Have come here when visiting over the last couple years. Food has gone down hill big time. Got the Veal Parmesan special and it was a mess. Looked like it was pre-cooked ..then microwaved and served over over-cooked Mushy linguine that tasted like spaghetti "O's". Sad used to be good. Reason for two stars was the craft beer. What impressed me as I walked up to Brooklyn's was their cleanliness. Then when I walked in it was their friendliness. Everyone was having a good time and there were nothing but smiles. After a long day at work I couldn't help but start smiling myself :) Next thing I know, the delicious aroma coming from the kitchen floored me and my mouth immediately started to water. I had a hard time deciding what to order. Everything looked so good. I've ordered the burger and fries which I highly recommend as well as the chicken sandwich and red beans and rice. I was also impressed with all their vegetarian options. The portabella mushroom sandwich was perfectly marinated in a savory balsamic glaze. Brooklyn's Down South successfully handled the rehearsal dinner (at their restaurant) and catered (the next day at a nearby venue to include food, bar, clean-up, etc.) for our son's wedding. Everyone enjoyed themselves, especially the food as well as signature cocktails. Service was great and the staff went above and beyond to ensure all events went smoothly. Brooklyn's the restaurant that used to be called Cleveland has not changed one single bit. The food still has absolutely no flavor and no appeal. The menu is identical the interior is the same except for the fact that they sealed up the kitchen with some brick takingaway the only thing that made this place somewhat interesting. I have attached a photo of what they call macaroni and cheese because it's embarrassing that this place doesn't even know what the macaroni noodle looks like. It was like penne with butter cheese on it and tasted horrible. Unfortunately it seems like we still have to leave Buda to go to a good restaurant. I don't know why Yelp allowed them to start a new account. The only one that misses out is the consumer because it's the same tired food in exactly the same restaurant despite a new name on the front of the building. read more

Boudin balls were slightly spicy and flavorful, oysters tasted fresh and not "fishy", lobster bisque was really good and I should've got a bowl instead of a cup. We started with Alligator Bites, nice spice and yummy remolade sauce for dipping. We both ordered the Snapper Ponchatrain, paired with broccoli and rice. It was so good. The fish had a seafood cream sauce that tasted great, perfectly cooked broccoli, and the house rice was complex with delicious flavor and texture. No room for dessert. read more

We were looking forward to dining at Brooklyn's but the experience was anything but great. The place was packed on a Friday night and it felt like a sauna. It was so warm in there! It also felt a bit crowded with the placement of the tables and it was hard to talk over the noise. It was a busy night and our waiter was super busy but still it was frustrating to have waited 40 + minutes for our meals. Also, there seemed to some confusion in the kitchen with our orders as the people seated on either side of us received their meals before us even though they were seated AFTER us. Seriously, the other patrons were almost done eating by the time we received our food. Our waiter was apologetic and we appreciate that, but it doesn't fix the mess up. The waiter should have caught that oversight instead of us having to bring it to their attention. The food was decent. There's a fine line between spicy/flavorful and hot. The shrimp and grits my friend ordered had some heat in it. It was more hot than spicy. A person shouldn't have to down an entire glass of water not even half way through a meal that is described as 'spicy'. It was a disappointing experience overall. I really wanted to like Brooklyn's as I like the idea of eating locally instead of heading into Austin, but we won't be coming back :( read more

They just changed the name. It's the same mediocre restaurant that's always been there. The green beans were covered in some kind of spray grease, The chicken breast was blahh, the "wild rice dressing" was wild rice with pecans in the pot 9 days old. Ok, probably not actually 9 days, but it was all pasty, squishy & very uneventful. The service is about like before in that I wasn't greeted immediately, but only noticed after I took out a notebook and began writing a while. I was ready with my entire order the first time I was approached. Wouldn't recommend it. I think this is my very first two star review. Get two stars because I ate half the chicken breast in half the rice and drank an equally mediocre Becker Malbec. That is all. read more

I've read all the reviews and this restaurant seemed to be one of the best in Buda... I took my family from out of town here to experience the little town of Buda and the service was not that great. We ordered appetizers and they came out fast but our server didn't bring us plates till after we asked for them. He seemed a little distracted from the host up front. The service was mediocre. A friend told me to check them out when I asked what places to check out, so I took my girlfriend there for dinner tonight. We were sat down and had a wonderful server. We ordered 2 appetizers, the fried green tomatoes and crab cakes. Fried green tomatoes were too tart when we tried them, because they weren't ripe when they were fried. The crab cakes were fishy like they were on their way out. So I politely told them that we didn't care for them and said we would pay for them. The gm brought the entree mushroom penne pasta with blackened salmon. We asked for the salmon to be cooked medium, and they brought out two pieces of salmon well over cooked and I told the gm this is not worth 12 dollars. She blamed it on food prices right now. Then yanked the ticket and said you don't have to pay for it and walked away. Sucked, I wanted to at least tip our server better then I did. Considering I didn't have alot of cash I tipped what I had in my pocket of which I left her 9$. I would have tipped her 20$ on my cc, however the gm ripped the the tab off the table before I could that, its sad. I'm not going back, and I'm going to update my friends that own multiple business here in buda, and Austin about my experience. read more

