I've only heard horror stories from this place for YEARS, so when it came down to actually going, I had my guard up. All I can say is this was my general experience: (Not all the time! But most!) -Dirty cars -Staff smoking or abruptly stopping lesson TO SMOKE (Yes it happened three times to me!) -Extremely rude couple of staff members -No curriculum or lessons taught during the "lessons" -Lady on the phone to call and make appointments was always nice and patient, helped me a ton in person as well -Inappropriate comments made to female (specifically young) drivers twice -Slow appointment service, which is expected! It's a busy company, no complaints on that but be ready! -Driving test was straight forward and simple, actually had fun -Very very VERY odd times for driving. You have a 2:30 appointment? It'll start at 2:15 or 2:45 with or WITHOUT you. Oh it's an hour long? It'll either end 30 minutes too early or 30 overtime. I have a flexible schedule so I wasn't too thrown off, and I get navigating traffic can be super difficult, but again just be ready! -Quiet or difficult to understand staff members -Angry staff members, I am a firm believer teens and just people in general need to get used to someone being harsh on them, but when I witnessed a teenage girl getting yelled at because she didn't understand the instructor, her hand was shaking on the wheel, was toltold to "stop driving!" Because she's a "stupid girl!" Is something I cannot look past. I mean wtf man? -No patience for mistakes, people should be ready to drive in lessons, but mistakes happen. Yes it's scary because it's on the road, but simple SMALL mistakes should not warrant a full on tantrum from staff -Staff that will sit in silence the ENTIRE lessons only occasionally whispering "left. right. pull over. back up." Overall. There could be worse. But for the sake of the overwhelming amount of young kids going here, there HAS to be some change. Staff who were younger seemed to be a lot more fun, calm, insightful and patient. Older staff was a hit or miss. I actually had a lot of fun with Dimitry (however you spell it)

I'm not trying to criticize his technique as a whole, but I do want others to have a clear sense of what to expect. Booking a session was quick and easy, and I was able to get an appointment the very next day, which I really appreciated. I understand that driving instructors sometimes need to be curt and direct for safety reasons. However, I think the type of feedback also needs to match the situation and the student's experience level. For me, the lesson felt like an hour of being yelled at. I was constantly aware that I was doing something wrong, but not always what I had done wrong or how to fix it. My impression was that Lucien overestimated my prior driving experience. This could likely have been resolved by taking a few moments to pause, talk through what we were about to do, and ask whether I had done it before. When I asked questions, Lucien was willing to demonstrate, but many of his instructions weren't clear to me, and his tone made me feel as though I was being scolded, even if that wasn't his intention. If I made the same mistake multiple times, that suggested I didn't understand something, not that I wasn't trying. Instead, he seemed frustrated that I didn't get it immediately and would tell me I was doing it wrong without giving concrete, descriptive feedback about how to correct it. For example, when I was practicing turning, he would yell that I was doing it wrong and grab the wheel, which didn't help me understand what I needed to change. It would have been far more helpful to pull over, explain the steps clearly, and then practice on a quiet street where I could try again safely and independently. There were also times when I misunderstood his instructions (for instance, going into the leftmost lane instead of going to the leftmost lane that eventually turns right). His immediate response was to yell that I hadn't listened, rather than clarify what I had misunderstood. This approach felt infantilizing and made me upset and distracted, which wasn't conducive to learning. Pedagogically, it also didn't make much sense to me. I wasn't paying $70 an hour to ignore instructions; if I wasn't following them correctly, it meant something about the instructions wasn't clear. A more helpful response would have been to ask what part I had misunderstood and adjust the explanation so I could succeed next time. Overall, Lucien may be a good fit for students who thrive under very direct and high-pressure instruction, are very good at articulating the specific skills that they already have and are hoping to gain, and are better at interpreting his feedback. For others, his style may be stressful and difficult to learn from.

But since…read moreit's been so long ago, and I wasn't really ready to drive in a manual in the real world and I was always dreaming of getting a manual transmission car. I was nervous, went out for test driving several manual cars, got embarrassed how bad my manual driving skill was, stalled the test drive car 2 times, and I decided to take some serious training to fresh up my memories and also learn some new useful skills of driving a manual. George is welcoming and very helpful. What he taught me, the 'pushing the clutch in a bit' technique with coordination of the gas pedal, is extremely useful. Instead of 'only let the clutch off slowly' to launch, I launched way more efficiently than I did when I was getting my license. So far I've already got 3 lessons in total. I'm gonna get the full 6 courses in the next following weeks. George told me that the clutch of STI is pretty stiff, so if you can drive the STI well that probably means you can drive any other manual cars even more comfortably. I can tell George truly cares about his students and I recommend this to anyone that wants to learn how to drive a manual transmission.

I waited for around 45 minutes in the dark parking lot, the office was closed, although it showed open on the website. I kept calling their number, but no one picked up. I left 4 voice mails also, called in earlier in the day to confirm the appointment as well and left a voicemail then also. No one cared to call me back. And no one showed up on the site for the classes well past 8. Such a terrible experience. I hope no one goes through this ordeal.
