    Bagel with cream cheese
    Abby F.

Decided to try this place after my go to (Eli's) sadly closed & got taken over by Bagel Nook. (Hate when instagramableness beats quality & authenticity in the business game.) Well anyway I tried this place because it was close by & seemed to be a classic deli, which I trusted for bagels. The bagels are pretty good: large, they don't skimp on the cream cheese, & they're a great price!! They also have a few pastries, sandwiches, soup, snacks, & a variety of drinks. I def want to try a sandwich from them one day. There's always customers inside & the 2 people who work the counter (I think they might be the owners?) are genuinely kind & I always see them making conversation with their patrons. Love when a business tries to build a community. There's also a cute seating area outside. The only thing is that they seem to run out of bagels quickly, even on weekdays. I've been there twice now around noon & they didn't have a regular everything bagel (which is fine I just go for a whole wheat everything) but that's something to note... Make sure you get there early, sorry to all the not morning people! I think this will be my new go-to bagel spot, even though I'll miss my Jewish bagels New York bagels will fill the whole in my heart.

Many years ago at a deli in Old Bridge, I had my first sausage, egg, and cheese. It was made by a large Asian guy and it was phenomenal! Since then every SEC I get is compared to the one made by my Asian friend. In the last few years the quality of the SECs in Central NJ has gone down significantly. Brooklyn bagels is the perfect example of this. The store itself was clean and there were plenty of bagels waiting to be purchased at 8 am on a Tuesday. I was pretty excited because I don't get my favorite breakfast very often anymore. The sandwich was terribly disappointing. 2 tiny eggs and a thin slice of sausage. It tasted ok but wasn't satisfying. The best transaction is when the consumer and seller are satisfied, that's value. There was no value in my meal. $4.50 for a disappointing sandwich. I honestly don't understand it. For that price you'd think you'd get a decent sandwich. You don't. To top it off, I got a cup of coffee to wash it down. $2.50 for a medium coffee. Again, that would be ok if it was a really good cup....it wasn't. It was just an average cup. There you have it. $7 for a mediocre sandwich and coffee that was just ok. For that price you might as well just go to Terrace up the street. Such a shame.

Fantastic bagels and crumb cake. Always get the everything with scallion , or the fruity pebbles with cream cheese

We came at 11am on a Sunday expecting it to be very busy based on the yelp scores. It was not busy and they had barely any bagel selection. They had all these options on paper but none actually made. It was raining outside so I am not sure if they accounted for it being a slow day. It also is a weird location off of main street. Just follow the signs on the door and you will find it. Taking a look at the cream cheeses it looks like they have some fun ones. I asked for oreo birthday cake cream cheese from the menu and after ordering I watched as they made an impromptu concoction on the spot. They literally took a couple oreo's from the box and combined it with plain cc. It wasnt too bad. The strawberry cream cheese is also well made and tastes like they make it fresh. However, at a bagel place it comes down to the bagel....They have a chewy texture almost to the point where they are hard to cut down the middle. The outside is kind of waxy. I see what they are trying to do but I don't think it is the best bagel I have had. We also picked up some fresh bagel chips which are my personal fav. Always a solid choice. If I am judging on the full experience this place falls in the 2.5 star range. Ultimately, the bagel missed the mark and that is the reason for the 2 star rating. They are giving it their best shot which I respect so I would suggest trying and making judgement of you own.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast, everything bagel with bacon egg and cheese with ketchup! Fresh and delicious! Will definitely visit again when we're in town again.

You know they are warm and fresh when you see the foggy plastic!

First of all the service here is amazing. I'm not one of those guys who goes to a place 1 time and then writes a review. I've been going here for almost a year now and every time I go, EVERY TIME I go the service is above par 10 star quality. They go out of their way to make their customers happy. Not just me. Every single customer gets treated with amazing customer service. The bagels are AMAZING! I highly recommend you get their before they sell out, which they usually do by noon. Also get the pork roll egg and cheese on a bagel. You will thank me before you even take your first bite! Yesterday afternoon (6/14/2016) I placed an order for the office. By the next morning at 8:15 A.M. I went to Brooklyn Bagels and they had my order already ready and packaged beautifully. Each bagel was pre cut and sliced and put in the catering platter better than I could have ever expected. Take a look at these photos! Brooklyn Bagels you guys are friendly, make the best bagles around, fair prices, and I just found out you deliver too! You have a lifetime customer right here! Thanks again, -Chris

Spoiler Alert: This place may say Brooklyn Bagels but it has no relation to the Brooklyn Bagel establishments you will find in NYC. Temper your expectations. They did not open up a new one in Freehold NJ. It's too bad because the staff here was nice enough but their bagels just didn't cut it. The bagel was warm but some of it was chewy and some of it was hard. This was a Jekyll and Hyde bagel all rolled into one. You just don't know which side you are going to get. If there was a kitchen, I didn't see it. The bagels tasted like they get them delivered here and aren't made on the premises. Sure enough, on their website they list two different locations with two different names. There is a bathroom here and seating is a little limited with a few small tables inside and out front. I found it odd that the more well known Brooklyn Bagels can be found in Astoria Queens but to have one in Freehold, NJ would be even more odd. My excitement dissolved when I quickly found out that this joint has nothing to do with the more famous one in NYC.

Aside from the extremely friendly service you always get, I had one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. If you haven't gone yet, go soon.

Good bagels and a friendly staff. Try the muffin bagels, the chocolate one in Bonkers. Also a decent sandwich menu for lunch.
