Excellent experience (1st time) with Brookline Foreign Motors on the airmatic front strut replacement on my Mercedes E55. Initially, I dealt with Niso on the quote. Went by on Friday and he put the car up on the lift and had the mechanics look at the car at no charge. Then he quoted a reasonable rate for the labor and alignment. I told him I'd bring the car by on Monday, late morning. He said he wouldn't be in on Monday, but that Fred would take care of me. Separately, I had bought a remanufactured strut from Arnott which arrived by FedEx ground from their facility in FL on Sat. Perfect. Today (Monday) I dropped the car off with Fred and went to lunch in Brookline Village (nice new Thai restaurant). About 90 mins later they called and said the car was ready. Been driving it since, and seems to be driving great. Fred was very friendly and responsive. I'm not sure of the business relationship between those two guys - neither do the mechanical work - but they both seem very knowledgeable and seem to have a lot of industry knowledge. They also seem honest, which is essential, because most ppl like me have no idea what's wrong and what's happening w their car. Now that my car is out of warranty, I've been looking for a repair shop I can trust for repairs (they are also launching a body shop too, but hopefully I won't need that...). I think I've found a home. Thanks guys...hope I don't see you for a while, but I'll definitely be back, at least for routine maintenance (hopefully not much else). read more

I had several totally separate issues that needed to be addressed (a broken bumper, hail damage and brake repairs) and they got everything done incredibly fast without sacrificing on quality - it came out great. I have been turned off at first glance by the luxury cars visible in the shop - as I cannot afford luxury prices. But prices here are fair and in line with the general local market. There has been too few reviews for such a gem in mostly residential Brookline Village. For that and other reasons, I am compelled to write a new one now. They don't take appointments abut work on a first come, first served basis. That is actually a good thing for me because it is located so close to my home that I can show up even before it opens at 8 AM if I suddenly remember my car needs service work. So I brought my Toyota Avalon to this shop and was met by the congenial manager, Niso. I told him about several things I wanted done on my vehicle and I promptly got a cost estimate and then I left for work. Just before closing I got a phone call that my vehicle is ready. It's all very professional and efficient, It felt just like I was at one of those big name dealerships. BUT, THE PRICE. The charges for the services at Brookline Foreign Motors is so much more affordable. Niso the manager tells me that they can do just about any repair you need for your vehicle, so I highly recommend giving this business a try. read more

Excellent automotive diagnosis and repair for a fair price. I had a noise coming from my Sienna's chassis and took it to several local mechanics who were unable to find the source. I was planning on taking my family on a long car trip and didn't feel the car was safe. I took it Brookline Foreign Motors and they found that the car had a broken rear axle. I had a very easy and pleasant experience getting my car fixed here. Fred was very nice and helped me through the process of getting my car fixed. I didn't really know what I was doing as I was getting my car fixed from a car accident that wasn't my fault, but Fred made sure that I knew what was going to happen, how it was going happen, when it was going to happen. He was also kind enough to call Enterprise to come and pick me up to get my rental car. When finished 12 days later, the car had been thoroughly (and I do mean, thoroughly) cleaned inside and out. I recently brought my 99 Saab to Brookline Foreign Motors for repair and I am extremely happy with their work and level of service. My car had a check engine light on and was shaking badly. It needed some fairly expensive work (because it's a Saab) but all the prices Niso quoted were more than fair, he even sent me a pdf summarizing all the charges which allowed me to compare the cost of parts and confirm that I was not being over charged. He worked with my budget and made sure all the necessary repairs were being done. It's been about 3 weeks since I picked up my car and it still runs great. I found them to be honest, transparent, reliable, and they communicated well with me. Niso kept me informed of the price at all times so I wouldn't have any surprises at the end. I had the worst experience and would not recommend this place for body work. I initially went there to get my bumper fixed. After they painted it i thought it looked fine but then i found dirt under the paint so I brought it back to get redone. Not only did i have to bring it back once but THREE times. Each time there was something wrong with the paint job. More bubbles, more dirt under the paint. just about everything. And the fact that they did not see it shows me that they do not care about the quality of the work they do. After returning a third time to show them the paint job was crap all the guy could say to me is "that's the best we can do." I don't know how you can stay in business if you do that kind of work. I took it to another body shop and they noticed the bad paint job right away without me telling them anything about it! He said they did not buff it and the paint did not match. I was trying to tell them that as well and they gave me every excuse in the book. AWFUL SERVICE. I will never go there for paint or body work. JUST PLAIN AWFUL. read more

I was frantically trying to find somewhere to drop it off before the weekend to be fixed, and Fred allowed me to drop it off right as they were closing at 5. He gave me his cell phone number and said I could contact him at any time for updates. TOTALLY DISHONEST!! Do not go here....its clear that Frederick the owner, has written his own glowing review as he is now trying to now sell used cars. I warn not to be charmed by his warm attentive service. He does give that while sneakily finding more things to fix with a smile. I left with a long check list of things that he suggested I repair and my car has 30,000 miles. I went to another shop in the neighborhood and the guy laughed and said he had heard about this place - almost all of the things including an "oil leak" were bogus. Yes, be charmed by Frederick but know that he is shwarmy and dishonest. I was so dissapointed because he seems so nice but I learned a lesson by having my car worked on once, then leaving with a laundry list of items not needed. Shame on you Frederick! read more

Last year I was about to buy a car from Brookline Foreign Motors - legitimately had given him the money and was signing the paperwork - when one of his mechanics who were checking the car one last time came in and asked to speak to him. I wasn't part of this conversation, but apparently he had just found a serious problem deep within the engine that probably wouldn't have started to become an issue for me for a few months. Go to Brookline Foreign Motors. I bashed in my side view mirror, and realized how very necessary that one little mirror is. I called several places about prices, and I couldn't believe how much some places wanted for the repair. I called the Toyota Dealer in Boston where I purchased the car, and they told me I would have to bring the car to their collision shop in Braintree for them to determine what mirror to order. Unreal. I called Brookline Foreign Motors and the owner couldn't have been more helpful or pleasant. He quoted me a price and offered me several options to keep the costs down (none of the other places I called did that.) I drove over on a Friday afternoon for him to verify what I needed. We planned to have the mirror installed the following Wednesday. I called him Tuesday morning and asked if there was any way I could have the mirror put on that afternoon. He sent someone over to Watertown to expedite the process and it was ready for installation by mid afternoon on Tuesday. He did this for no extra cost. He did it just to accommodate me. While it was being installed, I chatted with him - nicest guy ever. They even sell used cars there, too. And by the way, the mirror was installed in about 10 minutes, it looks great, it was painted and perfectly matches the color on my 7 year cold car, and I was on my way. I am so very appreciative of the wonderful service I received. I hope I don't smash my car up anymore - but if I did, I wouldn't bother to call anyone else. What a breath of fresh air to deal with an honest, reliable repair shop that values its customer and provides outstanding service. Five Big Stars --- I would give them more if I could!! They diagnosed a problem they couldn't fix, and readily referred us to the Mercedes dealership to remedy that issue. Treating customers with honesty, fairness, competency and setting realistic expectations is a great way to keep them coming back.