Ok. We recently went to New Orleans and I have to say, the red beans and rice and shrimp and grits were right on the mark at Brooklyn's!!! Everything was soo delicious. But they could use some help with customer service. It took quite a while to get served once we ordered and they forgot to bring items after food was delivered despite asking 2-3 times for some things. But, we're definitely giving them another whirl because the food really fat outweighed the service. read more

I had the Caesar salad, my mom had the shrimp salad, my dad had, I think fried shrimp and my husband had a sandwich but I can't recall what kind. I went into this restaurant with a family of four. I think the burgers and fries are pretty good if overpriced. If you are going into this place looking for traditional southern food, forget it. The chicken fried steak was thin but large. The problem was the taste . . . and the price. This place seems to pride itself on unusual spices as justification for high Austin prices outside of Austin. Additionally, everything is a la carte. On the plus side the side order of fries was generous and the fries were tasty. The burgers were good and thick. We came in for Sunday morning brunch with some friends. I had a Bloody Mary with french toast, scrambled eggs and country potatoes. The food was great! The potatoes were seasoned well and cooked through (I hate potatoes that have that almost raw crunch on the inside). My french toast was perfectly crispy and served with a delicious sweet cream sauce to go along with warm maple syrup. The service was top notch. Our server came to refill drinks just before they ran out every time. He also checked back often and started clearing plates as we each finished. Great good and great service. Had a great brunch experience with our waiter Kaj. He was attentive, knowledgeable and overall made us feel welcomed. The manager Mirna came to ask us about our experience and visited with us a bit. The bartender, Stephanie, even came over to discuss our drink choices! The food was good, the atmosphere better and the experience was great. Would highly recommend and we will be returning. My granddaughter (10YO) and I ate here on a recent trip to Austin. The decor is very nice and goes with the "Main Street" vibe of where it's located. We were greeted and seated promptly but were not provided a children's menu until we asked. I ordered a side salad and grilled salmon with pesto sauce. The salad and dressing were crisp and fresh. The salmon was grilled unevenly - fine on the end I started from but progressively more undercooked as I proceeded. The pesto "sauce" was non-existent. My granddaughter's children's size 1/4 cheeseburger was cooked to the point where it could probably have been used as a hammer. She picked the worst of it off, ate the rest and we shared her fries. Based on other reviews I think this may have been an off day. There had been a fair\festival all day (we were eating dinner) so maybe the kitchen was just worn out. My first visit to Brookly's was great - my waiter was Paul, he was incredible, had excellent recommendations, ensured that my friends and I were always taken care of, and really made us feel welcomed. This place has become one of my favorite spots, more like a weekly routine, for Happy Hour and dinner! The drinks and food are great - I would highly recommend the 967 Burger, my favorite, with a margarita! All my experiences have been GREAT and the staff is always nice and welcoming. My boyfriend and I ate at Brooklyn's for the first time last week, while out on a scooter ride. This restaurant has a nice atmosphere, suitable for all occasions and family sizes. Great draft beer and beverage selection. We ordered the boudin balls and a cup of gumbo as appetizers. Both were delicious! For main courses, he ordered the 967 burger, and I ordered the shrimp and grits. The shrimp and grits were awesome! Seems like they've really nailed it when it comes to traditional Cajun food. Definitely not bad for a small town place in Central Texas. I thought the burger was also good, but my boyfriend felt it was slightly bland. Besides the burger being a little bland, one of the reasons why I gave Brooklyn's four stars is the service was a bit off due to a large catering event at the restaurant. The good: waiter was very nice and helpful The so-so: restaurant did not appear very clean and floor was slippery with what seemed to be grease The bad: my Cajun meatloaf sandwich was dry, over cooked and tasteless. The only thing Cajun was some sauce with the lettuce. My wife's chicken club was a chicken sandwich and not a club sandwich. It was so tough I watched her try and cut through it with a knife and it was also very dry. I go to restaurants for good service, a clean atmosphere and mainly good food.
