This place is always the absolute best. The lunch items are so cheap and they come with a spring roll and soup!! We come almost every single week. The service is always so quick and nice. The restaurant is clean and always welcoming!

We came in about 330 and it was nice and quiet and cool in here for the summer temperatures. We got sweet-and-sour chicken and egg drop soup. And white rice and it was all very good. They also had a really good oxidized brown tea that is fantastic. The service is immediate and the family is very sweet.

Pretty good Chinese food. Nice sit down accommodations. The Indonesian fried rice was delicious. Also the sweet and sour chicken and sesame seed balls with black beans paste was a treat.

Middle of the road Chinese food, fine for Santee. Clean restaurant, not so friendly waiters, but they were quick. Started out with hot and sour and egg flower soup. These soups were clearly sitting around for a long while. Lacking flavor. Salt & Pepper Wings- I actually loved these. Not overdone nor heavy breading. Good flavor and great crisp. Kung pow chicken- fresh with lots of zucchini. OK flavor. Combo Lo Mein- fresh, not a lot of meat. OK flavor. Overall its fine for Santee. The food lacked a lot of flavor but you could doctor it up. We will go back

I usually order Ubereats from here but finally had the time to stop in to eat in person last night. We came around 8pm (they close at 9:30) and we were the only table dining there. Restaurant was a moderate size and it was very quiet inside without music. My go to dish is the Indonesian fried rice! So good and flavorful. Tried the salt and pepper shrimp last night and they were delicious as well! You can't beat the prices for around $13-17 a dish, each was a big shareable portion. Service was quick and to the point. I would come back for another nice comforting meal and to try some of their other items.

Order off of door dash. The portions are pretty big for the price. Food was very tasty and was enough food for my family of 3. Spent around $40 for 3 items. Got the egg flower soup, chicken lo mein, and sesame chicken. There is an option to add $2 fried rice but the fried rice was plain just soy sauce and eggs no veggies. Good for takeout and something quick.

First time here and I have to say Thanks and a big SHOUT OUT to the folks in Santee on FB. Their recommendations were spot on. Paula and I were looking for a new Chinese Restaurant closer to home as some of our favs have closed down or gone down since Covid. Panda Country was amazing. From the moment we walked in, we could sense this was gonna be good as I watched another tables food being delivered with steam rising from the plates. The decor eloquent, the furniture neatly organized and the entire dining room just shouted high standards. The server was extremely attentive and took our orders for sake and beers immediately. Her timing was impeccable as she took an appetizer order and once they were delivered gave us some time to enjoy the cheese wontons and the egg rolls. Both were absolutely FRESH, HOT and delicious. We then ordered entrees, Sweet and Sour Pork, Chicken Lo Mein and the Szechuan Beef. All these dishes came out perfectly prepared, fresh and hot. I can't say enough good things about this little gem hidden away in Santee but if you have never been there, go. It will surely become your 'go to' Chinese restaurant. If you are wondering about the price tag, trust me you will not have sticker shock. The prices are better than most others in the county.

    Mongolian Beef Lunch Special

We stopped here for a quick lunch today and got a couple of their lunch specials. Pork with garlic sauce and Mongolian beef. Honestly it was okay. The pork tastes like sweet and sour pork to me so it makes me wonder if I got the correct order. Kind of generic dishes that's been Americanized to appeal to those just wanting to have some Chinese food. The lunch specials included crispy noodles, soup, spring rolls, and the main dish. You get a lot of food for the money. The staff were very friendly and we received our lunch rather quickly. Might come back and try some of their specialty dishes next time.

We had the lunch specials of Orange chicken and shrimp chow mein and chicken chop suey. It was accompanied by white rice and egg rolls and egg flower soup. It's been almost 20 yrs since we were here last and the food is still delicious. The service was fast and courteous.

Used to be the best in Santee. With new owners the flavors now are bland. Crispy beef was not crispy. Shredded beef was beef slices.

Ask the Community - Panda Country Restaurant

Is this the same panda county restaurant as the one that closed In clairemont? Did they have multiple locations?

Is the Salt & Pepper Shrimp very spicy? Is it really only seasoned with salt & regular pepper?

