with the new dentist/hygienist and will not recommend Dr. Christiansen or his latest hygienist to anyone. My husband and I now go elsewhere. This is a well known scam. Pushes the probe diwn to achieve a higher number for paradentol excuse to charge more. And I was blown away Dr. Christiansen went along with her scam. I had been going to him firv6 years or so, as my whole family, but not anymore. ​

Twice I had a series of very expensive dental appointments for which I paid out of pocket and then had tremendous difficulty getting reimbursed. The pattern was the same both times. I would receive notice from my insurance company that a claim had been paid. Then, allowing for time for the check to arrive in the mail, I would inquire about reimbursement. I was told it had not arrived. So I would inquire again the following week or two and so on until 4-6 weeks had elapsed. I would check periodically with the insurance company to make sure I was understanding correctly. This discrepancy in the facts represented by the insurance company versus their records generated no curiosity whatsoever in the accounting staff (Heidi.) I didn't seem to be able to speak directly to her as she always seemed to be unavailable when I asked. At one point I asked for a 3-way conversation between myself, the office staff and the insurance company. This seemed like the obvious, logical and perhaps only way to resolve the conundrum. But I was told, "We don't do that." From the perspective of a patient who has charged over $5000 on a credit card for dental care, has a payment coming due, the reimbursement seems to be in permanent limbo and there is no apparent effort being made to resolve the matter. The situation and attitude seemed to me to be that they didn't care that I was caught in the middle of a situation where the facts are in dispute and that I'll get a check when they're good and ready. I was just supposed to take their word for it in spite of repeated evidence to the contrary. I was not allowed to speak to the decision-makers directly. The poor receptionist had to bear the brunt of it all and she got quite upset, complaining until I was banned from the office. This though I never raised my voice or insulted anyone. I'm not sure how long it is ethical or legal to hold onto someone's money in such situations. Go to a dentist where they bill the insurance companies directly. This office is way out of touch with their patients if they think they all have the luxury of waiting who-knows-how-long to be reimbursed. They don't want anyone to be angry or upset in their office, yet they fail to perceive how their incompetence and obfuscation is the source of the trouble. Anyway, if someone is angry about how they are being treated, wouldn't you want to know and know why? Not these folks, apparently. They look at this situation as "I'm glad that angry guy is not coming back to our office" instead of "too bad we dropped the ball on reimbursements and needlessly alienated a patient." Not worth dealing with them.

Thanks to the AMAZING staff at Advantage Dental in Brookings Oregon, they were able to get my son…read morein, AND fix his teeth in less than 24hrs from his bike incident which broke/chipped​ BOTH of his permanent front teeth. Not only did all the staff do an amazing job, the Dentist was so gentle and kind that my son fell asleep during the procedure (no calming medications were given to him, he only had numbing shots, all natural) which tells this momma that my child was in the care of a wonderful and caring Dentist, because this child of mine does not do well with going to the dentist at all, and he has a melt down. We all know, going to the dentist is scary, even for us adults. So, THANK YOU to Emily (Front office), Tiffany (Dental Assistant), and the Dentist Dr. Johnson. I love that they were able to show me what they would be doing, from the 3D x-rays to the making of my crowns. I love they were concerned for my comfort and that I was aware and comfortable with what they were going to do, BEFORE they did anything. The final stage was sending me home with excellent verbal instructions (repeated to me at least 3 times so I would remember) of what to do for sore gums, types of food to eat and avoid for the next few days, and if I needed an adjustment to call right away. I can honestly say my gums around the the crowns were tender, but not sore and I am so very pleased with the end results! It made me a little sad to think, I'd only see these wonderful people only 2 times a year. For me that is a first. Love my forever dentist and staff!

Well I could not have been more pleased with this office, the staff and the doctor. We were greeted promptly and offered a tour. As a new patient, my daughter was given a welcome gift bag. The atmosphere was clean, modern and yet cozy. It really was a fantastic experience. Quick and efficient care, very thorough. We scheduled our next appointment already.

This was medically unnecessary, traumatic to my son (as he didn't know what was happening), and possibly fraudulent. My son was shaken by the experience. When confronted with the bill, they refused to budge on the charge as "it was a procedure that was performed". Avoid this dentist office if you care about your children or your money.

Their billing department last time said they were transferring things to a new system and made a mistake. What is the excuse now? I don't have time for their errors. At each appointment he made a recommendation to me and told me where to go to save money, a great deal of money from which he could have easily profited. Today, I thought I was getting an invasive costly procedure, once again, Dr. said to my surprise, nope...no costly invasive procedure and a recommendation that I get something outside of his office, instead of profiting from me. I would recommend Dr. Goode for dental care in Brookings. He's a straight up, no nonsense, honest, quiet and polite kind of person.
