Had a rescue puppy *Diamond* that was spayed far too early- causing her to have a very leaky bladder. Took her to this vet and was given medication that did not really work for her- I had to keep asking *paying office visits each time* to have her medication increased as her weight was increasing. It ended up that her bladder continued to leak making floods of urine from an increasing sized dog. I was not and am not equipped for an outside dog, and expressed my need for other solutions to Dr. B and was basically dismissed. Her leaky bladder caused my already disabled mother to slip in a puddle of urine while trying to transfer from her wheelchair to go to the restroom and break her hip. The discord that this caused within my family made it so that the Diamond ended up having to go back to the rescue organization and I was made to feel like a horrible person because my mother's health came before a dog that apparently could or would not be treated. I made the decision to not go to this vet clinic ever again. Unfortunately, my husband's dog became very ill- bloody diarrhea and could not walk and they were the only clinic open. I set an appointment and waited my turn to see the doctor. When Dr. B came into the exam room as I held our very ill dog in my arms I was told I was not welcome and that the clinic no longer wanted me or my animals as clients/patients. Here's the problem I have with this- at no time was I ever sent anything- like a refusal of service letter nor was I given my animal's vet records when they decided they did not want to help me or our very sick dog. Our dog ended up being put into ICU at another clinic for 4 days, almost not making it- thankfully he pulled through. Once again with no help from Brookwood Animal Clinic. They seem to really not care about animals, or the people they "serve" in the Jackson Area. Also, I had previously written a review and tried to be polite and not air all of the dirty laundry- but they had it removed because they don't like negative reviews. NEVER TRUST ANY BUSINESS THAT HAS SUCH PRACTICES! In response to Dr Mathis- My original review that you had removed was posted from shortly after the incident occurred. So yes it is over 2 years old. I was told to leave your office with a sick dog in my arms- not exactly a time to discuss anything as my dog needed ICU. Your doctor that was under your employ told me to leave, and stated that she had spoken with the management and that the staff at the clinic did not want my business. She spoke- whilst perhaps not with authority on your behalf. You are correct that the spay was done through a rescue group- my apologies for not making that clear. The medicine worked PARTLY and I had to make further appointments to have the medication dosage increased where your doctor did charge me for the appointments as office visits. Just a refill did not cost me an office visit- but as she was growing so rapidly I needed increased dosage often- SOMETHING I HAD TO REQUEST EVERY TIME. I contacted the recuse group and arranged for them to pick her up at your clinic- I even offered to pay boarding for her stay while the rescue organization arranged pickup. I have NEVER abandoned an animal- and resent the implication. If anyone abandoned her it was the rescue organization. Though I am glad to hear you found her a home, she was a very sweet dog and it broke my heart to surrender her to anyone, however my mother's broken hip and her disabilities forced my hand in a very unfortunate situation. Your comment is contradictory I was either told to leave or "fired" or I wasn't. You state I was fired for "bad behavior", please feel free to message me or write me- feel free to include my animal's medical records as you obviously know who I am as to what my perceived transgression/ abuse might be- as I was polite and paid my bills at the time of service, and as stated offered to pay for Diamond's boarding while the rescue organization addressed her recovery. Perhaps, YOU could have contacted me- as I was NEVER contacted by your office to discuss my "termination". I will admit that there were 2 attempts by your office to contact me after I had walked out of an appointment (never actually getting the office visit) after I had sat for more than an hour past my appointment time and had urine from the dog coating my feet, legs,and lap. I had briefly spoken to the doctor and was at my wits end. Something I had discussed with the temporary doctor and was told I needed to continue to wait. Few people would continue to wait while urine poured off of their person for an undetermined amount of time when feeling that their needs were not being met. Yelp is a place to write a review- which I have done based upon my experience, I have given my honest review and can see that others have had positive reviews. HORRIBLE PLACE! I brought my puppy here for a puppy visit and i will NEVER be back. If i could give this place 0 stars, i would!!!! First off the girl at the front with the dark hair was the RUDEST bitch to me for no reason. She did not say hello when i walked in and after the appointment was over she didnt tell me my total. I had to ask for it. AND THEN she rolled her eyes when i said "have a good day" Second the doctor who saw my puppy was just weird. she had NO personality. Then the idiot who cut my poor puppys nails quicked her 3 TIMES!!!!! She did not even apologize. LEARN HOW TO DO YOUR JOBS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dr's Gwen & Greg Mathis have been our vet since1996 to current. I love how they take time to answer any & all questions you may even if you have lived for years with man's best friend. You never feel rushed in or out of their offices. In addition, they employ the best trained & caring staff and technicians. All three of my dog's enjoyed the time they spent in their kennel. Have used Brookwood for years and was upset to read the prior review. These folks are fantastic, just look at the google reviews. Everyone I know takes their pets there and loves them. Use to go to another vet nearby back around 2001 who forced me to give my dogs vaccines every year. Dr. Mathis showed me research from various universities showing that they should only be given every 3 years. Very ethical hard working people. read more
