I've dealt with Tom and Charlie while I'm there and they both speak to me with respect and explain the issue with my car to me. Charlie has even brought me in back to show me the problem. Even though I told her months earlier to have them fixed she let it go too long and now needed major work done. So off to Midas, and got an estimate of $2500. Really! Her car wasn't even worth that much. So I asked a co-worker and Shakopee Transmission was suggested. He said he has been going to there for years. (Thanks Mike!) Finding his shop isn't the easiest and it's not new and fancy. It's a mechanics shop, basically 2 guys and a shop. So with his estimate of $800 it was game on. I had taken it to O"Riley and tested myself prior so I new the problem but they insisted they had to do an inspection which I found out was a list of repairs per the manual which were recently completed, just don't trust what my costs would have been after they quoted me $600 to do the repair. I went elsewhere, who did an engine check while I waited and it was free.

To top it off, the last time I was in, I heard one of the female employees offer to drive an older gentleman back to his house so he didn't have to sit there all day long. Seriously, the warmest folks ever. Their prices are a bit higher than elsewhere, but it is justified by their quality of work, communication, and kindness. They will inform you of any issues they identify on your car but are not at all pushy about getting the work done there. I needed a transmission service last month so with the past good experiment I came to this place, again. My car stayed there all day and then they told me that I did need a transmission service. The front desk person told me that, they can rebuild the transmission with the cost of $ 4100. I asked him if they can find an used transmission and then install it. He told me ,sorry there isn't any used transmission they can find. I asked him, if I find a used one and they can install; he said they don't do that.7 So, his goal was to rebuild the transmission and charge me $ 4100 +. I didn't follow his advice and left. Then, I found a used transmission in Wisconsin online, bought it and delivered it for $ 800. I went to my mechanic garage, they did a fantastic job and replaced the transmission. It was $ 1500 total, part+labor. I saved lots of money and my car is running perfectly on the road. I will never go for any service to Transmission Service store again. Unless, Russ decides to come back.

My first experience at Transmission Doctor was for them to diagnose some clunking/knocking noises…read morethat were coming from my 2013 Subaru WRX. They found what was causing the noise, and also a couple other minor issues, and fixed them with no problems. I called after hours and asked if they could change the transmission fluid while they have it, and the manager (Jim), called back first thing in the morning to let me know they checked the fluid and it looked brand new so it didn't need to be changed. Any other shop would have said they changed changed the fluid and added it to the bill, but they didn't, so they gained my trust right away. They only fixed what needed to be be fixed, and the cost was very reasonable. Since then I've had them replace the clutch and transmission. They did the work quickly and kept me informed throughout the process. There we no surprise costs and the total bill was actually less than what I expected it to be. It's hard to find a shop that you can trust, and does good work at a reasonable cost, so Transmission Doctor is now the first (and likely only) shop I'll call if I have car problems.
