We are frequent patrons of the tapanyaki next door. Pleasantly surprised to see an authentic pho restaurant in Santee. This morning we decided to give this place a try. Ordered the egg rolls and house special pho. The taste was on point! The portion size was generous and the broth flavor was delicious! Nice atmosphere and good service. Unfortunately the food wasn't good. And this is the kind of food I enjoy. The steak and eggs. It was a very strange combination of foods. Something I've never seen before. First it should not have been called steak. It wasn't steak but sliced beef (in my view low quality meat). Also a chicken liver pate that wasn't terrible but wasn't good. The eggs were OK. The bread was good.... actually the best part of the meal. Included were two generic hot dogs that didn't taste good. But for steak and eggs why include liver pate and hot dogs. Very unusual. The pho wasn't good either. The broth was weak compared to other pho shops. To make Pho great they need to make a great broth and they didn't. The sliced meat didn't taste good either. I felt like the owner wanted to make a nice place. It was nicely decorated. But making this food with high quality and enjoyment is much harder than people realize. It takes skill and willingness to pay for good ingredients to make this kind of food great. The price wasn't super cheap but reasonable if the quality was higher. Hopefully this place will get better in the future. read more

Super excited to have a restaurant that serves beef bone soup AND KOREAN DISHES! I no longer have to drive to convoy to get tofu stew, Bulgogi, Kimbap, or japchae! I went to check out this place on a Thursday afternoon around 11:45 AM. I got the pork bulgogi AND the bone broth soup. Overall, I would say this place is good not phenomenal. I don't think Santee is quite ready for a Korean place even though our local Costco and Trader Joe's sell lots of packaged Korean foods. My hope is that Santee will give this place a shot and try the different dishes and fall in love with Korean food like I have. I would say the only downside of the pork Bulgogi was the amount of oil at the bottom of the plate. I guess it was a bit off-putting. The beef bone soup was a good size with lots of tendon and beef bits. It was a perfect amount for one person or you could even share it between two and get another dish. The broth tasted like a traditional pho broth but had a very interesting buttery flavor to it. It was unlike any other broth I had had before, and I'm not sure whether it was the beef bone that was giving it that flavor or perhaps it was an added flavor that the chef put in. Either way, I am up in the air about it and should probably try the broth without any bones in it to see how it is. I basically had a very low-carb meal today and it was just what I wanted so I'm happy! I was the only diner in the restaurant at that time. A woman came in, but looked at the menu and decided it wasn't for her which is kind of what I thought would be an issue with Santee customers. Well, fingers crossed this place is able to sustain. There were 5 of us and we all asked for water. She brought out 1. I asked her again she brought out 2. Ridiculous. She brought out the Katsu and I didn't not see the rice. I asked if it come with rice because usually the whole meal comes out together. She rudely said it's coming. Took a while for the rice to come out. We had some of their flavored lemonades and they were excellent. The pho was very rich and the broth was full of flavor. The wings were the perfect mix of savory and sweet. I first heard about this place on Santee happenings.. Drove by and it was true we had another Pho spot. But they are certainly more than just Pho. It's like a fusion of Southeast Asian flavors you can get everything from Pho to Kimchi soft Tofu soup. Which my daughter and I ate. But my absolute favorite was the Fish sauce Fried chicken I know it's sounds like a weird combo but it so good!!! If you are craving Asian food this is a gem. So glad we tried it out. Very disappointed with my visit. They actually forgot about my order, and I had to ask where it was before they even started on it. The service was painfully slow, and when the food finally came, it wasn't that great. My husband tried to order more food from the "all you can eat" menu, and the female server made him feel judged for ordering. Ordered kalbi, tofu soup, katsu through door dash. Katsu was very dry, tofu soup tasted like kimchee water, no flavor. Took a bite of Kalbi and there was a long black hair hanging from the meat. We called to let them know about the hair, was really grossed out and no longer desired to eat the food. The cashier woman was very rude stating "No one has hair here!". We brought the food back to the restaurant, the woman had long black hair, just like the one in our food. Same woman refused to give us a refund. We left the food there and reported it to DoorDash. First time here. We got the all you can eat so we could sample things: Corn cheese - simple but very tasty Fried chicken dumplings- really good! Tacos- was unsure on this but it was really good! Fish cake-really good and lots of flavor Garlic seafood- my wife raved about this. She was very pleased. White tonkatsu ramen with pork- portion was on the small side but very good lots of flavor. Chicken Katsu- also very good. Chicken was not dry at all and the sauce was amazing. Service was very good and attentive. The dining area was clean and comfortable. The server sits down and eats every chance he gets, doesn't wash his hands when he gets up, unsanitary if you ask me. Prices are outrageous for what you get. Server doesn't check on you, had to get up to ask for a fork and if I was able to grab my bean sprouts plate that was just sitting on the counter. The man at the counter I rude and started to yell cause I didn't have the right name for the order, I showed him my inter net receipt and he starts telling me in a tone that he need a phone number. After I gave him the number and name be brought out the food and basically slid it on the table with an attitude. After checking it thinking we had everything when I got home he forgot four items and we had to go back to get it because I will not be goi g back to use it the next time. I had issues with this place when they were a doughnut shop and now it started all over. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. I was sick and needed to order some pho. I had recently seen some Facebook posts about this new place, so I decided to order it on DoorDash. It was amazing. I ordered the Pho Filet Mignon and a Thai Tea. The packaging was nice. The broth was still extremely hot and cooked the meat really fast. The meat was very tender. It came with all the add-ins. Ordered the Pho Short Ribs Beef. It came and there was very little beef and what was on the rib was the membranes holding the beef that was unbeatable.
