I come here quite often since I am a Fords local, but I fear I have given enough tries. Usually the sautéed spinach and garlic knots are my favorite. Today the garlic knots were hard as a rock and was served to me using bare hands. He even denied it when I watched him do it. The spinach had juices dripping out of the bag all down my leg as i walked and tasted like fire for some reason. Now I know lasagna is not a popular take out item, but thats what I was craving. Unfortunately, its cold lile ot just came out the fridge. I live across the street so there is no way it got cold that quickly. The sauce tastes like chef boyardee. The bread is extra so not really fair to complain about that, but why was it crumpled into a ball like a sheet of paper? If you want to eat here, stick to the pizza. read more

We used to eat their chicken, Alfredo and broccoli pizza 5 years ago. We were traveling in the area and we decided to try again. That pizza has the same flavor! Angelos pizza is a local pizzeria with lot of options besides your typical pizza. With the ongoing situation, dine in is closed. Their delivery service, at least for me, was quick and food was hot and fresh. My experience from this place so far has been positive. I've had their cheese pizza, chicken tenders, eggplant rollatini and a few other dishes. The chicken tenders are surprisingly good and the margherita pizza was decent. Recently, I ordered their gourmet grilled chicken pizza and it was extremely delicious. The flavor was oozing out of every bite and the pizza was huge and delicious. Everything about that gourmet pizza was on point and I'd recommend this to anyone. The pickup process is also relatively easy. They have a few chairs and tables open for people to occupy if you come in early for the pickup. There is a huge parking lot outside so no shortage of parking space. My overall experience has been good so far and I look forward to trying many more things from their menu. read more

The cheese was definitely not fresh as there is no cheese pull. However, the penne was al dente but as a whole, this is one of the worst pizzas I've had. I stopped by for lunch today. I needed a quick bite to eat because I was in between doctors' appointments. I randomly stopped here. It was just after 1:30pm or so. I thought it would be busy, but I guess it was after the lunch rush. There was only one other customer eating inside. I ordered an Italian Sub small for about $5.50. It wasn't small; it was huge. It was also a tasty sandwich. I ordered it with mayo and lettuce, tomato, and onion. The bread for the roll was tasty. It's that old school, Italian sub bread. Good stuff. Also, the place was low-key when I sat down at one of the tables and ate my sandwich. The place is clean. The guy who took my order was friendly, and also brought my food to me at the table. So the owner has changed 3 months ago. Recepie isn't much different but they cook the pizza really well now. Before for the last 2 years I've been coming it has been inconsistent, sometimes undercooked or overcooked. New management has hired some really good employees and they always have the pizza perfect. It's a really nice thin slice of pizza and it bakes really nice that is also very filling. I tried the tacos that they added. And wow. I heard a lot about them and I've never ordered anything new at a pizza place before. But over the few visits I've built up an appetite to try it. I had surgery so I wasn't really ready for solids. But once you try the tacos it's really hard to stop. Sadly, I had to since I was in a lot of pain from surgery and I just wasn't ready for solids. The chicken is tender and not too soft but not too firm. They offer two sauces on the side and some sides. It was good even without anything but the sauce really kicks it up to another level. Wow, I'm surprised with the all other negative reviews. Honestly, if I read it beforehand, I would have skipped out on this place. I'm glad I came here. The family was in the area and we're all hungry so decided to stop by for a quick slice. Long and behold, we decided to dine in and order pizzas, cluck u chicken wings and ham, salami subs. The food was pretty good. Wings are deliciously served and plates with cluck u chicken sauce and a side dip of blue cheese. The subs are generous portions. If you order large, it's comparable to about 14-15 inches, enough to feed 3 adults. Their pizza slices are expensive as someone else mentioned. The servers are very friendly. Worst plain slice I've ever had came from this joint. Burnt crust, zero tomato sauce, extremely hard & chewy. Tasted like they made it two days prior. My bf's white slices were so inedible that he threw them out. They gave us free garlic bread which wasn't great either. Their poor food quality definitely matches the aesthetic of the storefront at least so that's the only thing they have going for them. Angleo's Pizza is the best in the Area. I have been coming here since 1987-1988, and the plain slice is basically the same, even with 3 changes in ownership. The crust on the re-heated slices is the "perfect NY slice". Stiff and doesn't roll over when you fold it in half. If you want that on a plain pie order ask for it a bit well done. Like Portnoy on Bar Stool Pizza I have traveled locally to try all the pizza places in the Fords, Edison, Metuchen, Woodbridge areas including Brooklyn Pizza, Joey Bundtz, San Remo, and others. For the plain pie (with or without toppings) in the area, Angelo's is number #1 in my opinion. The other thing you notice at Angelo's. Is that THEY CLEAN THE OVEN. NO burned "crap" stuck to the bottom of your pizza! A lot of joints don't pay attention to small stuff like that. Go to Angelo's if your in the greater Fords Area. It's the best. read more

I had ordered from them since they were the closest pizza in the area. But the service was horrible; I had order a pizza by phone and the person on the line gave me the nastiest attitude . I quickly regretted calling them to get the pizza. It took them a long ass time to deliver my food. They told be they would be there in 30 minutes when reality if was an hour. Once the food arrived the pizza was room-temperature. It also contained so much oil on it when I picked it up a slice that oil would drip off it. Not only that but the cheese would start to fall off as well when I went to get a slice. The crust was hard as a rock. Would not recommend going here as their costumer was rude ass hell. I thought well you know the service might be bad but the food could be amazing so why not give them a chance. I've lived down the block from Angelo's Pizza my entire life and until fairly recently, I was quite a regular customer. Up until about 2005, Angelo's was owned and operated by an Italian man named Angelo (and his son who moved to back to Italy in the late 90s) and the establishment represented everything great about a Brooklyn style pizzeria. The slices were large, the sauce was great... he made a very good pizza albeit being the dirtiest man alive. If you didn't mind him coughing on your pizza from time to time, then you were in for a good slice any day of the week. Around 2005, Angelo went back to Italy and the place went to a new buyer. He has a large staff of about seven people and new faces come and go constantly. Because there is a new cook regularly, the pizza always changes and since 2005, it's only been getting worse tasting and more expensive. Not to mention that some of the staff is intolerable. There is one man of Spanish background who is very nice and makes a good pizza, then there is an Italian guy with a really thick accent and your inability to understanding him only comes second to his inability to understanding you... never bet on him getting your order correct. That said... why go here? I go here because I'm in walking distance and when I'm really lazy, I might stop in. However, if you have to get in a car, anyway... you're better off going to Villa Borghese, Villa Gennaro's, or Godfather's Pizza which are all pretty close to this place. read more