Salted Pepper 🌶. If you love fried wings, green beans, and/or fish with garlic, red peppers🌶, and scallions, you will love anything that is Salt & Pepper/Salted Pepper. They use this 🌶 not this pepper. 😉

Well... came to lunch with one of my sons, and let me just say, I wanted to like this place more…read morethan I actually did. The staff was friendly, especially Amy and Jennifer, and I have to give Amy credit because she was very patient and helpful in explaining the menu and portion sizes. But unfortunately, once the food, drinks, pricing, and portions all came together, this turned into a "thank you, but I won't be back" kind of experience. The place is in a place center and a small establishment better for Togo order but has small seating available inside. The menu itself seemed pretty standard, but I quickly learned that their portion sizes and prices are different from what I'm accustomed to. I was told the combo portions were more like child-sized meals, so I decided to order two large Orange Chicken entrées with steamed rice. We also ordered two chicken eggrolls and two Thai teas with boba. The total? $53.87 for two people. Now Auntie is going to need you to explain that math! Especially because the prices for the drinks and boba weren't clearly displayed. I actually had to have Miss Amy go over the bill with me because I was trying to figure out how we got to nearly $54. THEN I discovered there was a 3.99% credit-card surcharge that I wasn't aware of. Had I known, I absolutely would have brought cash. So, memo to anybody going: bring your cash! The Thai tea was another hard pass for me. At $8.65 EACH, I expect a Thai tea to be GOOD good. And as somebody who loves Thai tea, I know what I'm looking for. Unfortunately, this tasted more like a powdered mix, was way too heavy on the milk, and didn't have enough of that actual Thai tea flavor. The boba looked and tasted overcooked too as it was mushy. At that price, "I just couldn't justify it." The Orange Chicken was fresh and appeared to be made to order, so I'll give them that. But the breading was harder than I prefer, and the sauce didn't taste like traditional Orange Chicken to me. It was much sweeter and tasted more like a sweet-and-sour sauce with a twist. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't what I was expecting. My bigger issue was the portion of chicken. Once it came out on the plate, I remember thinking, "Ohhh... this is the large?" The rice portion looked normal, but the amount of chicken left me wanting more--especially considering the price. Now let's talk about these "chicken eggrolls." Chile... They came out looking EXACTLY like vegetable spring rolls. I actually asked Amy before eating them, "These are chicken eggrolls, right?" because I noticed the wrapper looked different from the eggrolls I'm accustomed to. She assured me they were. So I took a bite, opened it up, and... WHERE'S THE CHICKEN?! There was nothing but vegetables inside. And I wasn't the only one who noticed. Another customer walked in while I was sitting near the ordering counter, looked over at them and said, "Those definitely look like spring rolls." Ma'am, THANK YOU! I brought it to Amy's attention, and she went to speak with the staff. A little while later, she came back with a small saucer of cooked chicken and explained that she wanted to make things right as they were hand made and sometimes they forgot to put the chicken in the rolls. I genuinely believe she was trying to do something nice, and I appreciate that she addressed the issue rather than ignoring it. BUT Auntie is going to be honest: that wasn't really the fix I was hoping for. I had taken ONE bite. The better solution would have been to remake the eggrolls correctly. I ordered chicken eggrolls--not vegetable spring rolls with a side of chicken. Bringing me a little plate of cooked chicken after the fact just made the situation feel even more awkward. At the end of the day, I don't think anyone was intentionally trying to give me a bad experience. The staff was pleasant, Amy was kind, and the food was fresh. But good customer service can only go so far when the value isn't matching the price. Nearly $54 for lunch for two is not an inexpensive lunch, and for that amount I expected better portions, better drinks, clearer pricing, and--most importantly--to actually receive what I ordered. So unfortunately, Auntie will not be returning. ‍ I truly wish them well, but when I spend almost $54 on lunch for two, I shouldn't leave feeling like I had to investigate the bill, question the portions, question the drinks, AND investigate where the chicken went in my chicken eggrolls. For me, this was a one-and-done.

To my surprise, I actually had a pretty good meal here. Right when we walked in, we were greeted by such a happy and friendly host. Honestly, that already surprised me because service at these types of buffets can sometimes be pretty stand-offish. Not here. She even asked if the table she picked was suitable for us before seating us. Our server was SO sweet. She interacted with almost every table in such a friendly way. Usually at a buffet, someone clears your plates and that's about it. She was actually attentive throughout our meal. Our drinks were never empty either. The selection is smaller compared to other buffets I've been to, but they still have all your typical options like wings, orange chicken, chow mein plus plenty of other dishes. There's also a sushi and salad bar. For dessert, they have an ice cream machine with a smaller selection of sweets and fruit. Food wise, the New York steak was a nice surprise. My first portion was medium rare, juicy with a nice flavor. Unfortunately, the pieces continued cooking under the heat lamps. When I went back for more, they were super tough and dry. The honey walnut shrimp was delicious. Pretty standard, but still good. The Beef and Broccoli was easily one of my favorites. It had so much flavor with the garlic really shining through. There were some misses like the short ribs and teriyaki chicken, but that's kind of the fun of a buffet. You try everything then figure out what deserves a second plate. Cleanliness was alright. Our table was a little sticky, so that could've been better. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised. The service really made a difference too.
